My family had one growing up. She was very anxious and constantly barked at anything and everything that moved. All our friends were scared of her.

I am in a wonderful relationship with a fantastic guy. I moved in with him after 7 months of dating for financial/distance/want to spend more time together & ready for the next step reasons. I was hesitant that it was so soon, but we've now been living together for a year and our relationship just keeps getting better. I…

I eat lowfat plain yogurt - one cup has 120 cals, 2 g fat, and 10 g protein. Mix it in with some high protein cereal like Kashi and you can get about 1/2 your protein for the day just at breakfast. Very filling! Eating meat is really the easiest way to get a ton of protein. Dairy and beans are easy sources too.

Oooh, I love the farmer's market! It doesn't occur to me to go often because parking is such a drag, but I just discovered that now I only live 2 miles away from one, so I can walk there  And yesterday I made a salad using a tomato I got at the grocery store last week and one I just got at the FM ... wow, what a…

Once when I was at the dr.'s office they told me not to worry about their scale, it was badly in need of a re-calibration. So even dr's office scales can sometimes be off, apparently. Also, the number of pounds that you weigh or want to weigh is pretty arbitrary when you consider that what you really want is to like the…

Okay, thanks!

Mmmm, can't wait to try this! One question though - what does "1 each egg whites" mean?

Yes, I too would like to see what your menu is like. Might consider trying this at some point this summer. :flowerforyou:

Speaking from personal experience, therapy has changed my life and I wouldn't be as happy and productive as I am today without it. If I had to do it over again and go into debt from it, I'd still do it. I have a friend who's been paying $400/month for therapy for years and only makes about $35k/year. Not everyone feels…

Another lip-biter here. Side-effect of lip biting = chapstick, another oral addiction. :grumble:

Haha, that's awesome!

Yay for yoga! I love it too, although can't afford classes at the moment. Sometimes I'll follow along with a video podcast, but I'm always afraid I might be doing something wrong without a teacher there to correct me. Yoga is such a great and positive way to get in touch with your body.

Thanks everyone for your replies. It helps just to hear other people understand. I do have a therapist, and have been talking about how I will know where within the healthy range of BMI is right for me. So far it seems pretty subjective ("when my belly fat is gone" - well, how much belly fat is realistic to get rid of?…

Yesterday was the first time I stepped on the scale and wasn’t happy to see that I’ve lost weight. Why? Because I am back at the high end of my pre-recovery eating disorder (bulimia) weight and am still not happy with my body. In fact, I thought I’d actually gained weight cause I wasn’t feeling as good in my body lately. I…

No, do not punish yourself... this is cause for celebration! A great excuse to look at: http://icanhascheezburger.com/about/ Scroll down until you see pictures. Laughter is better than punishment because it works the abs and is more fun. Also, just to add to that, alcohol causes your blood sugar to drop, which tells your…

If you get it looked at after you get new health insurance, be careful about what you say about how long you've had it because if you aren't insured right now, they can call it a "pre-existing condition" and choose not to cover anything you have done for it. You might want to call your insurance company to ask how they…

EEEEEEEEK!!!! :explode: That makes me want to scream, can you tell?? It kind of sounds like that woman was intimidated by your accomplishments and tried to find some way to lord it over you. How small-minded is that for her to downplay your accomplishments by suggesting that finding a man is more important than the great…

Nice work!! Sometimes the best way to deal with a craving is to just indulge it, in the responsible way that you did. I think it's so much more satisfying to have eaten a reasonable amount within my calorie budget than to throw all caution to the wind and just pig out. Hmm, wish I could remember that more often,…

Maybe YOU could start a tennis group near you? Try www.meetup.com, or something like that. :flowerforyou:

Granted, but you're actually stranded there with a bunch of annoying shipmates a la Gilligan's Island. I wish my homework weren't so flipping boring.

For me, it's when I'm supposed to be doing something I don't wanna do. Like right now. Homework, cleaning, yardwork... always, always has been a problem for me. Oh, and then having overeaten. It starts out as grazing, but gets out of hand once I've figured I messed up already.

Oh hon, I'm so sorry for your loss. Ending a relationship is always hard, especially when it's unexpected. The absolute best way to feel better is to take care of yourself. I can pretty much guarantee that you will feel better if you try to eat regular, well-rounded meals, be moderate with the junk food, and get a little…

Hey, I hear ya... it happens to most of us at some time or another. Today I ate a whole pint of gelato :embarassed:  Recently I've been chewing gum when I get the urge to chow mindlessly on junk, which seems to help get me through the cravings. Wish I'd thought of that before the gelato though...

Another option - I'd guess that it wouldn't make much of a difference if you were to eat those extra calories tomorrow instead.

Ugh, I am so with you on this!!

You could check with some of the local counseling offices - there are some that offer services on a sliding fee scale based on your income. :flowerforyou:

I use it almost every day, too... usually for cooking meats or veggies. I usually just use no more than 1/2 Tbsp. for cooking, and it doesn't mess with my calories too much. If you are generally close to your recommended intake for fat each day, then I wouldn't worry about it. Your body needs a certain amount of fat…

I've come to realize that beer is the main reason why I needed to lose weight... Just have to enjoy it less frequently now. Sure wish I could, but I just can't stand light beer! I am a big fan of Summit Extra Pale Ale as it is both yummy and local. Also like Smithwick's Irish Ale and Bell's Two-Hearted Ale. Hmm, guess I'm…

Kelly, is it helping with the f-word?

OMG, Fogo de Chao.... you are so lucky!!! I am in a similar boat tonight as we're going out to celebrate my boyfriend's b-day... and I've already eaten all of my calories for today :noway:  I'm looking at the restaurant menu and the salads aren't sounding celebratory enough, so I may have to just full-out cheat today.…
