  • How about some motivation and tough love? Your post is full of excuses. Let's count them: 1: Your husband woudln't let you get up early to work out. 2. You have a concert tonight. 3. You didn't pack lunch, so you're gonna have to eat something greasy. 4. You're in heels. 5. You feel blah, so you don't want to do it. So,…
  • I'd love a better "find members" function. Maybe the ability to narrow it down to a 5 mile radius? Or to search by keyword (i.e. find others who identify as a certain religion or sexuality)
  • My problem is the absolute ban on "sexuality" posts, but what that really means is *sexual orientation*. You've compared it to religion, etc and said there are no posts allowed about religion or politics, etc. BUT, it's different. it isn't a topic ABOUT being gay. People just want to post to find other LGBT people to…
  • Yep, and given that they are nicknamed "Whole Paycheck" any little bit off helps :) $10 for $20 of Whole Foods groceries: https://livingsocial.com/deals/123805?ref=conf-jp&rpi=27358273
  • The ONE d-bag who always has to run in the opposite direction from everyone else on the track...which then requires us to dodge him. GRRR.
  • Welcome to all the new people!!! I didn't really meet all of my goals in August..or, any of them :) I just plateau for months at a time, it's how my body works. I'm actually taking a little time off from intense workouts, eating more, etc and then hoping switching back to hard core will jolt some weight off of me. That's…
  • Wow, Dawnie, you're looking really fine! It's amazing to see the progress! I think it inspires everyone, myself included. A body CAN change! Can't wait to see more updates!
  • Common sense rules :)
  • You should ask your doctor and pharmacist. Generally, for most people, generic and brand name drugs will not matter. But, there ARE some differences...different dyes, fillers, etc used in generics. For example, I know someone on an anti-seizure medication and she was fine on generics. But then the pharmacy gave her the…
  • It's the bigger pie - choose thin crust and you save calories. I get the Tostada on thin crust and can eat half the pie for like 550 :)
  • That made me giggle :)
  • Wait, ****ens is a dirty word???
  • Honestly, I used to feel the SAME way as you. Then one time, I just forced myself to go to this ridiculously hot yoga class (never having even taken yoga before!) It was crazy hard and every single person there was a bean pole and there I was - HUGE in comparison. But, I did it. And no one even noticed! Now I go to various…
  • Holden Caulfield....while this protagonist thinks the phonies in life are the antagonists...we all know that Holden is his own antagonist.
  • Even the whole grain version of those foods aren't healthy, though, because they are loaded with sodium, preservatives, etc. And, even though it seems cheap, it's generally more expensive to buy boxed foods. What about making crock-pot meals? A lot of frozen veggies or beans and/or a meat and seasonings can make food for a…
  • Wow - you look great! Your body has really toned up!
  • I'm so the opposite. I'll wear a camelbak on hot days and drink the whole thing! However, I'm not a huge fan of drinking water in the early morning on an empty stomach. Could that be it? Do you have the same issue if you jog in the afternoon/evening after you've eaten?
  • Yeah, maybe I need to just repeat Week 3 over and over and over again. I guess I stopped doing C25k and started doing walking and other exercises (step aerobics, etc) because it didn't really feel like a challenge in terms of total time of the daily program, but the actual intervals were too hard. No, seriously, I'm slow.…
  • Also, I'll take any excuse to have a bowl of cereal...so, maybe I'll try this :)
  • I should try that. Once I did have pasta for dinner and then went out and I did feel a little more energetic. And tonight I did have some sugar and some potatoes before I worked out...but, still blahhh.
  • That's my strategy now. I try to walk 4 miles a day almost every day and I find areas in my neighborhood with steep hills, etc so that I can build leg muscles, get my heart rate up, etc. I also wonder if maybe I'm just not cut out for endurance? or maybe it'll just take longer. I'm not one of those people who "used to be…
  • I generally run in the evenings, so it's cooled down (though, I find that I have my best exercises/runs when it's really really hot out, strangely). I started switching things up so that I have consumed all my daily calories plus an extra 100-200 before I exercise, so that I have enough fuel. I do drink plenty of water and…
  • What I did, honestly, was not have any sweets the first 60 days or so. Sugar has always been my addiction, so I just cut it out completely. All I'd allow myself was ONE square of dark chocolate (60% cocoa or greater) here and there. Once I got past those first couple of months, my cravings for sweets went way, way down. No…
  • Sometimes after just a *single* day of eating some junky food and drinking too much alcohol, the scale will be up 3-4 pounds the next day. It generally takes about a week of time for it to even back out. Drink a lot of water and it'll help and maybe try to have a lower carb week?
  • My goals? Eh. I wanted to lose 7-8 pounds in August...I've lost 1 (and, I keep fluctuating it back on and off). So,that likely won't happen. My other goal was to try to walk 60 miles this month, which is 15 miles a week. I can still pull that one off, but I need to sit out a couple of days at least because of a hip injury.…
  • Exactly. Folks should refrain from being a Judy Judgment because you really don't know that person's condition, why they are at the gym, what their health restrictions are, etc. They're a paying member and it probably took courage to go.
  • Yes, you're being harsh. First, why are you even paying attention to her? I have to say, I always avoided the gym for years b/c of exactly what has happened here. Fear that some thinner person would be monitoring me and then talking about me behind my back, judging, posting about it on facebook, etc. And everyone always…
  • Are you using a Heart Rate Monitor to make sure that calorie count is right? Maybe try to eat a little more of your calories back, pre-workout. You'll have more energy for the workout and maybe your body just needs mroe fuel?
