Never realised the potential of this site!

Hi All

I've been a member for about 2 years and would go through spells of tracking my calorie intake, but never with any real focus or results.

Strangely, I've never really noticed there is a big old community behind this site as well as a lot of useful tools like progress trackers, charts etc. I suppose that's the problem with walking through life with your eyes open but seeing nothing.

Anyway I've set myself a target of 48lbs to lose.

I'm quite fit in that I regularly run between 5-10km, I play 5 a side football (soccer?) twice a week and do a lot of road cycling in the summer, distances around the 100km mark. So I'm reasonably fit (especially for my weight), but I think my mindset now is that if I can do so much now, I could do so much more if I was lighter.

I'm 6ft 5, 257lbs as of this morning. Also I'm due to join the police force in the next few months.

So hello all! Hopefully you'll see me kicking about every now and then!

Graeme

    hiiiii
great to see a fellow tall person on here!
I'm 6ft 1, started again at 335lbs but have lost 17lbs in 19 days on Atkins
It's not for everyone, but it's working for me so far
Would be great to see what you're eating, and to get inspired by your exercise, coz I'm currently a couch potato who sits at a deak most of the working day

I too am a desk dweller during the day!

My exercise pattern generally follows the below...

Monday - 45min Spinning. High intensity
Tuesday - 45 minutes 5 a side footy. Medium intensity
Wednesday - 30 minutes Metafit. Stupidly high intensity!
    Thursday - Rest
Friday - 60 minutes 5 a side footy. High intensity (bunch of 21 year olds!!!!)
Saturday - Gym for an hour/Metafit for 30 minutes/5-10km run.
    Sunday - Rest

Obviously that's not exact and days will move around but that's pretty much standard.

I'm only in my second week, but from past experience, I'm happy to eat pretty much anything as long as I keep within my daily calorie intake. Obviously I focus more on veg/lean meat/cereals etc, but there is nothing I won't eat in reason.

All I can say, is you must exercise! Obviously it's great for weight loss, but so much more. The best things I find from it are the release of endorphins which make you feel great. Also I sleep so much better after exercise. It can seem daunting, but anything is a benefit. A brisk walk or a group exercise class (where you can go your own pace) are a great way to get involved.

    Good luck!
