I agree with your post. However , for me, I have found that I have to focus on a "number" in some form or another. Whether it is counting calories, points, carbs, whatever, I know for me that I do not lose unless I pay close attention to this. I agree 100% we have to put good fuel in our bodies, but you need to watch how…

Adding 300 calories to your plan doesn't mean you are now eating crap like potato chips! When I upped my calories I added healthy foods to my plan. It was at this point that I started to lose more weight each week than when I was eating only 1200 calories a day. You can & do lose weight on more calories than that & it…

Congratulations on your great success so far. I have only re-started MFP a little over a month ago, so I haven't hit a plateau myself yet. However, my sister had a plateau that lasted a little over three months when she had lost quite a bit of weight. She started changing up her exercise routine and re-worked her caloric…

I used to work for Walmart and saw this type of stuff all the time. Sadly it seems as if talking about other people like that makes the person feel better about themselves in some strange way. It always seems to be women too who do this for some reason. The men with them always look as if they could disappear through a…

This. Found out the hard way. My ex husband was letting it happen all the time.

I wish I would have known that it is okay to love myself right now just as I am today. I wish I would have known that dieting is no fun, but making lifestyle changes is exciting. I wish I would have known that talking positively to myself works so much better than talking negatively. I wish I would have known that no one…

There is no room for guilt in a healthy eating plan/lifestyle change. Everything in moderation. As long as you are making healthy choices most of the time, one snickers is not going to ruin all your new healthy habits!

Welcome, feel free to add me if you like.

There are 12.2g in the cupcake 16.4 with the frosting I made these tonight and they were really good. My hubby ate three of them!

BBQ tofu: Wrap tofu in kitchen towel and press between two plates to remove as much water as possible (about 30 minutes.) Slice into 1/2 inch wide strips lengthwise. Lay on foil lined cookie sheet that has been lightly coated with about 1/4 cup bbq sauce. Top with another 1/4 cup bbq sauce. Bake at 325* F for about one…

This sounds good. Will be trying soon.

This is so true. and sad as well. I spend more time doing paperwork than actual patient care!

Please don't start your new journey feeling ashamed. I think most of us have been where you are. I first joined MFP over two years ago and did the same thing, (except change my name.) I finally came back a little over a month ago and was determined to work it this time. Because of my new attitude I have been able to lose…

MFP has been working really well for me. I live less than an hour from Disney and well, when you live that close you get tired of the place (yes, it can happen don't boo me.) I am doing this to get in better health. Heart disease, strokes, diabetes, high cholesterol and cancer runs in my family. I am trying to avoid them…

I don't think anyone is coming down on you. You asked for advice & people are trying to help & offer suggestions etc. For almost every piece of helpful advice someone has given you it seems as if you have a reason why you can't do it! The people here have been in your shoes and are telling you ways that you can help…

Nothing stops me from snacking! I have planned snacks included in my plan, this was at my doctors suggestion. To eat 3 meals & 2-3 snacks every day with no more than 3-4 hours between eating. This has really made a difference for me this time around. I rarely if ever feel hungry. But, the quality of your snacks is what is…

I make oat bran pita pizzas with lots of veggies. Brush the pita with 2 tsp. low fat Italian dressing. Bake at 375 F* for 5 minutes. Add 2 tablespoons pizza sauce, 1/4 cup fat free mozzarella cheese, and 1/4 cup green pepper & onion (heat in microwave on high for 1 minute to soften) Bake for 8 minutes more until crisp. I…

I like to butterfly my boneless, skinless chicken breasts. Rub a tiny amount of grape-seed oil onto both sides, season with spices (whatever you like) then grill on my stove-top grill over medium high until thermometer reaches 160* in thickest part of the breast. I then serve it with 1 tablespoon BBQ sauce on the side.…

That sounds really good, will have to give it a try. I love recipes for the slow cooker.

You can still eat out & stay within your portions/calorie range. Almost every restaurant has nutrition information available now-a-days you just need to ask them or go online & find it. I have printed out several for many restaurants that way I can plan ahead. I know you believe you have a "plan" but it doesn't seem well…

So happy that your baby is doing better and that you have managed to control your weight with all that was going on in our life. God bless you and your little one.

I'm not a big breakfast eater either. Somethings I have learned to enjoy eating are Thomas' Bagel thins with whipped butter or 1/2 cup cottage cheese with a piece of fruit. Like the others have said, you could throw some leftovers in the microwave & heat it up, it doesn't have to be typical breakfast food to start your day.

Hi and welcome. I agree, get a food scale, measuring cups, and log everything honestly. If you do that you will see results.

Thanks LJV1031, I really do love it. Although some days I tell myself I just can't watch another family grieving but I think I would really miss it if I tried to do anything else.

Although it can be emotionally hard working with Hospice patients I find being able to be there at a very difficult time in a patient's life one of the most rewarding experiences ever. I do crisis care which usually occurs when my patients are actively dying, I get to be there to support the families emotionally as well as…

I went to nursing school at the age of 41 due to the economy. Prior to that I was a massage therapist (still do that as well) and a CNA for 18 years.
