In a large mixing bowl, combine the oats, fruit and nuts. Make sure it's well…

Core/Stomach Toning
Hi All I've been losing for a couple months now and am down approx. 22-23lbs. So that's going great!!! I do a decent amount of CV work and am eating well. I also do a fair bit of work on arms/pecs/legs/back. However I never really seem to get round to focussing on my core/tummy area and am scared of becoming a thinner…

Thinking of Switching to TDEE Guidelines
Hi All I keep reading how inaccurate the exercise calculations can be on here, so I'm thinking it's going to be easier to set a custom target based on TDEE, then just ignore the exercise input part of the equation. My TDEE is 3297 at Lightly Active or 3717 at Moderately active. I generally exercise at least 3 times a week,…

Is it usual to lose more to begin with?
Hi All I've been at this now seriously for almost 4 weeks. Obviously in that time I expected to lose around 8lbs. I accept it's not a perfect calculation. It transpires I've lost between 11-12lbs allowing for slight variations on the scales. Now I admit I will finished most days maybe 200 calories under target, but that…

"Processed" food - Definition? Do you avoid? Pro's and Con's
I struggle with the phrase "processed". Technically any cooking/chopping is processed. I believe it generally means anything processed before end user and with additional additives/preservatives. I've found im eating much less processed food but I think it would be tough to completely avoid processed foods. The occasional…

MFP Calorie Guidelines
Hi Sure there is an obvious logic to this, but could do with someone helping explain... I've so far lost 10lbs (woo!) and MFP has offered to recalculate my daily calorie intake. It has put my calories up by 80 per day. Obviously this is no big deal, but I assume that as I lost weight I'd have to eat less calories to keep…

My Filling Salad Combination
I think it's a general concept that when you're eating well, you should eat a lot of salad. Now we know salad is great for you, but let's be honest, it can be dull. However I have my own little concoction that I think tastes great, adds a bit of protein, fills you up and still keep the calories low. I make this in a big…

Cardio vs Lifting
Hi All Sorry, I guess this has been asked a thousand times here before, but I can't find exactly what I'm after so I'll start again... I do quite a lot of cardio. Generally 5 times a week in the form of running, soccer, metafit, spinning. Also normal gym work (treadmill, bikes, elliptical etc etc). During the summer I do a…

Do you always aim for your recommended number of calories?
I'm probably very lucky compared to some. I'm currently on a setting of trying to lose 2lb per week. This allows me 2040 calories a day. I also exercise quite intensely 5 days a week, so on those days I usually have about 2700 calories to play with. I can eat quite happily and fill nicely full up on around 2000-2200…

Calorie allowance revision
Hi Probably a stupid question, as you log your weekly weight loss (hopefully) does MFP automatically revise your daily calorie allowance? Also any adds welcome. Support for all. Thanks G

Never realised the potential of this site!
Hi All I've been a member for about 2 years and would go through spells of tracking my calorie intake, but never with any real focus or results. Strangely, I've never really noticed there is a big old community behind this site as well as a lot of useful tools like progress trackers, charts etc. I suppose that's the…
