  • Welcome! My first day was about 225 days and 52 pounds ago. You can do it! :)
  • Same here. I mean, I still am on Facebook a lot...but, I check MFP just as much b/c it really helps me!
  • Sometimes I eat my calories back and sometimes I dont. Usually I find a happy medium where I have a post-exercise snack that replenishes me and consumes some of them back. But, the last 14 days I've been way too strenuous - exercising most days and not eating my calories back. Well, the body can't live on 1300 calories if…
  • Good idea- I didn't think about getting them adjusted. Duh! I'm sure that they need it, since I've lost some weight in my face! if that doesn't work, I'll see about the strap. I am new to all of these exercise classes, yoga, etc so I need my glasses so I can see what the heck I'm supposed to be doing next, LOL.
  • Thanks everyone. I can't wait to see what the next 30-40 pounds looks like!
  • To weigh in, go to the home page. Look at the top menu and there is a "check in" button. You can log your weight there. Are you eating enough? Too little? It's hard for us to offer advice without knowing your daily caloric intake, what types of food you are eating, how much you've lost, how long you've been doing this, etc.
  • Lookin' good!! CONGRATS!
  • Try www.skinnytaste.com. Almost all of her recipes are SUPER EASY to make - many containing only a few ingredients. I've made tons of stuff from there and it always tastes super gourmet!!
  • I agree that veggies on the grill adds a whole new flavor and they are fabulous!! But, in general, just varying the method of cooking helps a lot. For example, broccoli can be eaten raw...you could saute' it in a little olive oil and garlic...you could steam it...you could grill it... you could sautee it and then sprinkle…
  • That's great!! And, yep, we used to always just split those pre-packaged meals, pizzas, etc in two too - even though they were meant to serve 4-5-6 people! My guess is that a LOT of couples or families do that, thus they are eating way more than they need.
  • I had a plateau for a LONG time (weeks!) but I just didn't give up. Just kept at it. Finally, I took a week where I ate more calories and then the next week I did a lot of long walks, every single solitary day. It busted the plateau and 5 pounds came off. I think you sometimes have to keep your metabolism "guessing."
  • The very first thing I realized was how many calories Iw as consuming in my morning coffee! I would put like 5 packs of sugar in, plus 1/4 a cup of half and half. OMG! Slowly I weaned myself off...now I use 1 pack of splenda and 2-3 ounces of milk. My "splurge" is a latte @100 cals.
  • I got to week 4 and it was too hard. But yet, at the same time, I felt like C25K wasn't reallly pushing me enough. Strange that those things can exist at the same time...but, they did. I felt like they were requiring too much in terms of time intervals, but that I could have done a lot more shorter intervals for a longer…
  • Welcome! I've lost 50 pounds and want to lose 30-50 more (not sure yet... :) My tips are: 1 - Change your insides: work on ways in which you are unhappy, find your passions, enjoy life more 2- Change your lifestyle: move more, play more, sit around less 3- Think of food as fuel - what does your body need each day for…
  • I was about your weight when I started and everything was SO hard, but I just kept at it. If a 5 minute walk is all you can do, then do the 5 minute walk. Then later in the day, do another 5 minute walk. Do that as often as you can! It doesn't have to be all at once. When I first started, I decided I'd run. i was SO not…
  • Yeah, there are some friends you'll lose...or, need to limit your time around. But, others will adapt. TOnight my friends and I went roller skating on a whim. It was fun! And, it was exericse....instead of our usual drinking and eating.
  • My partner and I have always eaten separately b/c we have completely different tastes. She's a vegetarian (who doesn't like vegetables) and I eat meat and am a bit of a foodie. So, once in awhile we'll eat the same thing, but it's very rare. And when we do eat the "same thing," it's still so different. LIke, we'll have…
  • I'm not really a carbs person, so I hardly ever eat bread, rice, etc. When I do, I choose whole grains - whole wheat low carb tortillas are about 71 calories and great for burritos and mexican...i like brown rice or bulger... Carbs just don't fill me up. I'd take a huge plate of vegetables for bulk over a tortilla any day…
  • You can friend me! :)
  • For me, it was a number of things....being in my 30's, having a kid, etc. Realizing that to care for someone else, you have to care for yourself first. But, also, I becamea lawyer, and it's like, I still felt like this fat slob who didn't fit in. ..surrounded by Type A personalities who excel, but yet there I was wearing…
  • Survivor - Eye of the Tiger (cliche, but it helps!) AC/DC - You Should Me All Night Long Kelly Clarkson - My Life Would Suck Without You Michael Jackson - Billie Jean Joan Jett - Do You Wanna Touch Me Divinyls - I Touch Myself Springsteen - My Love Will Not Let You Down Gaga - Judas, Born This Way, Poker Face Miley Cyrus -…
  • Southern Rock...oh, wait, we're talking food. LOL. Tomato juice and V8. Ugh!
  • I hear you. I'm slow to lose too,but it WILL happen. You just have to be patient, keep up exercise, avoid lots of carbs, and keep at it. it takes more discipline because you don't get the satisfaction of quick results. Does your doc have you on Metformin or anything to regulate your periods? Metformin will also help with…

  • Yeah, I dont know the answers to those questions. Weight loss CAN cure diabetes 2, for sure. My mother-in-law changed her lifestyle and lost 20 pounds and her diabetes is so much better and her doctor said she is on the way to reversing it. And, I've heard many others reverse theirs. So, maybe it's more about the weight…

  • P.S. - i had absolutely no side effects from metformin at all.
  • I fell into your weight cateogry. I've been doing this since December and have lost 45 pounds thus far. I have PCOS too. My doctor put me on metformin to help regulate my periods, and the benefit is that it also helps with insulin resistance. My losses are still slow and some weeks I have none, despite being diligent with…
  • If I could lose 21 pounds in 2 months, I'd be jumping for joy! This is real life, not Biggest Loser. The results you are seeing already are higher than average! An hour a day is sufficient exercise - if you push too much, you will burn yourself out and injure your body. Also, it isn't sustainable to do 2 hours a day for…
  • Mine was definitely "hitting rock bottom." I just got to be the heaviest I had ever been and I was going to this party for gay lawyers and NONE of my dress pants fit me. I couldn't even lay on the bed and zip them up. I felt fat and horrible and unprofessional and that my weight was thus hindering my career (and, I can…
  • No one ever noticed that I lost weight until I hit the 30 pound mark. We all carry weight differently, etc. Even now, at 45 pounds lost, only a few people have commented. But, I'm 3-4 sizes smaller, so there IS a difference.
