Keto on the cheap- Number of tips 1. Meal plan. 2. 2. Frozen meat generally cheaper. 3. 3.Choose generic brands and cheaper supermarkets is a big one. I shop at Aldi in the UK had a shock when I went to Waitrose. £4 for a fennel bulb! 4.Also check out ethnic i.e Indian shops for coconut oil or ghee. Apparently extra virgin…

I agree- so many new clever low carb recipes that I was not aware of when I originally did LCHF. eg. zoodles, cauliflower mash. I need to organize my pin boards but have had fun trying out recipes!

Hi mine is open too.

Thanks it was really frustrating for about a month. Glad I persisted ( it really helped having good support on here for inspiration!) and stayed in keto while trying the other macro levels.

Thanks Alliwan. I love the Bento/Geek/Purple stuff too!

I think this has been mentioned before but baked parmesan courgette (zucchini!) are the best and are easy to make. This is a two ingredient recipe. http://www.fivehearthome.com/2014/06/21/baked-parmesan-zucchini-rounds/ I add a bit of onion powder. Also, I don't add the parmesan one teaspoon at a time but add courgette to…

Just an update- Lost 9 pounds since starting. 9 pounds in 11 days! Very happy!

Thank you :) Looks like a great website to get ideas. Thanks for the tips re protein. Eating a lot of bacon, eggs, salmon and chicken so easily max on the protein. Seems like it is working at the one week mark however this is where I stalled last time. Will wait a few more days to be convinced that on right track.

Thank you so much for the recipe OP! I've had this 3 days in a row and I am losing about 1lb a day. Admittedly only a week into the Atkins again but its at least my third time trying induction. Last time I was resistant to weight loss and stalled. It does taste better than I thought it would do. I love the coco-nutty…

Hi zynx and picnic, More information is needed before people can give any advice e.g. which type of low carb diet are you doing Atkins, Paleo, South Beach or something else, what are your macro goals and, most importantly what is your maximum amount of carbs that you want to consume a day? Are you both trying to do…

Cool. I love experimenting too with food to get it perfect too  I'll give a go in the oven when I have time

Fantastic ideas. I'm starting work next week so was about to ask the same thing about what to take

I would avoid for 2 weeks while you get back into ketosis. I was curious as to why they were restricted, reasons given is they still have carbs and are moreish-so hard to control how much you eat. Going into ketosis is a very personal thing I eat more cheese than recommended and it works but avoiding nuts at the moment…

I've been to different UK branches of Subway and they all serve their fillings as salad. They have special boxes for that reason. Never been a big deal. On another similar note I just had a mexican salad with braised chicken, guacamole, grated cheddar, lettuce, tomatoes, onion, sour cream and chilli from Benito's hut in…

Hi if you do a youtube search for exercise tv you will come up with loads. I still think the tae bo ones are great with Billy Blanks. I also found a cute zumba one too http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDgbBdS9W54&feature=related

Thanks for the genuine response. I absolutely agree with you that there is a huge amount of information out there about different diets. Low carb works for me in terms of weight loss but haven't done maintenance properly so will probably do the same as you.

I'm definitely making it too!! I'm thinking it will be ok with the slabs of mozzarella that she puts on it

She looks amazing-hard to believe that she is 52!!

It's definitely worth experimenting with the chocolate. I increased the quality of the cocoa (cheap value to Green and Black's) but still wasn't chocolatey enough for me. I have in the past chipped 5g of 70% dark chocolate into the muffin and this seems to work better for chocolate taste. Let us know if it makes a…

Some of the publications that show a link to heart disease I have copied below. There are many more in the references. http://www.bmj.com/content/344/bmj.e4026 http://www.pnas.org/content/106/36/15418?ijkey=d860587f631ef900bd51f2967c1d0b820c60b218&keytype2=tf_ipsecsha&linkType=ABST&journalCode=pnas&resid=106/36/15418…

I know its really basic but I make a cheese and onion omelette. I fry a small amount, 10g, of onions, in butter for 1 minute on medium/high. Add 3 beaten eggs, Push in from the edge using spatula/fish slice so most of the uncooked runny eggs gets fried. Add cheese once half cooked. I slice or add grated cheese up to 30g of…

Hi I am a low carber and have to admit I am a little worried about the link to heart disease in the long run. What do you guys think?

Hi OP put an emoticon for laugh :D so was a joke. I am from UK and ordered from lowcarbmegastore they have probably the best selection of the low carb websites in uk. I had a look at avidlite and their delivery might be a little cheaper something that is dependent on what you are ordering. Avidlite do seem to have frequent…

More ideas could be from atkins recipes on youtube. The user bowulf has many low carb recipes too. http://www.youtube.com/user/bowulf

The weight loss should slow down soon. Read this blog I found it useful about the changes that are happening to your body and answers your question directly. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/LowcarbNY

Also a lot of the crispbreads seem to be relatively low carb too when eating one or two -look at finncrisp and hovis wheatgerm crackers.

I guess linseed/flaxseed should be ok substitute for grains. Very high fibre low carb. Mim (muffin in a minute) thread is a suggestion of how to incorporate into diet. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/453964-low-carb-muffin-in-a-minute. or can just use as supplement Ground flax seed is found at Holland and Barrett…
