I am an unfair weather runner. I won't run when it is sunny and hits 75. Can't stand the heat. But have no problem running in the 30's. Last September I couldn't walk three miles. I ran a 1/2 marathon Sunday with only walking a one block segment. And I had to get new running shoes because I wore out the first pair. But it…

I am registered for a half marathon May 4th. Call me crazy. :)

Thanks for all of the great encouragment and ideas. I ran the entire race with an average of 12.22 minutes per mile. Personal best. Never walked once.

Wow! Thanks already. I am feeling a lot better about this already. I am out the door.

Because I truly eat way, way too much. I retain a lot of water from it. I can tell a major difference in my legs by not having any added salt for the last 4 days. I work out every day and keep my calories at 1200. When I work off calories I eat those calories back to keep at the 1200. I won't stop eating salty foods (or…

Well, I not only survived my first endevor without salt but actually liked the switch. Threw some grape tomatoes and onion into my scrambled eggs along with a dash of Mrs Dash. Then topped it with salsa. Much to my surprise it was really good. Thanks, all for the suggestions.

I will still cook with it. And I eat lunch meat occasionally. I still get quite a bit of sodium in my diet (a lot of time over) without adding more. I am also very lucky it doesn't mess with my blood pressure. Last time I was in, my BP was 95/67.

Mine turned out really thin. Like a crepe. Loved the flavor. Just not thrilled with the thiness. Would adding baking soda help? Noticed that someone did that.

The best time is to always be consistent. I pick the time I will probably weight the least. It makes me feel better about myself. So I weigh on Wednesday mornings as soon as I get out of bed and go to the bathroom (naked). Wednesday gives me a few days to recover from the weekend and the time gets me before I have added…

I am lucky that I like to work out and also have the time. It is not unusual for my average burn to be 500 calories a day. So I really don't have a problem with hunger or feeling like I can't eat well.

I always eat back my calories that I work off. I am at 1200. But I always have some exercise calories to add back in. So to me and my thinking 1200 isn't low as a base. Just work out some and eat back the calories. If this a wrong thought?

I picked up a Polar FT4 and a lot of exercises MFP was higher and then some MFP was lower. But glad I got the heart monitor. In all cases my calorie burn was lower than what the machine (eliptical, rower) said.

Neither say before or after cooking. Generally I have always measured the veggies after cooking or microwaving. But dumped some in a veggie broth to make a quick soup and measured frozen. I am betting there is a lot less in the frozen measure than the cooked.

Usually I know about our drinking plans for the night and I adjust. Usually by working out a bit more and maybe eating a bit less. But since I am on 1200 calories my general plan of attack is to do a little more working out. Lunch time I might walk or do stairs. If I have time before I go out I will add extra minutes to…

Keep track over the weekends. If your restaurant isn't listed, find a food that is close. You might make different choices from the menu if you see you are eating a lot more calories than you anticipated. Other times your yummy and high calorie choice is still what you want and get, but you could always add some more…

I know my swimsuit is getting loose too. First thought it was loosing the elasticity. Then realized that 20 lb weight loss probably has a lot to do with it. So that might be why it is getting looser.

I even the sales guy I wanted it for swimming. I am relatively new. I swim non-stop for 40 minutes and huff and puff. But I do it. I was so frustrated last night when I kept stopping trying to get it to pick up my heart rate. Can I use the chest strap in the water? Or if I use PoolMate Pro can I use it for other exercising…

I have my meals where I eat like crap. We always have Old Chicago nachos on Wednesdays. Have since 2002. Not going to change now. But I also make sure I work out to burn the 895 calories for my 1/2 plate plus enough to cover my tall beer. Same with Thursdays when we eat Twin Peaks. I eat healthy breakfast, lunch and…

I meant FT7. Not FP.

None, when I work out.

Awesome job. I am a new (struggling) runner also. I will bargain with myself. I won't let myself quit at the end of one. But tell myself that I can quit running and switch to walking at the end of the two mile mark. I am pretty slow, so that is close to 30 minutes. But I have noticed that if I can get to that two mile mark…

All done.

Sorry, I lumped my upper workout into arms. But I know it is for other upper body parts. I tend to think of them as either a leg workout or an arm workout.

There are a lot of Zumba songs on youtube. I save to favorites 50 minutes of songs I love for those days that I just can't get to the gym.

Thanks for all of the info. I will try to remember what some of you have asked. I am 5'5" and currently weigh154. I am lossing approximately 1.5 pounds each week. Sometimes a little less or more. But never have lost 2 pounds (other than first week). So think my calories are appropriate. I don't do caffeine. So having some…

Clarification on my running. I am really slow. I do 14.3 for each mile. lol

Do you mean rest from running or rest from all exercise? I very rarely take a day off from all excercise. I like my food too much.

I just make sure that I workout enough that I can have 3 or 4 beers and I do not feel like I am "missing out" on anything. If I had to give up some of the things I really, really love I am pretty sure this new and healthy eating would not last very long. But I just make myself burn the calories that I want to consume.…

I get great clothes from Goodwill. I am picky too. Like name brands. Skip over store brands like Kohls, Target and JC Penneys.
