I just look at it as a visual indicator of how that particular day went as far as weight loss is concerned. I think they show 5 weeks out because it is a bigger number, and more likely to get your attention, either positively, of negatively. I just look at it as, "hey, I did well today and will have great results if I keep…

Great story. Congrats on all your progress. You figured this out quick!!!

I have the same issue and am working on it. My understanding is that you can't target an area for fat loss. So in order to lose, you have to eat at a caloric deficit and it will eventually come off. What you can do is work on the muscle groups under the fat, so when you lose the fat, you have some definition there. So I am…

Please post links to facts about this. I have never heard this before, it sounds fishy, and when I tried googling it, I couldn't find anything.

I just think, for most people, it's easier to not eat those 500 calories, than it is to burn them. I know it is for me.

Good info. Thanks for posting. My takeaway is, that like most things, this is a complex issue, with more than one simple answer. Also, curious how he gained 40 lbs. following the food pyramid "to a t", and working out 4-5 hours EVERY DAY.

The miltary calc gave you 52.7% and the others were in he 20's? That can't be right. In my research, I found the miltary to be the most accurate when I compared to caliper readings. It's kind of a cap shoot, so if you're only interested in improving the number, pick one, stick with it and track the trend lower, hopefully.

Get loost and hang lose, will ya?!?!?!

:flowerforyou: Well said. If everyone had your outlook/approach, these types of designations would have the desired outcome (ie: helping people to overcome their "diseaese"). However, far too often the unintended consequences are, that people don't take your position of personal responsibility to "cure" their "disease",…

Be careful what power you give to govenment, remember someone has to choose which "vices" are taxed/regulated/outlawed, and YOUR favorite may be next. For me personal respnsibility is the way to go. As long as you're not hurting anyone else, do whatever you want.

Strong Lifts 5x5. You will need to purcase some equipment, but it can be a quick , fun workout and show results. Other than that, any heavy weightlifting with a little cardio thrown in should do the trick. Good luck!

As weights got heavier, I had been increasing rest time to upwards of 5 minutes or more. This allowed me to complete a full 5 reps, but was causing my workout to take 2 hours. One of the things that drew me to SL in the first place was that I feel, it has the best ratio of time invested to benefit received. I loved when I…

Hi, I am in the same boat. I am 52, haven't lifted since I was in my 20's. I just started SL a couple months ago. This forum is a good place to start, and you have gotten some good advice on here. There are a lot of experienced guys on here and they are very helpful. I have lost over 60 lbs., and my goal is really just to…

danimal,I have continued to work on your suggestion to "lock in" the bar, and think I am getting better at it. What I found was that when I first pick up the bar, I have my shoulder blades back, and am locked in. Then once I start squating I am focusing on my squating form and not realizing I was losing it. I am going to…
