Im with you brother, those two have patience. I don't. LOL I don't like debating online, and communication is naturally a bit difficult for me. Those two have it in spades. :)

Or you could listen to everyone here and say if you can choose, choose free weights over machines. They're proven better. I do agree that machines are better than nothing. But if you can pick. Pick the right one.

Sara you continue to inspire me every day!! Thank you for all of your advice and support! I owe you so much! Thank you for posting your story, I know how hard it is to put yourself out there. This thread will inspire so many men and women!! <3 to you!! :-D Long live the queen of mfp!!!

Skinny people eat less calories over the span of a day/week/month/etc. Its been proven time and time again.

Didn't read replies. You don't need to do cardio 4 times a week unless you're training for a specific event that is cardio centric in nature. Even then 4 times a week might be too much? There is no fat burn zone. Its a myth. It all balances out. If your goal is fat loss, create your deficit with your diet, sprinkle in some…

Anything is good in moderation within the context of a balanced and macro/micronutrient sufficient diet.

In the end, there are really only two body types. trained and untrained. Your physiologically the same as all humans and with enough hard work and dedication, you can have the body you want. Don't get caught up with the minutia of body somatypes. Your body is a piece of clay. Mold it to whatever you want.

I usually have a cap of body fat or I bulk until I can barely fit my clothes anymore. I can gain 15 lbs and still fit my pants, but they are tight.
-
Agreed with SS... You likely didn't gain much if any muscle in such a short period of time due to a lack of excess calories. It takes time, years to gain muscle. A natural woman with a good routine and diet can only gain 1/4 lb a week at most of muscle during an optimal bulk. Its going to take more than one bulk to see…

Yes, I am. If your not losing weight and you don't have some underlying metabolic condition, then the ONLY explanation for a 2 year "plateau" is you are eating too many calories to lose weight.
-
Find me one shred of evidence to back up your claim. Every relevant scientific study ever done proves it right, and you think you are the special snowflake that defies the laws of the universe??? Should read this: http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/fat-loss/you-are-not-different.html

Eat less calories. Buy and use a food scale, weigh everything that you eat. Don't eat it if you can't tell how it was prepared and how to log it.
-
ITs just your body dropping water weight. Sometimes the increased food also means increased electrolyte balance. You didn't magically burn 4 lbs of fat. You already had burned the fat. You simply lost the water weight associated with it. :)

When you are morbidly obese, its easier to lose weight simply because your body uses so many calories just being obese. You add in any exercise program and reduce your calories and you're going to lose weight. IF you aren't losing weight and "trying" to as a morbidly obese person, you are terrible at counting calories or…

My past two real girlfriends were 9 and 10 years younger. They are fun, but immature and don't know what they want.

Strength first... but be careful to not do too much cardio on lifting days. It will kinda negate the benefits. You get some cardio benefits during weight lifting. Avoid deficit spending as much as possible when you weight train. (Meaning, doing cardio on top of weight training while already at a caloric deficit is kinda…

Oh Yoovie, I <3 you ;)

This must be a troll question. Edit: I'm gonna be the hottest damn 40 year old evarrrr.. (in 7 years) ;)
-
You're likely not losing weight because you're not counting your calories right, not because you're eating too many carbs.
-
Just move more and eat less, figure out the rest later.... That's what I did. When you are morbidly obese, you need to not worry about crap that doesn't matter. At this point, losing weight, regardless of how (assuming its sustainable and healthy), is paramount.

Yes, especially when you have significant weight to lose. When you are obese and lift weights, you can both add muscle and lose fat at the same time. At least its easier to do so than when you get relatively lean. Secondly, you lift while dieting to ensure your body is maintaining muscle mass and your body is effectively…

If "God" gave you naturally large thighs, basically, you are predisposed to carrying fat on your legs. Lose the fat, and you will surprise yourself with how small your legs are. Find me a low body fat woman <20% with large defined legs who isn't a advanced weight lifter and I'll shut up. The fact is most women (and men)…
