I am sending friend requests to y'all! I hope we can keep this discussion going!!

@ldytrvl basically the same here. Keto has worked really well for me, but the last 1.5 years have not gone well, and my weight and BP have crept up! Also late 50's here. I think you're goal is doable - I'll join you! I have to get this weight off...I've never been this concerned about my health and I don't want to get to a…

This is me! I've not started logging yet...just starting back keto. I'll probably incorporate some fasting to boost my results. I would love it if everyone would continue this conversation here??!

I have not used any of these, but Dr. Westman has some products now https://www.adaptyourlife.com/product/adaptmeal-choc-chip-flavor-13-servings/ ETA - seems pricey though

Back to getting serious about getting down to goal for health reasons. I have been as high as 167 about 2 years ago (I am 5'4") but will count today's weight as "starting weight". SW - 147.6 CW - 147.6 GW - 130

This is definitely an area for further investigation when it comes to (at least some) women. I have been interested in the effects of our family's low carb WOE on my teenage daughter. I have chosen for my teens to take a slightly more moderate approach, but I would never venture back to grains, etc. personally. Food for…

Thank you!

Dr. Sarah Hallberg addresses this topic and is currently conducting research on it as well. Here is one of her presentations https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8jUmCe3zDs

Yes, no reason to add starchy veggies! Perhaps adding non-starchy for their many benefits? I'm thinking leptin and other hormone regulation....
-
Wheatlessgirl, I would not worry about increased cortisol unless you have a history with that? If you can increase exercise to 5-6 days, that would probably be optimal...if you are able.
-
Dear Wheatlessgirl, I'm so sorry you have been struggling! You've been so faithful and patient, and always a delight on MFP. This opinion might not be popular here  but I am going to suggest you take a look at the effects of fiber on hormone regulation...?? When I look back to your diary in February, you were…

Oh, wonderful, thank you!!

Fantastic work! Good for you!!

@LittleMamaVas - you pose a legitimate concern. I don't know if there are any long term studies, but the short term ones I've read are promising. That being said, when making the personal decision, so many individual variables (of personal genetics/predisposition to heart disease; one's own lab results, for example) as…

We make our own yogurt and I really want to try coconut! Just haven't gotten around to it. Will let you know if we do! I'm thinking it would be great! The benefit of sticking to yogurt is the probiotics.

I'm thinking pure stevia is better, ie, the drops. "Stevia in the Raw" in the dark green bag, which OP used, has added maltodextrin as its first ingredient. Is this correct? Does anyone know the GI of pure stevia?
-
This is absolutely not the case for m and many others. I need to keep my carbs around 50 or less to manage my blood sugar, even while eating at a deficit. OP, I would recommend getting an inexpensive meter and start watching how different macro levels affect you. This might change as the weight comes down, but it might…

This is the brand we get, too. Full of good stuff:)!

@deoxy4 You are right! Great, healthy source of all the good stuff, and calcium! Even my kids will eat them over salads too, thankfully. @Queenmunchy , that's cute!

Take a look at this group: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/3070-p-c-o-sis There is also a diabetes/insulin resistance group with some good info. Best to you!

I think if you upped protein a bit and ate a bit more it would help? Seems like too much too fast perhaps.
-
KnitOrMiss, this is fantastic! So encouraging.
-
I don't worry about net. I eat 30-50g. I agree that you have nothing to lose by upping to 40g since you are feeling so poorly. And at this point I think you should be careful not to dip below 1200 on any given day. Once you feel well consistently, then that's a different story altogether.
-
Coconuttymummy, Your comment above looks reasonable as far as increasing carbs a tad (?). Also, your diary came through my feed and you were only at 1,000 cals I think? Perhaps increasing calories till you adjust would help? I'm sure someone else has suggested this and maybe that won't work for you? I've personally stopped…

I haven't checked Aldi's yet. I get mine from SAMs, but it's becoming easier to find in health food stores and sections. It is not carb free, but I tolerate small amounts is a morning muffin. Be sure to read up if you try it - it is not equally substitutable for wheat. The pizza crust was excellent! Slightly cakier texture…

This is not true.

@shan11180 - we suspect celiac in one of my children....We have made coconut flour crust pizza that was outstanding! There are a few recipes online.

Hi Nanakins6, Some do fine just losing weight and exercising, but after doing much research I opted for a more aggressive approach and reduced my carbs as well and it has worked for me. My fasting numbers creep up if I don't watch my carbs, even at my lower current weight. Here is a link to the Diabetes, Prediabetes and…

Oh, and I'm average 30g/day

Congrats on 30 pounds Tina4kids!! ( I'm " Dawn5kids", btw :)). I'm another " nothing impressive" loss at 10 lbs since late February ( and 10 more pounds the year before that). But my even bigger success is gaining complete control over my eating! LC has helped me put ME in charge of my eating. I've also lowered my fasting…
