Neither is necessarily wrong. We don't know anything about the OP to make a judgment. She could be really short, which might make 1200 OK, she might be very overweight, making a 1000 calorie deficit OK.
-
They do? Odd.
-
Yeah, this all jumped out at me too. And at 160 your BMI was on the lower end of normal. Aside from the choking thing it sounds like your parents weren't being unsupportive, they were trying to keep you from going down a dangerous path.

Do apple fritters count as donuts? (They sell them at the donut shop!) Then you could get some fruit, too!
-
Why do you assume it was stolen? Sounds more likely that you dropped it and someone picked it up. If it makes you feel any better, the Zips aren't that expensive.
-
Have you been struggling to lose weight with just calorie restriction or is the low carb for something other than weight loss?
-
Those containers aren't going to be accurate. I think it would be more of a hassle to load everything into them than it would be to simply weigh your food on a scale. And then there's the cost. You can do something more accurate and simple for free.
-
Right? How does one think it is more helpful to fill their head with more nonsense rather than give them info they can use? I will never understand this.
-
I lost over 30 and no one noticed so don't feel bad! You'll feel better and that's really all that matters.
-
Duh. (Can I say that or is duh too colloquial? Can I say colloquial or is it too big?)
-
Really? And as someone who has suffered from both PPD and depression, let me tell you that telling us to "join a moms group or take up a sport" is extremely offensive. You might as well say, "snap out of it." It's just not that simple. I hope the OP does seek out help, it's very difficult to get through it without it.
-
Like you just don't care?
-
Breastfeeding is no guarantee for weight loss. Myself and many other women did not drop weight while nursing.
-
"As soon as I got the pills, I started losing." Which is why people keep saying when your medical issues are under control.
-
Moar dots!
-
Indeed, because those medical issues cause people to overeat or undereat. For example, I could say that I gained weight because of depression. Actually I gained weight because I overate while self-medicating with food. The depression itself didn't cause magical weight gain. I think that's all anyone is saying. Whatever…

OMG, thank you for posting! Everyone, including my doctor, looks at me like I am a kook when I say that the machines read me high. OP, did you ask your doctor about the skin? It's odd that your BP drops when you stand. Back when i was in college, my bp was typically low, too low to donate plasma, so they'd have me stand…
-
Right. I think the takeaway from this is that anyone can lose weight, no matter their condition. They might have to work at it a little harder to figure out their personal calorie level, it might be very slow for some. But everyone can do it.

I don't understand DKA so I am not going to pretend to. I do understand that someone telling you that you were having hallucinations during a crisis that is known to cause hallucinations is not even remotely on the same plane as calling you a liar.
-
How exactly is it supportive of a person to tell them, "Sure! Waste your money! It won't work in any meaningful way but hey, I SUPPORT you!" Blind support is not helpful. In addition, this OP did not say that they're taking this and want high fives for it, they specifically asked whether or not it was something useful. I'm…

I have not had to deal with it. I have always read that it is genetic, and that it is just fat and that with a low enough body fat percentage it shouldn't be visible anymore. It's more about the body fat percentage than a weight because we've all seen fairly thin women that still have it. But! I could be wrong, perhaps…

I've recognized that I am comfortable eating lightly during the day and more at night so I shifted my eating. It's OK to eat at night, that was a good thing for me to learn!
-
I think it's woo personally. Of course if you cut your calories enough, you will lose weight. But that's not due to any special "properties" of their products. You could get the same results with less hunger and less expense on your own.
-
Also, OP, the crockpot could be your friend. Drop stuff in and leave it until it's done. You can find a ton of easy recipe ideas online.
-
Well, there are things called Willie Warmers. I suppose you could get one of those and put your banana in a sweater. (Google "willie warmer" at your own risk.)
-
It doesn't matter if you eat fast food or sandwiches (what's wrong with sandwiches?!) and it doesn't matter if you drink water. If you are not in a deficit, you won't lose. Are you weighing your food? Eating back exercise calories?
-
It's been one week. It's far too early to make assessments about a deficit. Weight loss is not linear, some weeks ya just don't lose.
-
What does what she said have to do with starvation?
-
How much prep is too much? We had a great meal the other night. I opened and reheated frozen diced chicken. I opened and rinsed off a can of corn and a can of black beans. I heated an Uncle Ben's rice pouch. I opened a bag of lettuce. I did exert myself and chop some fresh tomatoes, LOL. You make up a yummy salad with all…

The reason people behave this way is because they are allowed to. Somehow they get through life without anyone ever saying to them, "Hey, your behavior is unacceptable." OP, if you give in to his demands you're just reinforcing this behavior even more. Send him to doctors just as suggested above.
