  • Hi, I would highly recommend you check out Trek bicycles. We have three Trek Hybrids. I think you can find one that you like for around the $500 price. Indeed, here is one that is under $400: http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/bikes/bike_path/hybrid/700wsd/ I don't think I would get too hung up with buying a "girls" styled…
  • Welcome TiffyC828! You are on the right track by joining the MFP community! Just take it one day at a time! You will do well here, just keep coming.
  • I use the data on my equipment...if that equipment takes into consideration for weight and age. If I do not have confidence in what MF data is I go to: http://www.my-calorie-counter.com/Activity_Calorie_Calculator.asp and verify. When in doubt I take a lower number. I consider the extra calories burned or extra minutes…
  • I am in! I don't really like to schedule cause my schedule changes on me too much...but, I am doing two workouts per day five to six days per week starting today! I swam half mile this morning and walked 2 miles this afternoon. Do we enter our workouts on this board every day???
  • I am up to twenty minutes on the rowing machine now...along with my other workout routine. I average 2:35 for each 500 meters...went 3885 meters total in twenty minutes. I am wondering if that is moderate or strenuous. Actually felt pretty strenuous to me, could not have had a conversation while doing it...
  • Thanks for the tips. I bought a "roman chair' to work my core muscles and plan on doing yoga, and weight training as well. I want to get up to about two hours five times per week workouts. I am semi-retired and have plenty of time on my hands...or should have anyway :)
  • I love bike riding...I have a Trek Hybrid because I like to ride country roads but also like to take advantage of the extensive bike trails in our region. My son and I are hoping to go on a long (300 mile) trip in a few weeks. There is nothing better than traveling the countryside by bicycle. We tend to go to Wisconsin for…
  • Hi Jo69, Try riding a bicycle, it is fun...a good way to travel and it is GREAT exercise!!! Really works the thighs, calves, etc.
  • One thing you might try is eating a few calories every couple of hours. This helps in two ways. First, it keeps your metabolism up and actually burns calories. Second, if you have gone into "starvation mode" it can help "fool" your body and get you out of that mode. Most importantly, is stick with it! You will come out of…
  • I love cycling!!! Makes me feel young. I have just gone on two rides so far this year and have done quick 15 mile rides. I am planning on doing a 150 mile trip in a few weeks, probably over three days. I have a hybrid...Trek 7700, I fits me perfectly. Happy trails to you this summer folks!
  • Great job!!! Thanks for the inspiration!
  • Good for you! Put your heart behind this and you will succeed this time. What a great time to lose some weight and get fit, it is spring time of the year and for your new life!
  • I quit smoking about five years ago. I chose a time carefully...and then also began an exercise regime (riding bicycle mostly), drank lot's of water (very important), ate organic foods and no meat for a couple weeks. I also found a good acupuncturist, yes it did give temporary relief. I ended up losing about three pounds…
  • This looked pretty interesting... Ingredients * 4 pounds corned beef brisket * 1 cup brown sugar * 1 (12 fluid ounce) can or bottle Irish stout beer (e.g. Guinness®) Directions 1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C). Rinse the beef completely and pat dry. 2. Place the brisket on rack in a roasting pan or Dutch…
  • What a fun time! Luckily I have smaller pants which I have been breaking out lately. From 46 to 44 to just now beginning to get into 42 inch waists! Funny one, I have flannel boxer shorts which are my favorites...but now I have a problem with them slipping down. So, even if my pants are holding up, I am having to…
  • Those sound great! I am going to try your recipe. Although, I wonder if one could use Stevia (sugar substitute) rather than sugar, that would reduce the calories by 30 per muffin...thanks for the recipe!
  • Thank you, that helped. It is working well now for me.
  • Good job! You are really doing great! Keep up the momentum.
  • Hi stacy992! Welcome to My Fitness Pal (MFP). What a wonderful time of life for you with your pregnancy, congratulations! Hope to see you around the 'boards'. John
  • That is wonderful!!! Congratulations!
  • Try this dear; My quest for a good gluten-free hamburger bun recipe is never-ending, but this is the best one I have tried so far. It is adapted from a recipe by Donna Washburn and Heather Butt which appears in their cookbook 125 Best Gluten-Free Recipes. Prep Time: 15 minutes Cook Time: 15 minutes Ingredients: * 1 1/2…
  • Hey there, maybe your best bet is making your own gluten free bread. This site has a bunch of recipes...they sound pretty good; http://www.cookingbread.com/gluten_free.html
  • Congratulations! That has to be an amazing feeling!!! Thanks for the inspiration!
  • I think you are better off going up a little on calories...maybe 1,400 or 1,500 per day and burn calories...about 500 or more per day. Also, if you are going to stay at 1,200 try eating a little bit of food every couple of hours rather than the two or three meals per day. This will keep you digestive system hopped up and…
  • Really!!! I will have to try that one as well. My wife tried one of the Roasted Vege one's also and loved it. It is hard to believe that there are only 250 calories! BTW, congrats on your weight loss, that is very impressive!
  • Earlier in my life I suffered from anxiety disorder. I had numerous anxiety attacks each day. It was awful as I related more and more activities to anxiety attacks which then ended up "causing" those attacks when I did those activities. Finally, I learned that anxiety attacks are produced by fearful thoughts, in other…
  • Congratulations! All journeys begin with the first step, which can be the most difficult to make. Now, just take another step and another and enjoy the journey. Before you know it you will arrive at your destination a new person!
  • My God! I will have lost a bunch volume wise when I am completed losing 90 plus pounds! That is incredible. Kind of motivates me to lose more. If that is five pounds think of how much 'volume' we are losing!!! Thanks for showing this.
  • There have been cases, especially in sports where athletes have died from drinking too much water in too short of time. Too much of anything we ingest can be harmful...
  • Hey, try not to worry about this, it takes time to lose weight. You have not even had enough time to really get your eating patterns changed yet. You will be firming up over the weeks more than the scale shows in pounds loss. You are at the beginning of a very exciting, enjoyable adventure! Getting fit and healthy for a…
