I think it's a solid move not deleting your history. Wounds hurt, scars remind us to not do it again. When they are allowed to fade on their own it tends to be long after we no longer need reminding of why to travel on a different path. I don't know if it sounds like a cop-out to you, but often times what really helps me is to try and remember that I have all of the skills I need to achieve my goal.
