  • I work nights (7p-7a) so I actually changed my diary from breakfast/lunch/etc to 4-hour blocks starting at midnight (so, MN-04, 04-08, etc). If 3a is a common time for you to eat, perhaps changing your meal classification is a good idea.
  • I second this. I have nothing against cow's milk (or sheep or goat), but I do really love flax milk. Buying the sweetened flavored stuff seems counter-intuitive.
  • Calories burned is all about the heart rate. If your heart rate walking is as high as when on the elliptical, yes, you are burning roughly the same amount. Chances are, it's not. :) I recommend getting a heart rate monitor (with chest strap) to effectively keep track of the calories you burn. The monitors on gym equipment…
  • I think it's very healthy to explore your feelings about this now. By doing so, you are giving yourself a chance to analyze your feelings about yourself first, without external influences rushing your emotions. This is going to sound bizarre, but I learned it in therapy (abusive relationship, blah blah blah). Look at…
  • Your transformation is amazing!! Congratulations :). Reading stories like this makes me that much more motivated! In addition to what's already been said about changing your calorie goals, maintaining, etc., I wanted to chime in and suggest that this might be a great time to invest in a body composition scale. They run…
  • Oh, boy, do I have ideas. Avocados are probably my favorite single food item. Ever. Dice or mash it up with: --cottage cheese and cracked black pepper --mango, black beans, and jalapeno peppers (add a bit of salt and lime juice) --kimchi --cucumber, grilled shrimp, and crushed pistachios --flaked salmon and wasabi powder…
  • Word! It seems....vaguely voyeuristic to require THAT much access to a person's information. Not to mention, very, very few of you are registered dieticians. My credentials as a nurse probably make me more qualified than 90% of other MFPs to determine the right thing to eat (and I do eat well, always have aside from the…
  • This has been an interesting read. I never really considered conditions of unfriending before (I'm still a newbie, though, and don't have a lot of friends on here in the first place). Not having the food diary open is something that bothers people? Really? I just recently closed mine, because I got annoyed at some…
  • Ahh! Yes, nursing school is worth it, but they certainly put you through hell in the process :). You've received some great advice here (love Love LOVE my crockpot!), so hang in there. I bartended/served throughout, and while it wasn't easy I'm so glad I stuck with it. I like to think my trials as a single mom in school…
  • Been there....when I was in nursing school as a single mom of two, I was lucky to have $50 to spend on food for the week. The good news is it can definitely be done, but it takes planning. Must-haves on the shopping list: --Beans. Dried are MUCh cheaper than canned, but if you have a crock pot it's very easy to cook up a…
  • It sounds like your recipe might be closest to Progressive Chicken Noodle soup. I'd just use that as your per-cup count. I do the "throw everything together" thing a lot, so I can sympathize! Honestly, it's not like being off by 10-50 calories on one meal is going to make a big difference overall. If I make something that…
  • The only vitamin I currently take is the NatureMade Stress B-Complex. It definitely improves my mood, decreases the number of colds (probably due to the included zinc), and prevents that fatigued feeling. It's the only vitamin I've taken that I've noticed a marked difference in how I feel. If you're on hormonal birth…
  • I'm a Kansas person (Johnson County, to be specific). Hi!
  • If there is still room, I'd really like to join this group. :)
