The reason you lose more weight while dieting and no exercise is that you consume muscle mass. Going the gym and doing resistance training prevents that and muscle is more dense then fat so while losing more fat you wont lose as many pounds as it is being replaced with muscle.

That was just a option i put in so i could manually enter the cals my HRM said. I guess i am eating to little.

never thought of not using diet stuff, guess its not that obvious when its drilled into you to eat those items. Could i bulk them up on training days with protein shakes?

one of my training buddies reconeded the following, which seems a cheaper option. "make your own , 1/2 a bannana , 1/4-1/2 pint of goats milk , 2 raw eggs and a pinch of salt mixed in blender , take after training with an ammino acid tablet (health food store) . that should do ya , the goats milk beads smaller than cows…
