  • Watching your video was great. There are definitely some things I can relate to & other things, (i.e. becoming vegan) I don't think I'll ever want to relate to ;) I love how honest & blunt you were about it. One thing I've found pretty motivational is an app called Pact. Basically, if you don't log enough calories or…
  • 1) I weighed in this morning at 152.2lbs -- I haven't been that low since April 3/14 2) I actually pushed through my strength training this morning. It took me a couple hours longer to get started, but I did it!
  • Bump. Hopefully I'll be able to add my one progress pictures one day soon
  • I think starting with different types of food you snack on will make a difference. It takes time, but strawberries with a bit of sugar sprinkled overtop is surprisingly low in calories (especially when compared to packaged cookies or other junk food). I also find that simply chewing a piece of gum is beneficial too, since…
  • Bump! This has been really encouraging to glance over, as my weight loss has been really tedious. Oh well, better slow than never
  • So far, since my highest weight, only an ostrich egg. Ideally, I'll lose an automobile tire (literally a spare tire...).
  • Ooh... sounds like a great idea. Bumping this for later
  • Hey! I'll add you. I'm all for supporting & being supported  Background: I'm 26, 5' 4.5". Currently 157.5 lbs & want to get to about 135 lbs or so.
  • I would definitely agree with not weighing yourself daily. That's just too much pressure & torture to go through! I also keep track of my calories, everyday (for the most part), even if I go wayyyyy over. I figure just being in the habit of counting is better than letting myself get off track. It's been a very slow,…
  • I agree that a lot of it is your mentality. This is something I've struggled with for a LONG time. It wasn't 'til I was able to convince myself that I'm not ugly that this whole thing has been a bit better. Still a struggle, every single day. It's a killer... counting calories is tedious. Not feeling a difference, even…
  • I've been finding that doing my TDEE - 15% or so has really helped. My plan is to adjust it for every 5 lbs I've lost or so, or if I'm finding that I'm at a plateau for a while. Hope this helps
  • Might help if we could see your diary. I found that when I started, eating only 1200 or so calories was unbearable. After I found my TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) and took away about 15%, it actually has been working better. To find your TDEE, and more, go to this site: http://iifym.com/tdee-calculator/ All the…
  • Amazing! So motivational. It's awesome hearing from someone else who's actually making a lifestyle change & living out her faith thru it
  • One of the worst comments I've ever heard was one towards my hubby. When we were in college, Facebook had that whole "hot or not" thing. As a joke, my (now) husband rolled up his shirt & made a funny post, revealing his gut. Admittedly, he was overweight, which was half the idea behind the joke. My grandma then commented…
  • I've been on it for over a year & a half now. I did have a tiny little bit of weight gain, but it was probably due to lack of exercise, eating more food after getting married, & not having any work (so I was at home the majority of the time). I haven't lost the weight yet, but that's probably because I haven't been…
  • Definitely! I agree - it does keep you sane. I find that as long as I have an overall deficit for the entire week, it's beneficial. Essentially, I count for 6 days a week, but am always under & try not to eat all my exercise calories back. Then, on my "cheat" day, I also track & try not to go too far over. Then, at the end…
  • Game! Let's do this
  • Well... being on myfitnesspal is definitely an excellent start. Counting calories alone will be beneficial. Exercise is also essential. Start off slowly, but be persistent. That's an area I've definitely been lacking in, but even by counting calories I've been losing weight. However, I've been doing crunches with weights,…
  • Feel free to add me, too. I'm on here pretty consistently & comment/encourage people randomly  I'm 25 ('til the end of January), 5' 4.5" & am currently 158.8. My goal is 135ish, hopefully by the end of summer 2014. I've been trying to lose weight for a while (like since I graduated in 2011), and got to my highest…
  • An option might be to see a nutritionist. Not sure if there's any in your area, but at some of the health care clinics, they give free nutritional advice. Might help a bit  Hope something works out for you. I can imagine how discouraging all this might be. All the best
  • Hahaha! Just watched this last night -- such a fun movie
  • So sorry... but, this is automatically what came to mind! :frown: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfVsfOSbJY0
  • That's probably a really good mentality. I weigh in weekly, and sometimes seeing the number (whether it's changed or not), is quite discouraging. Good call on waiting to feel better before weighing yourself. I think that'll be more beneficial in the long run  I think it's a good idea to weigh yourself eventually, as…
  • First off - relax  Don't beat yourself up. We all do this. It's very hard... not even going to lie about that one. Secondly - how many calories are you eating every day? Maybe if you make your diary public, then we can see what kind of things you're eating, etc. A really good method is doing your TDEE (Total Daily…
  • First off - relax  Don't worry about it. The key is that you're working on it, which is a lot more than a lot of other people can say. I think we're often our own worse critics. I don't think it's a number so much as a mentality. You can do this... just keep at it, accept yourself as you are currently, admit that…
  • Mine is also public, but feel free to add me - the more support we have, the better
  • We are our own worst critic. I think that, really, this is a mental battle rather than being based on physical looks. It's like those who struggle with anorexia - no matter what, they still see themselves as fat. Sure, with those who struggle with that, it actually is a mental disorder where they cannot see themselves as…
  • Today, when my in-laws were having lunch with us, I turned down dessert. There were both brownies & cake pops offered, but I didn't have either. It really helped that the brownies were burnt & the cake pops had coconut in them, but still... I said no
  • My guess is that you might not be eating enough. I'm only 5'5" & my TDEE - 20% is 1662 calories/day. I found that this website really helped me: http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/ Essentially, it figures out how many calories you'd have to eat to maintain your current weight. Then, you can select how much you…
