I stopped adding sugar to my foods a few weeks ago - no more sugar in tea, no more sugar on fruit, no more sugar eating, etc. It took three weeks for it to become habit. I found that I craved other things - candy, cookies ... this thing has me in its grip. I'm on week 2 of no candy, and starting Week 1 of no cookies. Baby…

wow - I used to post on past Robin (100 lb to lose) threads, and then lost track. Glad to see this! I am having ups and downs with this process. I am grateful this was posted, and look forward to keeping up with it. Yep, I still have >100 to lose, and I am still sure I can do it ... slowly but surely.

Have you ever used a Dobie sponge? They get all sorts of residue (eggs and other baked-on crap) right off pans without scratching them. You also might want to pop the muffin pans into the oven for 10 or so minutes before pouring in the egg mix - that, along with some olive oil, should keep the eggs from sticking.

Thank you. YOu do inspire me a lot. I had lost 30 lbs earlier this year, and have gained back 10. It's very hard to keep going back. I know I need to , and so I keep on going. I do have to stop playing games with myself - I know that. Even though it's my worst time of year - heavy allergies which no medication really takes…

I'm one inch taller than you and started at 290. When I entered in my metrics, I stated that I was extremely sedentary (no exercise at all) and wanted to lose a pound a week. The algorithm told me I could eat 1800 cals a day, without exercise. 1200 seems too little for your size and weight. You might want to play with the…

Are you concerned about the pace of your weight loss? The extremely low fat, which can halt menstruation, would be a concern. Do make sure you eat enough fat! Essentially, keeping fat cals at 20% or less of daily calories is a good rule of thumb. (The formula: multiply # of fat grams by 9, then divide that product by the…

Not Utah, but Midwest. Have added you!

I've been making similar soup/stews for a while. A 28 oz can of crushed tomatoes, about 1-2 cups of veggie broth, lots of cut-up veggies (onions, mushrooms, zucchini, carrots, peppers - whatever's in the fridge, really) - spice to taste (we like a lot of pepper, and I usually throw in some cumin, fennel and oregano), a can…

you won't have enough energy! Eat more protein. Have a hamburger. And track your food. You'll lose weight. The current diet sounds horrible, and a recipe for tricking the body into thinking it's starving, which will cause weight GAIN.

Sorry - Martin's are great, but King's are da bomb.

when I saw this I was in the midst of completing a King's Hawaiian Savory Rolls binge. Argh! They are truly just too good. The ultimate dinner roll (except for those I make myself :) )

If I eat something that's not consistent with how I am eating now, I do not call it cheating. More, it's having something outside my current way of eating. Like many responders to this post, I focus on keeping it within my MFP calorie guidelines. and I log, log, log! So ... if I want, say, Peeps or jelly beans, or a…

I saw a lot of good things here. The main item really does have to know your intake and outputs, and eat less than you burn.. I will add to the "eat real food" suggestion: Be aware of how various foods affect your body. Some, even though they are ostensibly "healthy", will set up cravings. Example: commercially raised meat…

I'm always fascinated by all the different claims for different ways of eating. I've been following a modified nutritarian plan for the past month. And here is what I've been finding: 1. Commercially raised meats are hideous. You can feel all the growth hormones. Organic meats play far less havoc with one's digestion and…

This is a great site. Yes, losing weight is hard ... it took me more than a year and a half on this site to really get going. I started with 140 lbs to lose as well. Some suggestions: 1. use the support - friend people and accept friend requests! it's a great feeling when everyone is supporting each other toward the same…

SAVE THAT BULLYING EMAIL. You will need to show it to someone in authority to prove the bullying. In the meantime, here are some comebacks. "Is someone trying to talk to me? You're just so scrawny I can't see you." "I don't pay attention to skeletons." "Preparing for your Skeletor audition, I see." "You mean you can speak?…

I sit right outside my department's kitchen, so smells are assailing me all day long. I do keep healthy food in a file drawer at my desk, and endeavor to have healthy tasty things for lunches and snacks. However, it is rough, esp. when others at your workplace are determined to sabotage you. (One executive, who I have…

Believe it or not, you might not be eating enough. When I plugged in my numbers on MFP, I was astounded at how high the number of calories was for me to lose. However, it does work. when I tried to eat 1500, I kept sneaking up to 1700, and didn't lose a pound. At 1800? Voila! Weight loss. I know, it seems weird. Try it.…

I wish I had some tips. I struggle with it too. The only thing I ever found that works is finding something that keeps my mind so engaged that I don't think about food. Or taking a long walk, and NOT eating as I walk! (Which I know some are prone to do.) I read something recently about identifying true hunger, and I am…

Tell the supervisor of the gym that she hogs the machine. Gyms usually have rules about such stuff.

let's all work together! I will send a friend request.

wow, that is awesome. Paying it forward, and forward again.

Wonderful post - I really could appreciate and identify. You did exactly right, in terms of what you did, and what you said, and your promise for the future. It most likely truly eased her mind and spirit to know she would not be cast adrift.

My coffee cup says "Well-behaved women seldom make history." Chaucer said "Amor Vincit Omnia" (Love conquers all) Sinatra said "Do bee do bee do"

Yah - I did that - it was a Pilates teacher from Paris who, instead of adjusting the exercises so that I could do them, told me I should not come to class if I'm so fat. Yes, I told the gym, and yes she was fired that day.

When you come to a gym, and you're not in shape, you get dissed a lot. People sneer at you, class leaders tell you you should lose weight before you show up, etc. Doesn't make for a conducive environment for workouts. They just want your money anyway, and don't give a crap about you. I've used gyms when in shape and not in…

On the other hand, people could be calling you Tiny. A huge guy I knew in middle school was nicknamed Tiny. Great guy, and never seemed to mind.

I have a Fitbit One. It's great. Best pedometer I've ever used, and really does track your activity. You can link it to MFP, and everything gets tracked. I keep it clipped to my bra during the day. You can use it to track your sleep, too (I don't - I find the wristband annoying, and I have a tendency to drop off before I…
