  • Absolutely be proud of yourself! You've worked hard, and continue to do so! Be good to you. <3
  • ~raising hand~ Ah, yep! This is exactly where I'm at - and considering I've been a 'member' since 2012, it's definitely not my first rodeo. @kristingjertsen I'm kind of glad that I'm not the only one who uses their military history as a reference for where we ought to be. 😉 My back is jacked-up too, but not to your extent,…

  • Pretty much the same here. Unlike the mood stabilizers I've been on, which can take up to two months...talk about a giant time/mood-suck with the medicine wheel...oy! :dizzy:

  • Wellbutrin is one of the few brain meds that doesn't cause weight gain (normally.) Worse case scenario, you may not lose *because of it* but you won't gain *because of it* either.

  • A suggestion that I'm going to attempt in July: baking healthier versions of loved desserts/baked goods. Perhaps you could take a healthier cake down to her, for you both to enjoy; or, if she visits again, have something on standby. It's a good launching point for discussion. I totally get the bouts of bingeing, so when I…
  • This looks so awesome! I'll be travelling from TN to FL on the 3rd, but I'll be home before midnight EST.
  • "And someone else will say that they're on Month ELEVEN and everyone celebrates that in less than 28 days, she'll graduate to the magic land of postmenopause where everything is rainbow glitter unicorn kittens." But I was really, *really* looking forward to the rainbow glitter unicorn kittens!! Seriously though,…
  • I would totally be good with *not* being special this way. ~sad chuckle~
  • Preach, woman! Two days ago, everything was a normal morning...by the evening, I was ready to throat-punch people (mood swing from nowhere and didn't even think, after four months of nothing and being happy about it.) Next morning, G'demmit!! However, that'd explain why I hadn't dropped much of anything as I should have,…
  • I found that the Couch to 5k was the best way to ease my knees and shins back into the jogging game. (I developed shin splints in Basic Training, so it's been a life-long issue, unfortunately.) Although I enjoy jogging, my shoulder couldn't take the force (yeah, I need duct tape) but I'd gotten up to doing 5 and 10k…
  • For me, it has and hasn't. Due to a myriad of issues, I went rather rabid on counting and tracking...and made myself and my family (and probably quite a few friends) miserable. It took me hitting my goal weight, sustaining, and then running into a different medical issue, that I was humbled (smacked upside my head with a…
  • Here's a possible meet-up, in Allen, TX: https://www.meetup.com/Allen-Tai-Chi-for-Wellness/ In Denton: https://www.meetup.com/Walking-Socializing/ In Frisco: https://www.meetup.com/FREE-DanceFit-Workouts-Zumba/ These are just a start...and go fig, nothing in Melissa itself...sorry 'bout that. I was stationed in San Antonio…
  • I grew up near Wayland, but never liked snow and the Air Force gave me the option to get out. I miss Michigan in real Spring, Summer, and real Fall. ("real Spring and Fall" don't get snow...heh.) ;)
  • This looks like fun and I'd be game for it. I'll head on over to the Group page and join!
  • This would be a good time for her father to teach kindness, and consideration. Six-year-olds can understand explanations of how to be kind *while being truthful*, as long as the grown-up puts it in terms they understand/examples of empathy.
  • I put off going to Disney World for a few years because I felt sooo *yuck* and like I was too big for the seats (some of it was actual, but a majority was a sort of 'body dimorphic') but I used it as a motivator because I really, really wanted to go. In my opinion, Disney is *so much more* accommodating to bigger folks,…
  • Welcome, Mary! I'm in Tallahassee, Florida. I'll add you!
  • Regarding thyroid: Within a two month period of time, I went from having an "okay" thyroid to hypothyroid. I was put on Synthroid for it and will be on it for the rest of my life. I hate meds, but I had being sick *more*. Regarding therapy: check with local colleges and/or social services to see if anyone will work with…
  • @missvyris, I've been there...and it took a while for hormones to get back to 'normal'. You should be having a follow-up with your doctor soon, yes no? If no, please make an appointment. Please be kind to you, have patience with your body and yourself. I agree with @sammyjo0218 that you should have your thyroid…
  • (((Hugs))) My heart goes out to you, as I had fur-kin who have passed from similar. Please be as kind to you as possible. I don't know your belief system, and I know you may not want to read it now, but for me, I find some comfort in the "Rainbow Bridge" story/poem.

  • Yeah, the thing with carbs is you need them to like, live ya know? :D Dieticians...bless their hearts. But yeah, T1 is rough because even all the things that are *good for you* have carbs...so like...dang you carbs!! I just went to look to see if there was a group for T1, and see you found them...so yay that! I'll bug my…
  • I spoke with my husband who was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was eight and a half years old (he's now 48.) I asked if you might best be served by meeting with a nutritionist/dietician, if possible. He reminded me that "every diabetic is a unique individual and most of them (nutritionists/doctors/etc.) have a…
  • The last time I was hard-core, extremely-carb-controlling, I looked at the Mueller's box for serving size, and then read all the nutrition label, and proceeded to get really bummed. I was like, "That's it?! How is *that* a "serving size"? Is it for a bird?!" It's still a lil bit daunting/depressing at times, but hey...at…
  • For whatever it's worth, when I was in the U.S. Air Force, in Basic Training, we were required to drink 2-eight ounce glasses of water *before eating.* "They" said it was to help us feel fuller, quicker, and to keep us from getting dehydrated during marching. By the end of Basic, we *learned* to hold our pee to the point…
