Don't call me "Big Mike"

I was just commenting on this yesterday. I often get compliments like "you're pretty for a bigger girl" or "I like the way you look, I've always liked girls with meat on their bones."
Its frustrating, because maybe they mean well... but its not flattering. I don't feel better about myself.
I HATE this!! I could live with "nice and curvy" or something like that but it is certainly not a compliment to call a girl "bigger".
Although it reminds me of a funny Amy Schumer (comedian) quote.
"I know I have a body type because of the way guys hit on : 'You look sturdy, like you could take a punch.'"
curvy pretty much means fat these days so it wouldn't matter
No. :noway:
<~~ has curves. is not fat.0 -
Some guy called me big ****, but my name's not richard.0

Next time, give the guy a break and use some lube0 -
I don't mind "Big Jimmy"....
.....ok ladies? ;-)0 -
My name is Mike.
I get "Mikey" much more than Big Mike.0 -
I've been "Big Will" since early high school. Ever since then, every new group I've been a part of has had one or two members who call me that. They never mean anything harsh by it, and I don't take it as such. I'm always going to be big, one way or the other, so why not OWN that title? Walk big, act big, BE big. And big don't mean "fat" - it means larger than life, so much that you make an impact in people's minds.
At my gym there's another Will in the weightlifting area - I'm "Big Will" and he's "Regular Will". Since we're in the same area, it's a good way to differentiate when you're trying to get our attention.
Granted, I've been called "Godzilla", "Chewbacca", "Ogre", and a few other things, so "Big Will" isn't the worst thing I've heard.0 -
If I describe a man as big it means stocky and meaty, not fat or anything offensive!
This...big strong man! Big guy means you better make me feel secure and tiny! I have a few friends on my list that I call big guy...because they are. No matter how much weight they lose, they're still going to be 6'6 and 200+ pounds, they're big dudes!0 -
People call me the Big O
I have no problem with it0 -

Post of the day! :laugh:0 -
People get called Little ___ as well, or skinny minny. Short people get called shorty, too. Do you find those offensive as well? Or is it just because you're sensitive to being called big that it irks you?0

Big Mike- Dont move to Jersey, you'll hate it0

I had the nickname "Little Bit" for years. I hated it. How am I supposed to be intimidating with a name like that?0
-
Hmm. I have an uncle and a cousin both named Paul My uncle was always referred to as Big Paul. His son, little Paul. By age 16, Little Paul, was taller and broader then Big Paul. They are still referred to in this manner today.
But, I can see your point.0 -
It's never my friends that call me big mike. It's random strangers. These people don't know me from Adam. They only know my name because it's printed on my shirt If anything I just don't understand it. I'd never call someone I don't know short or skinny in the chance that they're sensitive to those parts of themselves.0

But calling you m00tmike is legit? Seems perfectly logical...0 -

I can see where that would get annoying. Those who don't know my name usually say "big man" or "big guy".
And I'll agree - if you don't know a person, don't give them any sort of nickname. Big, little, whatever. You show some basic civility and respect before you assume familiarity. My wife is 4'10", and we joke about her being a "hobbit". But if you don't know her personally, you call her by her real name. (I think my family made one "Mutt and Jeff" joke and then left it at that )0 -

Actually yeah. I chose my username. It wasn't chosen by a random stranger. See how those are different? I don't call myself big mike. I also don't call old people old or walk up to a stranger and say "hi black person"0 -
Are you tall too?
Hubby got called Hoss at Starbucks, he just laughed.0 -

To me this just seems like you're looking for some big Jimmy and need a bit of help from the ladies finding it.0 -
There's a guy at my church.... he probably tips the scales easily at 290+ .... he calls me "Big Sexy"..... kinda' scares me..........0

On the other hand, people could be calling you Tiny. A huge guy I knew in middle school was nicknamed Tiny. Great guy, and never seemed to mind.0
