Definitely more hiking and snowshoeing. Are there any steep hills or mountains near you that you can use to build endurance? Some of my friends who are training fill their packs with water for weight to ascend, then dump it out at the top to reduce the stress on your knees and joints coming back down. Don't forget about…

I like mixing Hidden Valley Ranch Mix into 2% Fage plain yogurt. Dip away with fresh peppers, carrots, broccoli and cauliflower. I also really like pickled eggs with red beets.

Just chiming in to say that Bridgedale makes Bamboo socks as an alternative to wool. They obviously lack the anti-microbial properties and supreme comfort of great wool socks, but they are a suitable alternative for those with wool allergies or, as I have recently learned, vegans. Carry on.

Looks like you enjoy hiking & dogs, too! Two of my favorite things. Feel free to add me.

Not a football fan, but I would be pretty disappointed if I went to a party and there was only vegetables and dip there. Get out that crock pot and slow cook some bbq pork spare ribs, make a layered taco dip or a crab/lobster dip with some toasted pitas, and have some alcohol for mixing. If you know you'll be tempted to…

You got this! Burn more - consume less!

A few ideas: 1. Only bring enough money for the amount of drinks you plan on having. Leave the CC at home. 2. Focus on the the quality of drink rather than the amount. If you like craft beer, try a few nice brews and really enjoy them. 3. Slow down. Have 1 drink per hour and make an agreement to drink water in between each…

I had the same issue and it's most likely poor ankle flexibility, which takes a lot of stretching to improve. While I'm working on that, I used small plates under my heels to instantly correct the issue but felt a little too unstable with a heavy barbell.. which led to buying Olympic lifting shoes, which are incredibly…

I switched to the TDEE method when I started lifting, since it's incredibly difficult to calculate how many calories lifting burns. I also felt like I had to work out to be able to eat with the MFP method, and I don't like having that kind of relationship with food. Food is not a prize for working out, it's fuel so you can.

I think I've eaten "breakfast" less than 10 times in the last year... meal timing is completely irrelevant. I do not get hungry until around 2pm, which is when I got straight into lunch. I eat a late dinner, usually around 9:30pm, then a snack at 11pm. When I first started here on MFP, I would try to force myself to eat…

No, I haven't in the last 5 years or so and I never got the flu. My husband got his last year and it was the only year he actually got the flu! No thanks.

If I only have about an hour, I'll go for difficulty rather than distance. On the AT in Hamburg, PA there's a parking lot at the bottom of the mountain and the trail follows switchbacks going up for about 25-50 minutes, depending on your ability. I do that and try to beat my time going up. If we are going backpacking, we…

Reading, PA checking in.. glad to see you all here!

Hi. I climb and my husband and I own a gear shop in PA. Lots of my friends on here are climbers too.

I sell trail running shoes for a living and I highly recommend that you go and get fitted. I buy La Sportiva, Scarpa & Salewa for our shop, but you'll need to go to a good store to try them on and see what works best for you. Enjoy the trails!

Wow, your knives are beautiful! I would love to own a set of those.. I have a 6-piece Wustof block set, but find I only really use 2 of them regularly. The kitchen scissors that was included is very nice too. They were expensive, but I enjoy cooking much more with them.

No, and they can absolutely be dangerous. My mom got severe heart palpitations and nearly ended up in the hospital. I am pretty sure supplements aren't regulated by the FDA and the potential side effects can be incredibly harmful.

I think that way of thinking would work for me if I was living in the woods in a cabin with no job or any other obligations. Intuitive sleeping would work for me too. It's a dream world. Unfortunately, my life is stressful and I have to work 60 hours a week and scheduling my meals and logging has to be part of my routine…

I had Mediterranean Mint last night and it was SO GOOD.. Can't decide if it's better than Sea Salted Caramel though.

You look AMAZING! Way to go!

How about Dom? I see he has a new video out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6tTv_DEY7s

I also do IF (2 months now) and I find it satisfying and sustainable, BUT I could never do only 2 hours for feeding. My daily intake is around 1900, which I consume over about 6 hours. OP, why not widen your feeding window to 4-6 hours instead of 2 so you have time to get more calories in?

Do you need a smartphone to use a fitbit? How does it connect to MFP?

^^This. Meal timing is irrelevant and your body will adjust quickly. I don't eat my first meal until after 2pm and I eat dinner at 9:30PM. I go to sleep easily an hour later and I'm doing great.

Are there any farmer's markets near you? There are 3 near me and one of them especially is incredibly cheap! I really wish I had a photo to share, but the amount of produce I can get from there for $25 is staggering.

Valued. I create my own happiness.

I prefer PROBAR CORE. They are so delicous and 20g protein for 280 cals. I just had the mint chocolate one today, but chocolate peanut butter and cookie dough are also yummy. PROBAR also makes whole meal bars, fruit bars, and dessert bars (think s'mores). They focus on high-quality ingredients and most are organic / raw.

I had the exact same experience!! I was so excited for my free session at the gym and when I said I'm doing Stronglifts and I want to be taught form, she told me that she doesn't use the free weight because it's too hard. I spent the next hour doing circuit training. I learned SL 5x5 from watching videos and reading on the…
