If you put the mtb on a trainer, you might want to change the rear tire....that knobby tire makes a heck of a racket on a trainer.

South Beach, eh? Well, if you were my fiend here, I'd have to unfriend you....
-
Magnetic? I'd probably go with a cyclops brand trainer. For the best workout though, a fluid trainer is the way to go, and for that, I'd go Kurt Kinetic.....love my green machine. Heck of a workout.

dog? Cool! sprint workout!

either you are insane or lying....

agreed. In fact, I see this whole journey as one of improvement, not perfection.

To me, it means avoiding pocessed foods and fast foods. Eating natural, whole foods. An example, if I want something sweet a pear is clean eating while a snickers bar isn't.

I can't see why the scar would keep you from having a six pack. A six pack is based on the muscle under the skin and the amount of adipose tissue between those two things. If you develop those abdominal muscles and drop the body fat low enough, you should have a six pack.

17.5% ish...would like to get to 12% or so.

As a fellow diabetic...perhaps a piece of fruit can help quinch the desire for sugar? Also, what are your BG's like at that time?

5 miles? that's about 20 minutes at 15 mph....so about 40 minutes round trip. 4 days a week? should work....just make sure to get another forn of exercise in addition to that....cycling is not a weight bearing exercise, so doesn't do a lot for bones and upper body.

I'll make the same bet with you I made with a guy in a work truck....let's race. Not for speed. See who can go the farthest on $5 of fuel. BTW, I can get close to 50 miles on a burrito and can get those for just over a $1 at some stores. :glasses:

A recession? To hear the talking heads on the television, all is golden with the economy and jobs right now
-
whatever you get, make sure it's a proper fit .....riding a bike that's too big or too small isn't that fun and can be kind of dangerous. If you can, go to a bike shop and get fitted for the proper size bike. Also, if you want one bike to do it all....trails and road, a mtb can do both. Technically, a skinny tired road…

odd....I'm pretty sure the fat on my belly makes me fat.

if the kidneys and liver are functioning anywhere near normal, your body is constantly detoxing.....that's what those organs do, amongst other things.

bass player? I used to play....long time ago.

I love 'em both...but really, I choose The Who.

If his comments were pervy, mine would have been world class pervy. I would have made Hugh Heffner look like an alter boy.

Working on a masters myself. I feel your pain.

Chilli beef stew (beef, onion, carrots, and taters....boil it.,.,,doesn't get much easier). baked chicken, rice, brocoli and cheese sauce.

Kids or no kids.... Led Zepplin I, II, or III Any Cinderella Album....but usually their greatest hits....same with Motley Crue, Poison, or GnR. AC/DC Back in Black is perfect for running a 5k as is the Ramones greatest hits.

I think so

but you could lose an ounce or so of weight that way.

S.A.D (Standard American Diet) is closer to 60% of Calories from Carbs, 15% from protein, and the rest (25%) from fat. 40/30/30 is the ratio promoted by the zone diet, and some lump it in as a high protein diet. Personally, I consider it a lower carb diet, but not a low carb diet. There's nothing magical about the ratio…
