  • People with hypertension should have no more than 1500 per day; if you don't have hypertension or kidney problems you can have up to 2300. I don't know what the lowest you can go. Your body needs sodium.
  • I don't link my exercise to my food plan. I want to stay below my designated calories. But I'm obese and have a long way to go. I log my exercise. I have a fit bit also. But I have my preference in MFP not to offset my calories to eat by the exercise I do. I want the extra calories burned.
  • I usually eat in the car on the way to work. I usually grab a poptart, not very healthy, but it is quick and I'm allowed a little bit of extra sugar, since I am low protein. Weekends I eat cereal or make pancakes or waffles.
  • I am right there with you. We can beat this!
  • Ooh this is me. 218 my first goal is 184. I'm on the Alli program, 1800 calorie. Anyone else ever tried Alli?
  • I suffer from depression and anxiety. I am a survivor. I'm on meds that helps a lot. I exercise at home. Feel free to friend me. Exercise does help.
  • I have learned quick to log the food before I eat. Don't assume anything. I'm always shocked.
  • Diet soda does not cause weight gain. What the studies show is that alot of times overweight people drink diet soda thinking they are doing helpful things when they order the big mac with fries. In that case it is not cause weight gain. I drink Diet Soda - it keeps me from getting hungry and I like it better than water all…
  • I have, but eating the way he describes makes me sicker than better. I think each person has to eat for their own body. What works for me doesn't work for my husband.
  • For medical purposes it is all considered water. But straight water is best or water with fruit. But medically to get to your desired 8 or for me 12 it can include all beverages.
  • I appreciate your note. I work a lot of hours and my husband doesn't mind cooking but everything he cooks is high caloric and from a box, mix, or can. I have to eat clean due to strict doctors instructions for my health. It is hard but definitely worth it. I try to cut up all fruits/vegs from my low oxalate list on Sunday.…
  • Hope to get some motivation to add exercise to my daily plan. I really need to stretch. I'm thinking ballet. Really enjoyed New Year's Day it was quite and I got to read; one of my passions. Looking forward to seeing what everyone has to say on this link.
  • Authority Nutrition website has a lot of paleo diets on their site.
  • This is a problem for me too. I drink very little water and alot of Diet Coke. I really need to drink more water, but Diet Coke tastes so much better.

  • Not for the calcium only. There is a government info on preventing different types of kidney stones. Just google and it should come up.
  • I have been passing kidney stones for 20 years. I was told to drink at least 12 cups of liquid a day and a low oxalate diet. The low oxalate diet was hard when combining with a low protein, low salt, low fat diet, with GI issues when I raise my vege and fruits. The more fruits and veges you eat and bread the higher the…
  • I went back to GI doc today. He took 6 vials of blood. Doing 2 breath tests Thursday and Friday for lactose and/or bacteria. Colonoscopy next week. Hopefully they will find what is causing me my woes. Eating low residue is working best for me, but that is not healthy. Doctor wants to find out what is going on so I can eat…

  • For me it is any fat free salad dressing or fat free cheese. I can handle the low fat versions, but Yuck on the fat free versions.
  • A good book to help you count your carbs or work with exchanges is The New Diabetic cookbook by Mabel Cavaiani, 5th edition. This is a cookbook not a dietician/nutritionist. But the author is a dietician and a diabetic she discusses all the food groups what you can eat and what you should avoid, talks about food exchanges…
  • Most hospitals offer dietitian training on diabetic diet for new diabetics or uncontrolled diabetics. If not the hospital, your primary physician should set up diabetic teaching for you. At least that is how it works in the U.S.A.
  • I know! We all want a gimmich and a short fix. I have been off and on of DASH for years never successfully keeping the weight off, now I'm working on the Mediterranean diet which is quite simple but I have 28 days of meal plans to help me learn the plan, rather to think it up myself. We have gotten so dependent on fast…
  • I do get my carb count daily. I have mine set up to give me a total sugar count and a total carb count, total salt count, total protein count, and total fat count. Also on the phone app it gives you even more or a nutrition break down. I haven't found that on the website.
  • Me too. I have had mild ulcerative colitis for over 10 years. I have gained a large amount of weight since I started work as a coder. I can not eat a "healthy diet " it throws me in a flare. Rowasa didn't work, prednisone didn't work. I basically try to control it with diet, eating low residue, taking a vitamin, and…
  • That is great. I am bad about not taking my BP daily like I am supposed to. When I do I take in morning before my bp medicine and in the evening when I get home from work.
  • I'm new. I have always eaten according to a high carb, low fat, low meat diet. But after reading Daniel Lieberman's book, "The Story of the Human Body" I have been working towards less carbs. Then this week came out a study showing that people eating a low carb diet, with saturated fat and meat, lost more weight and less…
