Similar process here but I use whole grain sandwich thins and a piece of canadian bacon and american cheese. 3 egg whites. Comes in at about 200 calories. Add one or more yolks if you like and still have a manageable calorie count. Also it travels well. I take the cooked eggs and other ingredients to work. Egg w/bacon goes…

Try Bob's Red Mill 5 grain. Like Oatmeal only firmer and much more taste. I add yogurt and some fruit.

I walk or ride my bike every lunch for about 40 - 50 minutes. It gives me some calories to play with but mostly it helps my state of mind. Fresh air and exercise are important ingredients to a healthy lifestyle.

lol! I just ate 1/2 cup of cashews and recorded 320 calories. As I logged on to MFP I was thinking, "Damn! Those cashews are EVIL!" and then I saw this thread!

I found that once I had one drink I always wanted more. My best intentions to moderate were pushed aside in favor of "just one more". I finally realized that if one always (or almost always, at least) turned into more than I intended to drink then I should not have that first drink. So I don't. I found that once I had one…

Too many books. Yes, that is the problem and having an eReader seems to exacerbate it. By the time I've finished reading one book I've forgotten what I was going to read next and my eReader has hundreds of unread books just waiting for the attention they deserve. Where to start? Currently reading: Kraken by China Mieville…

I love my PG Tips and Tetley's!

Touring book; Miles from Nowhere. An outstanding book about a couple who bicycle around the world. I read the book and decided to do the same thing. If he is interested in touring this is a great book. My experiences closing match theirs though I opted not to do norther Africa after reading the book.

Here's some ideas based on what you mentioned you've read: Christopher Moore - "Lamb", and "A Dirtly Job" because you liked Douglas Adams. Smart, irreverent, laugh out loud humor. Patricia Cornwell - "Postmortem". The first novel featuring medical examiner Kay Scarpetta. Michael Connelly - "The Black Echo". The first novel…

I use runtastic which links directly with MFP. I'm not a racer and don't need a lot of bells and whistles but runtastic does everything I need it to do. They have a free version which meets all of my needs.

One of my favorite all time books. I laughed out loud many times! I've also read "A Dirty Job" by Christopher Moore and loved it as well.

Night is an incredible book! One of my favorite quotes is from Night, "“He explained to me, with great emphasis, that every question possessed a power that was lost in the answer… Man comes closer to God through the questions he asks Him, he liked to say.” Hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

Looks good! I just downloaded it. Thanks for the suggestion!

Hit some thorns once that hid in my tire. Kept fixing flat after flat (I was touring and away from home). Finally got to a town, ordered a new tire and several tubes and waited several days for them to arrive. Critical to clear the cause if you can.

I've got about 20 to go as well. They are much more resilient than the first 40+!! but I'm sticking with it. This is a lifetime not a race to some imaginary finish line.

Haven't had to perform a roadside patch in years. I carry an extra tube and simply replace the tube. I fix the old tube at my leisure in the comfort of my shop. I've used both glue and scabs. Haven't had a problem with either. More comfortable with glue just because, after 50 years, I'm pretty comfortable with it (and I…

Excellent point about cadence. Good luck!!

Saddle height and position relative to your bottom bracket and headset can affect your knees. I would recommend going to a good bike shop and getting fitted. It is normal for your muscles to ache as they are exercised but if you feel it inside your knee you might check out your fit.

To paraphrase a famous quote from Dr. Suess, "Eat what you want and log what you eat because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.” I keep my log open. Who knows, someone might get something out of it. My MFP friends help me with encouragement and suggestions. Even though it is open, no one other…

This is on my list. Glad you are enjoying it. I look forward to getting started in about a week.

Bulk it up with some extra egg whites. I use 1 whole egg and 2 egg whites with 2.5oz chicken sausage, peppers, onions, low fat Feta and whatever else I can find in the refer. I sometimes use 1/2 a tortilla but I find the extra calories give me little food value so I'm trying to come up with a tortilla alternative. Pita…

Martian Time Slip by Philip K. ****. My son is reading it in a lit class so I told him I would read along. Just finished a light weight detective story featuring Elvis Cole by Robert Crais. Can't remember the name of the book. Kinda like a Ludlum: the plots and characters are all pretty much interchangeable but a fun read…

I bake mine in an aluminum foil pouch with a bit of rice vinegar or lemon juice, diced tomato, chopped onion, garlic and green and red peppers. Simple and tasty

Great ideas! Thank you everyone. I've hit a plateau for 6 weeks after a very regular loss of over 40lbs over a little over 4 months. I got frustrated and decided to go to a maintenance level for a week or 10 days. That was a few days ago. I see in this thread that others recommend that so now I'm hopeful!

This is exactly my problem. I do find that hot tea really helps. Being from english stock we drink PG Tips with a bit of fat free 1/2 and 1/2 and a 0 cal sweetener, My impulse control is shot though. I find if I am out at night, away from home, I can generally make it through. If I'm at home caring for my 89 yo mother I…

Oh ya! I haven't read that for a long time! That one deserves another reading! I read it when if first came out. My, I've changed since then! It will seem like a new book, I'm sure.
