  • Hi everyone! I thought I'd check in. My last post was September 5th.. I cropped my most recent progress picture with the last progress picture I posted. Left is most recent. Middle is September and far right was the beginning of my competition prep. So what's different? My mentality. Since my last post, I haven't eaten off…
  • Can't wait to try these after my competition!
  • @KnitOrMiss I found these at my local Stater Bros. They also sell them at Whole Foods. It's wild caught, no BPA in the can, and nonGMO. This brand also sells Sardines in EVOO and in tomato sauce. LOVE Sardines. I can eat them straight out of the can, or fry them on the stove with kimchi mmmm :yum:
  • Ok guys. This the progress thread, progress meaning "the onward movement towards a destination." I'm still in prep. I realized I was starting to develop an unhealthy relationship with food so I took a break from cutting and ate at maintenance for a few weeks. The October show is out of the question. But I'm still lifting…
  • @KnitOrMiss Have you heard of colostrum supplementation? I have been reading on the benefits and it helps gut health and (supposedly) cures/treats a plethora of illnesses and diseases...including PCOS, but I have also read that studies have been inconclusive on its efficacy. A friend of a friend told me about it and she…
  • The MRI came back normal. He is fine, he's able to talk fine and move around normally. The dr prescribed a low fat, low salt diet... even though his cholesterol is not high and his sodium is perfectly normal. I took a picture of his blood test.
  • Everyone is right about the sodium. Up your sodium and see how you feel. For me personally, when I find myself completely exhausted it's due to dehydration. I keep a gallon of water next to me at work and I drink constantly... but on days that I have no energy it's usually when I'm out and about (weekends) and don't make a…
  • @ladipoet Was it hard to remain confident that the numbers were eventually going to go down? A coworker at work recently found out his total cholesterol is 400-something!! He said switched his regular sugar consumption to honey. I asked him if it were the same thing? The body would process honey the same as it processes…
  • If you are consuming any other sweet replacements (stevia, diet soda, etc) I'd try cutting those out cold turkey. When I remove these things, it takes about 3 days for me to get over the cravings.
  • Since posting this thread, I have immersed myself in studies and videos and books regarding this topic. Saturated fats are shown to increase cholesterol, yes. BUT that means it increases both HDL and LDL. Does having high cholesterol mean you are at higher risk at having some type of life event (heart disease, heart…
  • @KnitOrMiss The funny thing is I AM in HR lol and the HR manager was in charge of ordering lunch! She is sending me to pick up lunch, so I put in an order for a cobb salad. I will pick up the lunches she ordered along with my lunch :) if anyone mentions anything, I will just say I have a very specific diet and cannot eat…
  • @Gallowmere1984 How low were your calories? Can you do keto/low carb while implementing RFL? Also, when you stopped RFL, how much weight did you gain back?
  • @Gallowmere1984 Is the RFL you're referring to from Lyle McDonald? I've been looking into that! Let us know how it goes!
  • @Steph_Maks Whoa that's a lot of money! It's only $37 in California which is why I bought it on a whim lol
  • @Dragonwolf Wow thank you so much for your detailed response!! I will definitely try reintroducing beef into my diet and seeing how I feel. Thank you
  • I've been struggling with eating at a deficit lately. I would eat 5-6 small meals, totaling 1550 calories. And it worked in the beginning because I was not used to eating so often. But as I got accustomed to the schedule, I started getting hungry. My small meals did not satisfy me and I would end up binging once or twice a…
  • @cstehansen Thank you so much for that video. Wow that is amazing and just mind blowing how there's medical professionals out there who are just crooked! Crooked crooked. Unbelievable. I also found another video that talks about cancer patients benefitting off keto: https://youtu.be/Q9socQcwPIs
  • Welcome back @SuperCarLori ! Just a few questions for you since you have insight to going to the other side and being back again. 1) What made you get off track? 2) How long were you off track? 3) What off track foods were you eating? (Sweets, breads, etc.) 4) How long have you been eating low carb? 5) And last and most…
  • @KnitOrMiss No bloat!! :) i have to be careful with sodium levels though. Too much sodium though and I retain water the next day. I went out to eat a chopped chicken salad and I added extra salsa, extra salt and pepper and I gained 3 pounds the next morning.
  • I'm the same way with anything sweet tasting. I like to end my night with some greek yogurt, natural peanut butter, and a packet of Truvia stirred in. Truvia is a mix of stevia and erythritol. And it really does spark my appetite. I can eat three servings of this concoction and not be satisfied. Yet, if I eat some chicken…
  • My cousin landed in the hospital due to low potassium levels too! Scary stuff. Just a little background, I drink a gallon of water per day. I take 1200mg of magnesium at night. I drink my Zipfizz at night as well. And tons of salt. My husband likes to joke that I like my salt with food lol :D
  • @bametels I noticed that too regarding who funded the study...Makes you hesitant on what to believe or who to trust. But I guess everyone from each side has some type of vested interest. You just have to read everything from both sides and make a balanced decision. I will look for more studies regarding artificial…
  • Are you relatively active? I lift heavy 5x per week, eating at a deficit and I take magnesium vitamins at night. Someone in this group mentioned a supplement called Zipfizz. It contains almost 1000mg of potassium! I can't speak for everyone, but, ever since I started supplementing with it, I've felt better energy wise…
  • If I'm reading correctly, they took subjects who already consume diet drinks and had them either: a) continue drinking diet drinks or b) stop drinking artificially sweetened beverages and start drinking plain water I feel like the group who stopped the diet sodas were craving something sweet and it was more difficult for…
  • So if anyone is in the market for a food scale, I purchased this one off Amazon. For $10!! I'm in love. It's super sleek, easy to use and very accurate and easy to clean!
  • Competition prep = simple foods and not a lot of calories lol thank goodness for patient cashiers who take my order without giving me a hard time. Me: "Rubios Chopped Salad with chicken. But no tortilla strips, no cabbage, no cheese, no sour cream, and can you add avocado?" Cashier: "So just the meat, lettuce and pico de…
  • What gets to me is eating way, way over calories. I can eat 3,000 calories and remain keto... that's not a problem. If you find yourself wanting carbs and you're just starting out with this way of eating, I recommend: 1) Accepting the fact that this is a lifestyle change and the first few weeks WILL be hard. You will crave…
  • 7 weeks and only down 5 pounds. Physique competition isn't until October 21, thank goodness. Eating 1550 calories per day and lifting heavy 5x per week. (Had 4 cheat days where I ate +2500 calories) My strength is still increasing, albeit slowly. Starting stats for squats: 160 pounds x 4 reps. Now: 175 pounds x 4 reps…
  • I highly recommend keeping your protein levels around .8g-1g of protein per pound of bodyweight. For example, if you weigh 135 pounds, you would eat 135 grams of protein per day. I can't speak for others, but in my case, I noticed a dramatic difference when I upped my protein intake from moderate levels (.6g per pound of…
  • I have a tub of myoinositol but have not taken it regularly. I think I took it consistently for two weeks, and then stopped. I did not feel any different on vs off. I have been on metformin for about 6 months and if anything, my libido is kaput. Nada. Zip. Zero. Zilch. Nonexistent. I'm stopping the metformin and will start…
