Hi, I've had the same experience- lost 70lb a year ago then put 80lb back on. Add me and we can help each other get this done again! Chris

This makes the winter head freezes worthwhile ;)

A wonderful achievement! You look great and I hope you feel as good as you look. Wishing you every happiness in the future.

Hi, I took up cycling in August last year as low impact option for weight loss. I currently ride 4 times a week usually totalling around 60 miles. I'm riding on tarmac on a Specialized Crosstrail hybrid and really enjoying the exercise. Looking forward to the spring though as I'm exercising regardless of weather and the…

How much do you think evening eating in the past was responsible for your weight problem? If not really then you can save calories for that time of day and that should be fine. However, if you always have had a compulsion to eat at this time, and this has contributed to you being overweight, then you need to take the…

The OP should remember that the evidence he cites for his assertion is a youtube blog that is a presentation of one persons personal opinion and interpretation. It is not an accumulation of peer reviewed scientific papers from substantially qualified scientists or medics that amass evidence that would lead to a well…

I occasionally don't start my weekday cycles until well after 9pm to allow the maniac traffic to die down a bit. Works well for me... just have to be sure that you can resist a late night food binge when you get back as it will stimulate your appetite.

I have to exercise late in the evening most of the time, after kiddy is in bed. I find that, as long as I wait an hour after our evening meal it's good. In fact if I do go out at the weekend without eating I feel less fuelled and often end up taking on a banana or suchlike on the way round.

I don't know about the wisdom of Brits eating Thanksgiving dinner with Americans - but I seem to remember there was a tea party in Boston that turned into a bit of trouble :)

Losing 4 pounds does not make someone a health and fitness expert! Yet again we have another post based on someones imagined pseudoscence rather than hard established peer reviewed fact! I'm actually surprised that I can respond to this thread however, as I usually eat below the BARE MINIMUM these days so should be dead?

I'd been in your situation for years....never really committing and always saying" I really should" or "tomorrow I will". At the beginning of this I got 2 good simple pieces of advice - one for eating and one for exercise. 1] Eating. List EVERYTHING you eat and DO NOT go over your daily allowance tailored for weight loss.…

Agree with all of the above. Really brave of you to open up your diary and let everyone see what you've been doing with the program..... but you need to engage with it or you won't make progress. Eat healthily (no junk food for a while) and log everything like an obsession, even a single grape! Exercise regularly and as…

Great information. Thanks for posting your chart.

If nobody ever wondered "why" we'd still be scraping animal hides with flint tools! The universe is full of wonders waiting to be discovered and understood....even the wonder wobbling aroung your waist ;)

Fantastic point. Child growth and fat-adult shrinkage all occuring rapidly once a biochemical threshold is reached and then the triggered biological processes happen quickly. Wow....if we could make a drug that kept those processes switched on :)

The best theory I have at the moment is about fluid intake. I'm mindful at the weekends to drink loads and I don't mind doing that as I am at largely home and only a few steps from the comfort of my bathroom. At work it is a long walk to the water cooler and the restroom so my fluids are probably not so dynamic. The other…

The washrooms in my workplace are long walk from my desk. I really should get a pedometer and start claiming all these bathroom treks back as exercise calories. (Alternatively, I have been tempted to buy a bucket but alas it's an open plan office).

I'd just double check your numbers. Are you overestimating your calorie burn? For cardio stuff you can use a monitor like a fitbit or iphone based GPS to give you a more measured readout of your burn. Also, your intake is still quite high and I'd double check that you are not actually eating more than you think. Your…

There's a question here. Is it really possible to efficiently achive catabolic (fat burning) and anabolic (muscle building) processes at the same time? As with everything fitness related, I've read every side of the argument and have found no good agreement. But it makes sense to me that trying to do both at the same time…

Ahhh...mothers. Now they deserve a brand new topic all of there own. I'm sure if a lot of us went to therapy to talk about why we are overweight, for many the word "mother" would pop up in the first 2 minutes!

Yes! Those too. They often ask you how much you've lost and how and before you can summon up an answer, we're back to them and how they've lost. I don't mind this so much though becuase it's nice to see someone enthusastic about their journey. The strangest ones are those who think they are contenders but aren't actually.…

All of these are good observations. It's true that there seems to be a bunch of people who, almost subconciously, want to stop you losing weight. Surprisingly, these people can be amongst your closest friends! I think we underestimate sometimes the role we have played in being someones "fat friend". The person that they…

I've just had to move mine to the slighly fatter finger on my other hand after losing it twice. Nice to see results when trousers get to loose but wedding rings are more difficult to fix. Do you resize now, wait until you reach goal or even wait until you've maintained goal for a while before you go chopping bits out?!

Thanks all. Motivated by your kind words I got the bike out and managed a 7 mile round trip. 500 calories apparently (always amazed how much effort is required to burn of less than 2 chocolate bars!). As usual, the reality of the exercise was much more pleasant than the thought of it. Just have to turn it into a habit now.
