Absolutely!!! "Fat" is not a feeling, and almost always is about something other than my body. I find it helpful too to really think about what is bothering me instead. Thank you for bringing this up.

I say give those guys a dose of feminist perspective! Consider for a moment how important a job it is to raise children. For some reason women have never been compensated for this work, even though it has been critically important to the survival of our species. Why is it then that in our society we believe having a job…

Really dark chocolate - like 70% cocoa+. Lindt Bittersweet dark chocolate works well. It's too rich to eat too much, and I just make myself eat a tiny piece at a time and don't do anything else but think about the flavor while it's melting in my mouth. One of the few treats I can refrain from overindulging on!

Yeah, hiding your smoking is a good sign! I grew really ashamed of my habit before I quit, which was part of my motivation to quit. It was antithetical to everything I stood for health-wise. Tricks I used to replace the hand-to-mouth thing: drinking tea or water was helpful. Stay away from alcohol though - it only makes it…

Yeah, there is so much nonsense in the media about celebrities' bodies...:noway: Thanks for your input! :flowerforyou:

Where are some places to get this done? I am not a member of a gym. Is it an expensive test?

   I'm waiting for the waddle (roll) of fat under my bellybutton to disappear!

Hmm, that sounds really biased toward a certain body type... I'm 5'1", and at my lowest weight of 108, I looked too thin and actually set out to gain weight. But I have a larger bone & muscle structure, so I weigh more than average even when healthy. My friend on the other hand, who's about the same height as me, is…

Thanks for the info and advice, everyone! I have a better idea at least of the lowest I'd want to go... I think the rest is figuring out what feels right for me.

Hi folks, I've never been at the same weight in my adult life for more than a year or two, so I have no idea what I'm supposed to weigh. I've also never been happy with my weight, even when in retrospect I should have been. I know the range as recommended by BMI for my height, but that's about a 30 pound spread! I don't…

I'm sure you didn't intend this, but the joke portrays Asian people as stupid. Why does the guy have to have an accent if it isn't about ethnicity/country of origin? I don't mean for this to sound like an attack on you or to start a controversy. I just feel that we can all benefit from thinking about how jokes we tell can…

I had that problem too of not being able to concentrate on work or whatever else because of thinking about food so bad, even when I wasn't hungry. I went to therapy and learned that whenever I was having cravings that intense, it was because there was something else bothering me that I didn't want to think about. The mind…

Beepower put it quite well. I'd like to add that the reason you will have an easier time losing by eating the right amounts of nutrients is that if you eat the foods in the first example, you'll probably still be hungry after a day of 1500 calories and your body will actually MAKE you eat more by giving you tremendous…

Hmm. I don't know as I don't really have problems with PMS mood swings, but it seems to me that if it were only hormones, why would your irritation with him go as far as to almost break up? It sounds like you are having actual problems with his being out of town, and that maybe your hormone-related mood swings are just…

Hey, thanks for the suggestions, everyone. I'll take a leisurely walk today.

Hi Everyone, If you're sore from a harder-than-usual workout from the day before, do you think it's better to rest the next day and give your muscles a break, or get moving again to work the lactic acid out of your muscles? Thanks!
-
It sounds like what you are worried about is the worrying itself. How long have you had this problem? Are you able to force yourself to eat all of your calories? If you have had a day when you reach your net calories, what happens for you?
-
I agree, I am not worried. I'm just wondering why that number is so low - do you think it's for people with diabetes?

I started tracking sugar as one of my four nutrients, and have been really puzzled by the recommended limits. I just had a perfectly reasonable breakfast of foods that have no added sugar (except maybe the bread, which is not much), and already I am 6 grams over my recommended sugar intake for the whole day. :noway: What…

Wow, you're doing awesome!! Way to go! :drinker: :drinker: :flowerforyou: :drinker: :drinker:

I try to avoid artificial sweeteners, so I've been using plain yogurt and adding fruit and honey. After I got used to the less sweet flavor, I could reduce and eventually eliminate the honey and fruit - mostly eat it plain now cause I'm too "busy" (lazy) to bother mixing it!

Yes, you are most definitely not the only one struggling with this. This is my first time trying to loose weight in a healthy manner, and I find myself reminiscing a lot about unhealthy shortcuts. The other side of my nostalgic memories is the negative effects of an eating disorder. Obsession just leads to more obsessing,…

There is water that comes from a natural spring and is carbonated by the earth with natural minerals. Then there is water that is much cheaper, you buy it in any old grocery or convenience store, it usually comes in plastic bottles or aluminum cans, and it is carbonated by adding carbolic acid. I've heard this second type…

Yum, awesome recipes!! Maybe if I try adding some of that stuff I can reduce my rice cake intake!
-
I use them in place of chips, but I wind up eating 3 or 4 sometimes in a sitting... not sure how guilty to feel! I guess the general consensus is probably less guilty than if they were chips or a pastry!
-
Do you consider rice cakes junk food? It's not like they're bad for you, but it's not like they've got a ton of nutrition, either... I'm on the fence. (In particular, I'm thinking of the Quaker White Cheddar variety - it's in the database, if you need nutrition info.)

1 cup Kashi Honey & Flax cereal 3/4 cup lowfat plain yogurt 1/2 cup fat free plain yogurt (normally put a banana in there as well, but we're fresh out) 1 cup black tea Excellent brain food!!

I think if you feel good with your normal protein intake, that is more important than the site's recommendations. Everyone's nutritional needs are different. Personally, I think the protein setting is generally too low for me when I am active. Someone once told me an active person (and this was a very small woman saying…
