  • Nice! Thanks for the advice; psyched for your Round 2 . I learned about the importance of planning today....my daughter and I had two hard cleaning jobs, and I had a light breakfast. Drank plenty of water but skipped lunch because we were behind schedule. Kids wanted fast food on the way home (they don't get it very often)…
  • IMHO, 1200 seems like too few calories to sustain over long-term weight loss.
  • I got a free pedometer from my health insurance; some get them from their union. I used the pedometer and saved up so I could get a FitBit Charge HR as a present to myself when I lost my first 30 pounds. Best $130 I ever spent. Had the display go haywire on it, called them, received a brand new replacement 3 days later.…
  • I suggest using whole, nutrient dense food in reasonable portions; better for long-term success because you will be learning how to obey hunger/satiety signals. It is also much more bang for your buck. Find someone on MFP whose weight lose journey you admire, send a friend request, and view a few days of their diary.…
  • PS - I actually embrace the fact that it's hard to get enough protein from food. It forces me to really scrutinize the nutrient profile of the food I eat.
  • Hope it works for you. However, I have found my body does best on a variety of real whole foods and protein from both plant, animals, fish and yogurt. When I drink my nutrition, my body doesn't get the same satiety signals. I keep nuts and a hard-boiled egg available. Finally, those powders can be more expensive per gram…
  • What they said
  • The struggle is real, especially if you are older than 40. My awesome doctor suggested two things: 1) Belly weight suggests an excess of cortisol (stress hormone). She helped me work on reducing stress and maki g sure to get at least 7.5 hours of sleep per night. So far, the most helpful advice I've had. Second, she…
  • Wow! That's awesome you have mobility back! Yes, your back pain will get better. I started at 299 pounds, and it took losing only 30 pounds to see a reversal of several issues: joint pain, inflexibility, indigestion, poor posture. There is already lots of great advice here. I'll second the suggestion to take small changes…
  • Open to new MFP friends! 55 years old; started at 5'3", 299 pounds in August 2012; down to 250 by August 2015. Original goal 149. Stubborn plateau/discouragement/bad habits creeping in since then. Recommitting- good first day 0 of Whole30 in the books. Recently learned I've shrunk to 5'1"; new goal of 130 pounds for BMI of…
  • Me too! Started August 2012 at 299 pounds; current weight 250; slow but steady progress for 3 years but stubborn plateau since September 2015; then discouragement and creeping back toward poor habits. Don't always lose when I am very consistent with weighing/measuring food and logging but never lose if I don't. Also use…
  • Great question! My daughter eats fairly healthy, and has already adapted well to my gluten-free life. Still, if she doesn't want to join, I will ask if she's willing to have the only non-compliant foods in the house be ones I don't love. I have a 5-year old, too, so will have to handle temptation anyway. And I teach…
  • Excellent work!
  • Wow! Great progress! I too am not focusing on the scale - just concentrating on developing healthy habits...the scale will take care of itself. Have a great Wednesday, all!
  • Great job, Diantha! I think you'll find the right mix of activity for you. Way to stick with it!
  • And I've lost 3 pounds/13 days despite a few days of questionable nutrition.
  • Hi! Happy Saturday! I hope everyone is doing great. Here's my progress report after 13 days of the Spring Fling, with 79 days left: Walk/jog steps: Goal 780,000 - 130,919 so far (average 10, 070 per day). 649, 081 left in 79 days, (average 8,219). ON TRACK. Time outside:At least ten minutes per day all 13 days. ONTRACK.…
  • Way to go! Creative way to get it done!
  • Newbie2143, great job on swim and staying under despite the snacking. That's key, since so often people throw in the towel and go overboard the rest of the day. I like that you recognize 1) that a busy scheule and variat up n from routine are potential obstacles to exercise and eating nutritiously, and 2), that planning is…
  • Mom2eve, glad you are feeling better. Great job making the best choices under the circumstances.
  • Hope everybody's doing okay. I started to get off track with nutrition today, but got it together and finished the day under and my macros aren't bad. Yeah, me! That's huge progress....even a few months ago, if I ate anything off-plan, I would go off the rails for at least the rest of the day, if not several days.
  • PS: I still logged every bite!
  • Okay, I need to own up to poor choices in both exercise and nutrition today. My home page post has details, including what I learned. Gotta just get back up and move on, though. I was giving myself a big lecture about starting this thread and then being a poor example. Then I reminded myself we're all big and maybe someone…
  • So I've tried a few times to do personal replies to reillysloss, slinkroum82o and bryo4, but my app is being weird. Welcome, Reillysloss, great goals, let the grroup know how we can help you. Slinkroum829, you have great momentum built up - wtg! Bryo4, it's fun to get away but routine is really comforting. You got this!
  • Hi DS1415, welcome! I am so sorry you are struggling with your health. It's exciting that you are taking steps to care for yourself. You are welcome to send me a friend request on MFP. Your goals are ambitious but you can do it. Let us know if there is any way we can help. I'm especially interested in your "learn healthy…
  • Great work, everyone! Crushing goals. I had a good day...13,523 steps, good nutrition, good attitude. I am doing better at spacing out my calories and getting enough fiber, but need to work toward less fat and slightly more protein. Although I gotta say, since I've been allowing myself a little more fat, I am more…
  • It works! No judging here! It's so hard to log the less-than-healthy choices, but I find it very important. You got this! -Bonnie
  • Welcome, Ellen! These look like ambitious but manageable goals. I think you are wise to note that it's not so much taking huge drastic steps, but being consistent in the changes you are making. Let us know how we can help! - Bonnie
  • Well-thought out goals! We are here to support and encourage. Let us know about both victories and challenging times. - Bonnie
