C25K Week 2

Get a brown paper bag, an ace bandage (or it's unbranded equivalent), vinegar, and an ice pack. Put all of this in a cabinet somewhere, and then go to the doctor.
-
I just wear what I've been wearing all day, which is boxer briefs.
-
My palms get sweaty, and I'd rather not lose my grip when doing rows and/or deadlifts. Granted it's more of a habit than anything (forced to wear gloves in the weight training classes I took in High School/College).
-
Yea, I'm going to film another set tomorrow. I'll try to angle the camera better. I'm wearing gloves because Squats is just my first set, and I like to go ahead and get them on.
-
I'm really quite short, so 6 inches lower than what I'm doing will probably put my *kitten* on my heels. The speed depends on what you're doing IMO. I'm going for lifting strength so I go down at a moderate pace, and push up as hard as I can. Once I finish the first 12 weeks of SL5x5 I'll probably start working on the…

I'll do another one tomorrow and position the camera better.

Thanks for the great responses everyone. I think I'll keep it to 3 days a week for now. As for those asking about the injury; it was a pretty rough case of shin splints due to wearing shoes that didn't work with my gait. After complaining about the shin splints for a while a buddy recommended a running shop, and when I…

Homemade pizza. Kneading the dough, and then tossing it helps relieve stress. The delicious finale is just the icing on the cake.

When it dawned on me that I could no longer sit up in bed, and had to roll out. Also, getting stuck in a squishy couch and being laughed at mercilessly. I knew something had to change.

I eat one thing at a time. I usually start with the main portion (burger and fries - eat burger first), but if I have multiple sides (chicken, mashed potatoes, and corn - start with veggies, then meat, then starches). I like to end my meals with a starch.

At the earliest it will be 2014, as they did not announce anything during E3 (with the exception of Wii...the Wii-U thing is coming soon, but I don't find it to be that alluring). The life expectancy of this generation of consoles was about 10 years. I think it's been...7or 8? Edit - On topic response: The Wii can be fun…

Bump for weekend awesomeness.

Not sure if anyone has brought up the point on the size of the meals (I didn't see anyone say it). For those of you that say it made McD get rid of their Supersize you should re-evaluate the size menu. After the backlash this movie caused all fast food joints upped their sizes. Small became Medium, Medium became Large, and…

This thread got pretty funny. At any rate, thanks for all of the suggestions. I looked at the price of compression shorts and decided to use some other suggestions. I brought my feet in about an inch/inch and a half along with my hands. With this my problem is solved. Thanks everyone!

A certain level of grunting while lifting should be expected. When exerting force an audible grunt allows the person to ensure they are exhaling instead of holding their breath. Hold your breath and you pass out (then end up on YouTube). I will agree that most of the people that "grunt" at the gym are actually yelling,…

Not being able to workout because everything is in use. That's why I set my home rig up.

Oh, and beer. I'll kill a 12-pack before I know what happened. That's where most of my weight came from since I drink craft beers (not that light crap).
-
Pizza and I are in always in a life and death struggle. I win the battles, but if I'm not careful pizza will win the war.

Welcome! Starting the journey to healthier living is awesome. Doing it now will help you in the long run.

Glad you decided to come out and introduce yourself!

5'7" HW: 275 about two months ago CW: 255 when I weighed in almost two weeks ago LW: 215 in college (2007-ish) My goal weight is set to 215 right now, but is ultimately irrelevant. I don't care what the number is as long as I'm healthy, and getting stronger.

It's only there for a second or two. It isn't so much that it's resting on my nuts, it's more of a 200lb bar rolling over my nuts. I have no difficulty deadlifting the weight, it's just crushing my berries. I'm not sure if you've ever ruptured a testicle or not (I'm going to assume you haven't). This is not something I…

I believe my arms are about shoulder width. I don't deadlift again until Saturday so after getting compression shorts I'll review my form again. Note: I'm in full upright on a 200lb deadlift in my profile picture if that gives anyone an idea.
-
Looks like I'll be going to the store for some compression shorts. Thanks for the ideas guys.
-
200+ deadlifts are heavy for me, considering I just started lifting weights for the first time again in a decade. Even then I never did deadlifts. I'll have to look into the compression shorts, see if it helps. Thanks.

There really isn't a rule of thumb when it comes to this topic. Do whatever works for you. If you cheat so bad that it undoes an entire week's worth of work you should probably revise your cheat plan. If you can't revise your cheat plan (self control), then don't do it at all. I do a cheat meal or two throughout the week…
