  • This. Old Navy is great for having a variety of jeans for different shapes & sizes. I'm a tad biased, as I did work there for a bit. But, I liked them before that
  • Hahaha! That's AWESOME!
  • I'm SO glad I read this. Last week, on Friday, I weighed myself & I was like 3 pounds heavier. It makes sense logically that you gain weight before "shark week" (best name ever, by the way), but seeing the number always messes with my head. Guess I'll ignore the scale around that time & weigh in next week, as TOM is here…
  • It's crazy how quickly our bodies adjust, eh? This past weekend was bad for me, as my hubby & I went out each day for social events (dinner on Saturday, a going-away party Sunday afternoon, & another dinner on Monday). My only solution to feeling better afterwards is to take an antacid & drink lots of water  But…
  • This. I can't even finish an entire can of diet pop because of the aspartame in it. Even gum with too much aspartame is a pain. I have to sift through a bunch of different brands to find the one with the least aspartame per piece. My current favourite is Trident Tropical Twist... it's not too bad when it comes to how much…
  • Yeah... my husband just showed this to me this morning. Definitely gives you a different perspective
  • Me too! This is definitely a good wake-up call...
  • As others have said, it's really hard to accurately count calories burned from strength training. What I do is, if I've gone over a bit calorie wise, I add a few minutes of strength training done that day to my cardio  I figure I have burned some calories, so why not ensure that I don't go over that day?
  • I too am 5' 5" & am hoping to lose about 20-25 lbs (I'm about 155 right now). Feel free to add me :)
  • Good point. I've just been seeing a lot about how starchy stuff (white stuff, basically) turns into sugar, which then turns into fat. But, you're right on with the whole "all in moderation" mentality - definitely something that gets overlooked way too much!
  • Another option would be to track when you can. If you're out of town or just having one of those days, then don't worry about it. Chances are that you will gain some weight, but it'd be nice to have a break from calorie counting every now & then. Personally, I'm really looking forward to the day when I'm at my goal weight…
  • I've got a few that I'd love to achieve, eventually... - feeling confident in a bikini - fitting back into my wedding dress (from June 2012) - wearing skinny jeans again
  • You guys are wonderful! Thanks for all your help
  • According to MFP, the calories burned from normal daily activity is 1770. Should I change it to lightly active? And, adjust my weight loss/week? So, I just did that... and, it gives me 1660 calories/day. Is that better?
  • If I were you, I'd up my calorie count a bit. When I was only having 1200 calories per day, it was killing me! I would always be hunger, then cave & go WAY over my calorie count -- like, another day's calories' worth. Now that I've bumped it up to 1280, it makes a little difference. I give myself one day off per week so…
  • When I was a kid, I bit into an apple - right into a worm  It almost turned me off apples completely! :ohwell:
  • Yes! I get this too... Typically, it's worst after I'm done my cardio. I think it's just the blood circulating. I have poor circulation, so that's probably why I have it fairly frequently... even after walking outside for a while. Doesn't help that I live in Canada & that it's cold outside currently... I wouldn't worry…
  • Thanks everyone for your support & suggestions. I don't know why I have such issues jogging... probably because I'm out of shape. Walking is no issue @ all - I could go for 1.5 hr walk & be perfectly fine. I just easily run out of breath when I jog. I don't think I'm jogging too fast. It's pretty slow & I've asked my…
  • Bump! I am really curious as to what other people will say about this  I'm right alongside you, Alanna!
  • I guess I just need to put my foot down. We were talking to my MIL today about eating, and I mentioned how I just have different eating habits. My family is British... we really don't eat that much  My MIL mentioned that she wished she had done things differently when raising my hubby, as in not letting him eat as…
  • Thanks for the suggestions! My FIL actually had his leg amputated due to infection from the diabetes. His other foot may potentially cause future issues. My MIL isn't actually putting the food on my plate, but she is quite pushy about eating more. My husband writes it off as her being hospitable, but I think it's more than…
  • I haven't personally tried any quick fix thing... but I've definitely been tempted, especially with the acai berry stuff! But, it's so true... the hard way is the best way. As my dad always says, "delayed gratification"! I think we're in a society that is so used to the fast food mentality, that we forget what it…
  • Air popped popcorn with a tiny little bit of margarine (or butter) & salt. It's not that many calories & is SO filling. Add a banana smoothie (milk, ice cubes, & a banana), and I'm good to go. Altogether, it's about 400 calories. So, not exactly a "light" snack, but very filling & satisfying
  • You can also delete previous weight entries. A couple of times when I've really slacked off (for a few weeks), I'd delete the other entries, so that I'm starting from scratch. When you're on your MFP home, click "weigh-in" (on the left side) or "check-in" (on the top). Under the spot where you put in your measurements,…
  • I'm 25  I would definitely love the support!
  • Agghh! I know how you feel! No matter how good I feel about myself (beforehand), when I'm in a change room, my self esteem drops like crazy. It's even worse when the clothes don't fit...
  • It often depends on how I'm feeling  I try to avoid photos at all costs. But, there are certain times they just can't be avoided - like Christmas. This past Christmas, my family took our typical family photos. Over the last few years, I've been noticing a difference... but, this Christmas it was the most noticeable.…
  • I find that Nature Valley bars work wonders. There's some with yogurt or peanut butter, and others that are just plain. Whenever I'm hungry between meals, I only have one bar (usually two come in a package), then have a large glass of water. Not only does it fill me up, but it gives me energy to do other things too. I…
  • I need a diet buddy, too! I was on MFP with my fiance before & we were losing weight at a really good pace. But, then, we got married, and I don't have a job. He's working in construction, so he's still losing weight. But, not me! He instigated this challenge where I need to exercise 3 times a week for 30 minutes minimum.…
