My insulin is fine and we check it often because diabetes runs in the family! I am taking metformin though, have been for some time for the PCOS. I'm not sure how it helps me exactly... the only thing I notice is that my nails grow stronger and longer. So while my insulin levels are fine perhaps there is something going on…

I just had a thought... maybe because I lost almost 15 lbs in a month, and fat releases estrogen... maybe this time around it's because things are estrogen dominant? It is clottier than usual. TMI I know, but is there really TMI in a group about PCOS? Ha.

18. Do not for the love of all that is good and holy, lose any of my multiple sets of tweezers. I need a tweezer at least 5x a day. Because I am hairy. (LOL). I realize that doesn't apply to every cyster, but to those of us who experience hirsutism... bless.

Stats? I'm almost 27 (on the 14th!), married since 2010, and I have a 19 month old. He's the light of my life. My first major goal is losing 73 more lbs (from today) but I know I'll want to lose more from there. What do you do for a living? I'm mostly a SAHM, but I work PT from home in the evenings - M-R. I work for a…

This just highlights how much PCOS is a huge PITA. :|

Thankfully it was just a couple of days! My poor husband. Haha.

I'm adding you ladies just FYI! :D

Yay another Buffalonian!

Any anti-androgen is bad to take if pregnant. It's my understanding that the effects of spiro don't go away very quickly once you stop taking them so it could interfere. I took licorice root until the day I got my BFP. I would have stopped spiro for awhile if I'd been on it though.

Hi there! Welcome! So sorry to hear about you mc :( It took me nearly 2 years to get pregnant, so I can relate to that part of your journey. Feel free to add me! I'm looking to lose weight (also after gaining weight rapidly in a short time) and get healthy for my 1.5 year old and so that getting pregnant again in the…

Spiro definitely helped me with my acne and hair growth! But, do not take if TTC! :)

It's terrible. The only time I ever saw cysts on my oves (haha I started abbreviating back in college since me and my best friend both had lady issues) was when I was preggers, which from what I read is normal even in non-PCOS gals. Evidence of one that had recently burst, too. Haven't had a pelvic u/s recently - but my OB…

Thank you both for helping to normalize "extended" breast feeding - though to me it's normal and it's definitely the way nature intended it. Super thankful we have other options because I know it's not always possible! It is a personal choice but one I don't regret. Things will be much easier after these subzero…

You don't have to tell me! My husband doesn't believe I have PCOS because I don't have cysts - at least not so far during ultrasounds - and refuses to believe even after my old OB explained some of what you said to him. Sigh. Men.

Yes I agree that if you have problems with insulin that's the way to go. My insulin levels were fine - I haven't been shown to have IR or the classic string of pearls cystic ovaries... I just fall under the umbrella term of PCOS until they come up with more specifics. It's my understanding that the particulars still are…

I'm not sure why I need to defend myself to you? Maybe pick up a copy of La Leche League's "The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding" - you might find it enlightening.
-
Thanks! I suppose I do this already, but less structured. I could definitely incorporate this into sets and whatnot. Using him like a kettlebell would be hilarious, I think he'd love that. If I got up before my son I'd be getting up at like 4am hahaha I'd be no good to anyone!

So I'm not supposed to nurse my son because I want to exercise? Should I have not nursed him at all because it was too taxing, and my exercise should come before his needs? It's not really a contradiction - it's a reason for being tired. I was looking for other women who had been in a similar situation who might have had…
-
What is that supposed to mean? If you're implying that I'm tired because he still nurses, yeah you're probably right. If you're implying that it's a problem that he's 19 months old and still nurses, I think you're pretty ignorant on the subject.
-
Thanks all, I don't know when I asked for advice on how to get my son to sleep more, what I decide to do regarding that is up to me and my husband and what we think is best for our son. He does sleep with me, he doesn't wake up as often as he did before and things are getting better. He's a perfectly happy and healthy baby…

Wow zipa, are you an expert on breast feeding? I didn't ask for your opinion on that, I asked for your opinion on some quick workouts etc on short time and limited opportunities.

I have a problem with extra hair. I grow two patches on my neck that I have to shave every day, and I'm prickly by the end of the night. When I was taking licorice root the hair growth slowed way way down. I'm hoping to eventually get laser hair removal once I'm done having kids and my hormones are under control. That's…

Thanks for the responses, ladies!! I will check out more of the threads, I see a lot of it has to do with eating LCHF but I rather enjoy my "everything in moderation" method - it's how I lost weight before - so I'll stick with that for now. I'm looking forward to being able to take my herbal supplements again but…

He would scream if I tried to keep him in the stroller for sure. But maybe if he fell asleep in the stroller I could do that. I'm not sure if that's allowed though; I would have to ask the building manager. That's a good idea! I won't do sleep training, but thanks for the advice. :)
-
Thanks ladies! I don't agree with sleep training personally which is why I never did it. My son still nurses, so I'm one of those semi crunchy people ;) to each her own though, really. No judgment from me. I had iron and thyroid levels checked recently as well as A1C. Everything looked great. It's just exhaustion from…

I'm from the Buffalo, NY area but currently living near Albany, NY!

That's so great that your family is supportive - that's very important! My husband has weight issues too (we are actually the same weight right now haha) and so I'm trying to prepare healthier meals, but he isn't interested in being super proactive himself. He loves that I'm making healthier items but he is pursuing an…

For sure!! Even my husband can be nasty about it when we are fighting because he honestly doesn't understand that it's not about being "lazy." Certainly there are times when I should be eating better and moving more, but it is definitely a unique frustration when you are doing everything right and not losing - or worse -…

My son is 19 months and still not a good sleeper! ;) I stay up until midnight because now I have a PT job in the evenings and it's the only time I get to see my husband. I'm averaging 5.5-6 hrs of interrupted sleep a night, sigh, but I am definitely going to try and start doing some workouts for part of his nap time at…

Vitex, licorice root (for lowering testosterone levels) & metformin helped me to regulate my cycles, lose 20 lbs and get pregnant after almost 2 years of battling to get my cycles regulated. I had been on metformin alone for awhile with no change. I "tested" my herbal supplements by going without for 1 month and I didn't…
