The International...fell asleep within the first 10 minutes...woke up once during a shooting scene...then back to sleep until credits. SOOOOOO dull!!!

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly puts me to sleep when i'm having insomnia attacks. depending on how severe, i will be asleep before the Yankees capture Tuco and Blondie...OR just before the bridge is blown up. haven't seen the graveyard scene in almost 10 years!

i generally use tvp or chia to sub for rice. LOVE stuffed peppers! :D

they have an off flavor, but if you are willing to wait, sauce and broth saturate them really well. i put mine in soups to give it more volume, and for the noodle texture. if you just dump sauce on them, it will taste funny. if you let it sit in the sauce for several minutes before eating (or in my case, in my lunch cooler…

aren't we also the only mammals that don't drink water we've deposited our bodily waste in? i haven't ever seen a dog or cat get in a tiff because we didn't flush the toilet well enough after a dookie before they start lapping it up.

asker should pay. if i asked some gent' to go to dinner, i shouldn't expect him to whip out his wallet. "hey, do you want to buy me food?" really? however, if the lady in question offers to get her own tab, you CAN step in and not let her pay. i feel uncomfortable letting my friends (male or female) pay for me, so i try to…

Slow going, but I'm getting there!

not big on the triple d. i always loved chopped. ^_^

get ahold of a tape measure...get your exact sizes down and set it aside. if you check that once every month or so, you'll be able to see those changes better. :) i had a weight plateau for about a month, but i was losing inches. keep at it! :)

White Mountain Bulgarian yogurt...mmmmm...so tangy and thick!

i had a blood clot get stuck in my ticker (this determined by heavy bruising). i didn't have diabetes, high bp, high cholesterol, heart disease, or anything else to trigger a heart attack. i was told to lose weight. now, i can never go back. ^_^

play with fresh herbs! cilantro, basil, even lavender can be your friends. you'll be surprised what a fresh chopped bunch of green can do to an entire meal.
-
i drink almond milk for the carb value. it does have a different flavor, so it may take getting used to.

idk about it being "junky," but i try to throw in something special every day. sometimes it is chocolate, sometimes it's protein-loaded cake-pops. i totally agree, though. going on a binge day is more damaging than helpful.
-
protein shake to get me started, and after my workout, i have a homemade protein bar. sometimes i'll slather some peanut butter on it. depends on how my morning is going. ^_^

there are several times someone might need to say no for their own safety! what happens if you have a food allergy? my "excuse" to offers of treats narrows down to this... "it looks very good, and i appreciate the offer. i don't need any, so you go ahead and enjoy it." at this point, you have not been offensive, and unless…

Sunday is usually my early day at work, so I don't get gym time. Maybe go on a walk between services, or shoot some hoops. I usually do a couple laps around my office (i don't log it because i'm not timing myself. i just want to move around a bit!) or squeeze in some sit-ups before I start my day. You don't NEED a gym to…

@Cr01502 Pfffff...at least you know she went with a veggie induced smile. ;)

pure love was worth the hardship

spent a few of my teen years in China...my family was served these FANTASTIC dumplings...we practically licked the plate clean. one of the hosts happened to comment loudly after we had finished that "dog really is delicious, isn't it?" (it was, but if i had a choice, i would not eat it again.) we also had a mishap where my…

love yolks...have you tried making coconut pecan frosting for a German chocolate cake without yolks?!? not possible! it's all about the custard effect... eggs are awesome. so versitile...omlettes, crepes, casserole, salad toppers, meatloaf binders...(drool)

one thing that makes meal planning easier for me is to not only make whatever it is i have planned for dinner, but i also try to make an extra casserole, soup, or whatever at the same time. one is for dinner, one goes into containers in the freezer. then, you can have (maybe) leftovers for lunch the next few days, and…

A calorie is a calorie...our bodies just process them differently. I made my decision to go low carb after talking with Dr. Robert Su on carbohydrates and their effects. I also spent years struggling to lose weight without a plan. Low carb works for me better than anything else has. I don't think carbs are "evil." I just…

Dear 16 year old me, Please listen to your parents. You think that "getting back at them" is worth losing everything. It's not. So much pain and loss when you hit 18 because of it. They love you! Also, stop hating China. When you get back, it's the only thing you will talk about. You are going to miss everything sooooo…

i'm so sorry that you had to go through this. your family is supposed to be your support system, and they have broken that. i do agree that distance would be safer and healthier for you emotionally, as well as seeking counseling advice to talk out your feelings. however, i also think you should at least let your feelings…

this is such a difficult struggle, and you are so much stronger for working to overcome it. kudos to you! aside from finding the root of what is causing the negative emotions (sadness, hurt, anxiety), is there anything else that picks you up? a passion? are you artistic? do you love to read? do you get overwhelming joy…

Ahahahahahahahahahahaha! Indeed! (p.s. and i've still got lots of flab on me! i'm down!)

gets on my nerves too. that's why i generally ignore the "i want someone to tell me anorexia is ok" posts.
