I was running over the summer and injured my IT band. Bought new running shoes....didn't help. Switched to jumping rope and dropped 2 lbs. :#

I wear a heart monitor occasionally to see where I am at. I usually burn more lifting than with the small amount of cardio that I do.

Elliptical = low impact to knees. Challenge yourself though.

Look into a Ketogenic diet. It basically cures Diabetes Type II and/or prevents it from progressing.

You do what is right for you and don't feel pressured to change it just because someone doesn't agree with your program. Us short women about to hit menopause don't need as many calories. As long as you eat well, have energy and are exercising to prevent chronic health issues you are good to go.

Intermittent fasting during the day, Keto at night and low carb on the weeks with heavy weight training 4-5 times a week. That is what works for me.
-
I am Ketogenic so I try to keep my net carbs less than 30. Keeps my appetite in check and helps me build awesome muscles.

Just to show you how muscle changes your body composition....I currently average 147-150 lbs and I am a size 4-5. I am 5'2". When I was 135 I was a size 0-2.

I don't log on weekends or vacations. And yes I plan to log for the rest of my life. I have been 250 lbs and never want to go there again.

I design my own circuits. Was a hard core lifter for last 3 years and now incorporating more crossfit into my sessions. Diary is open. Workouts are in my food notes.
-
Why don't you buy a heart monitor and try both ways and see which one burns more calories.

I suggest you do some research on the Ketogenic lifestyle before deciding if your friend is right or wrong. Reddit.com is a good place to start and has some great before and afters.

At 100 pounds, you need to be gaining muscle to change your body composition and HIIT is not going to do it. You need to be lifting heavy and eating to supporting your gains. Sometimes you have to gain a little to lose a little. I am only 5'2" and I am 148 lbs. If I was 100 pounds, I would have no muscle and look sickly.…

Squats, squats and more squats!

Metformin is not formally approved for use in prediabetes, and any use to treat prediabetes is considered off-label by providers. If you are Insulin Resistant....it is not too late to change your lifestyle habits before your pancreas stops producing the insulin needed to deal with the added sugar in your blood stream (type…

That's me to a T. It took me 3 years to lose 116 lbs and now I need to gain weight in order to gain muscle :s . It totally messes with your head. I am fighting it tooth and nail. Also there are so many haters out there telling me to "be careful" because I will gain it all back. Can't get them out of my head!

You need protein to heal properly and spare your muscle so aim for foods high in protein. Chicken soup without noodles would be my choice.
-
Quest protein chips....cheddar and sour cream flavor.
-
Hammer makes a good vegan protein bar.

Omg!!!! That chit is nasty. I have tried several and they are ALL nasty!

Obviously I love hiking. I try to challenge myself with steep hills and climbing to get the extra calorie burn.

I love my home gym. I am disciplined enough to get my workouts in everyday and I don't have to get out in the cold or snow. I don't have to share equipment with some sweaty, stinky guy with obnoxious protein farts. I workout in my underwear and don't wear shoes. No monthly fees or memberships. No guys balking at you or…

Grow up!

I am in the exact same situation.....only I am on the 4th floor and my neighbor has not complained yet. I try to use the Beach Body jump mat. I am doing Combat, P90X3, which has some jumping in it and Body Beast. I looked at all of the P90X3 dvd's and made note of which ones have jumping and I am not doing them. Have you…

Do your presses on an aerobic step. Just add on a few risers.
-
I do a hybrid of Body Beast and Combat.

^^^^^ This and stay away from the machines. Free weights are your friend! Sumo's, deadlifts, squats, bench press, shoulder presses, arnold presses, walking lunges, Bulgarian split squats, hip thrusts.....the list goes on.

Look up Fit Trading on Face Book. You can trade your Turbo Fire for something that will challenge you.

Love me some oopsie bread.

Truthfully, if you are overweight and not losing.....I wouldn't eat any of that. Even if it was free and I ran everyday. All those carbs at once are not good for you. Just driving up your sugar and making your pancreas work harder. Most overweight people are insulin resistant and need to be on a high protein diet.
