Ha, I don't log my gains partly for this reason! But it helps some people stay accountable so I can see why they do it. To each his own!

Sorry! That's the patten here, unfortunately. Seems quite simple to comprehend to me that you are seeking to eat a more natural diet, and that is a reasonable worthy goal! All best to you.

Yes, we've made a cauliflower crust and loved it! My kids absolutely loved it and now request it. Give it a try!

Welcome! Glad you found us. I was just reading this program over this week and it looks excellent. I think you will find many here who are eating quite similarly, even if they are not actually following it. Keep us posted as you get underway!

Coconutty, To answer your question, I got serious about low carb in February ( had transitioned to Paleo/Primal-ish before that but that wasn't getting my blood sugar where it needed to go). Somewhere between February and April I pushed for keto. I lost 10 more pounds during that time for a total of 20 for the year. My…

This^^ First, congratulations on your success so far! Well done! I suggest you obtain advice from those particularly familiar with insulin resistance and the growing body of research surrounding it. Best to you on your continued journey to health!

You absolutely can alter them to your suggested carb range with great results. I know how steroids can wreak havoc! Yarwell's advice above is great. Best wishes to you!

Coconutty, I'm so glad things turned out well for you!! I have been going through re-adaptation and was doubting myself, too while I was feeling poorly. Today I'm doing much better and over the hump ( added salty homemade bone broth and just gave it more time). Best wishes as you see continued health improvements and…

Hello and welcome, Monklady! Glad you found your way over!

OP- yes I have experienced this and feel confident the weight won't creep back on easily this time. Good for you for finding and succeeding at what works for you.
-
OP - my kids are not technically keto but mostly paleo/primal. Just not as low carb as I am. Some ideas: Ham spread with cream cheese rolled up HB eggs/egg salad Salami Half avocado ( they eat it with a spoon) Olives Sardines Chicken legs Nom Nom Paleo did a great series on Paleo lunch box foods for kids that I think would…

I don't get my meat there but I do get grassfed cheese and butter at a fabulous price as compared to the grocery store (Kerrygold), wild salmon (frozen), smoked salmon, organic greens and salads and lots of fresh veggies (cauliflower, string beans and fresh Brussels sprouts), and lots of avocados. We also get olive and…

I've had it since the 90's and have gone back to it over and over again and went on to purchase her Slim Series dvd's which are intended as a continuation after you complete Slim in Six. It is an excellent and sensible program for getting into shape (with minimal injury risk). You will be sore in the beginning, but stick…

Thanks!

Interesting. I'm aware of some of the benefits of resistant starch but had not heard about the calories (?).
-
It also requires more egg. It might give specifics on the back of your package. I use recioes specifically for coconut flour and it's gone well.
-
Got it thanks!!!

Oh do try the pizza casserole! I did it for my family and they LOVED it! Faster and easier than the pizza crust but same taste.
-
These look great! We just had cauli rice for dinner. I'm definitely doing the grilled cheese for the kids!

Good thread, and OP thank you for sharing your experience. We have been brainwashed in many areas of nutrition. I have to wonder, and will never know, whether wheat contributed to my son's developing Crohn's :-(....No one in the family touches it now! AND, some troubling GI issues in my youngest, as well as eczema in two…

My son has Crohn's and I've spent the last two years researching, learning and experimenting on what works for him. As you know, it is highly individual. Stress management, exercise (reasonable for your condition), and finding what dietary factors play a role for you will be ongoing. I highly recommend Sarah Ballantyne's…

After years of high carb, low fat, and having the doctor finally tell me my sugar was going high due to tiring out my pancreas, I've made the switch for my whole family and we couldn't be happier or healthier! Lots of low carb veggies, healthy fats, and no cravings - they've disappeared! Check out paleomom and the Low Carb…

These two are a great combination! There is a workout schedule you can find online combining those two plus the shred (called the "slim down"). I think alternating these two is also just great. A rest day is a good idea for avoiding injury. Hope you have great success!

This is wonderful! Congratulations to happy, healthy you! Thank you for sharing your encouraging success!!

If you are shooting for high quality in your coconut oil, Tropical Traditions has some interesting info on tests done on their oil. They have frequent very good sales. Not sure how much difference it makes but we got a gallon container. I, like you, am finding what is comfortable and helpful for me. I count calories and am…

Sodium nitrite is likely the biggest problem with processed meats. Most processed meats can be purchased without it and other additives, as well as uncured. Not the best source, but this is one summary on the issue. http://www.naturalnews.com/022288_sodium_nitrite_processed_meat.html I get uncured bacon with no additives ,…

I look forward to reading wabmester's links! So much to learn! Might I say though, Dan, that your attitude of "possibly needing to adjust a few things" is a good one! I can't see your diary, but it seems to me that keto and weight loss alone might not be enough for optimal fat profile/health. I'm thinking it is so easy to…
-
Yes that's what it tells me. Then it won't post it on your wall for friends to see you " completed your diary for the day".

I too am very interested and same here - Dr. Fung has really influenced my thoughts. I know this is your thread, Dan, but can I say I'd love to hear people's experience with achieving blood sugar control (if blood sugar was an issue) through their fasting experience as part of their results?!
