shoulder overhead press, anything overhead I hate. I can do tricep dips forever but not overhead tri.

shoulder press definitely. and what's up with every class doing 'muscle-ups' til failure? my shoulders are already built up, don't need to concentrate on them.

I do something similar, and log it under cardio calisthenics vigorous effort. it's pretty close to the HRM.

there's books at the library on it. I read one and it seems to be a good thing for diabetics. I think it would be too restrictive for most folks. there are other rewarding things you can do for your health. like cutting out processed foods, eating more fruits and vegetables. watching your sugar intake. be sure to look for…

I'd start out cutting out anything that is not fresh, homemade. no food from a box or can, no fast food. sometimes it's difficult to just go on a low carb diet or paleo without easing into it. I pack my food every day, a balance of fruit, vegetables (frozen is very packable), I eat a lean meat 3 times a day. Sunday is prep…

I go on my lunch hour. I would pick out the classes I want to attend and put it in my calendar so the alarm goes off. for running, I'd tell myself, just do 3 songs, just get out there and do 3 songs, before I know it, it's 7 songs and I am so proud of myself. I have never left the gym after working out wishing I hadn't,…

I did a class 8 years ago and I still run twice a week 30 minutes. I LOVE IT, it's a wonderful accomplishment that makes you feel so good about yourself. I do other things during the week since I have knee issues. I did the fleet feet one because at the end you get this jacket that said you finished it. it was a cheap…

I just recently gave up dairy and was shocked that my allergies went away, along with bloat and other digestive issues. I noticed results within 2 weeks, you may want to give it a try.

there's actually a TRX app in the playstore. I've downloaded it and it gives you clear pictures of upper body, lower body, etc. if you want a workout, you have to pay a fee, but I just look at the exercises.

when I first started out, I took beginners yoga. it does increase muscle strength, balance, and all over good feeling about the gym. I started taking different ones after about a year of regular yoga, I'd try out the other classes. then personal training is also a good motivator.

omg, the picture! so gross. I've tried it in the past. because it was so expensive, I ate healthy most of the time and only took it when I went out with friends and couldn't resist the fried whatever. It actually would make me think twice before I'd partake, so just having them in my purse as an emergency willpower aid. I…

so cute! good job

I just recently moved from Oklahoma to Colorado, Sept 2014. Almost on my year mark and I totally understand what you mean by culture shock. I've gained some poundage during the stress of the change and am on board with logging my food and losing it!
-
I had the same thing happen, I got to my goal weight and then I moved to higher altitude, got so hungry that it only took 6 months to regain everything I worked so hard to lose. now I am back to square one. I wish so much that I started logging again sooner. so now I am back to walking in the evenings, not so much to burn…

oh if you need help on curbing appetite, go to your local library and look into some weight loss books, I check out a few every week and get pointers. I like the Dr. Hyman one, discusses healthy fat and protein as important factors in weight loss. there's a 10 day book by him. I've been eating this way for years and now…

I knew when I saw the subject line, there'd be some negativity. I don't think there's anything wrong with taking a stimulant to help you curb your appetite. I've tried phen, it was a tiny little capsule, and it's pretty gentle, I've tried pre-workout drinks that are stronger. There are over the counter stuff that say take…

it took me a year to go from 153 to 133 at 5'5, I had to change things up, cardio, weights, walking. protein shakes tend to make me retain water, so I did better on real food. I also changed calories day to day, some days I needed 1500, then the next day 1200, based on my activity. I kept my protein around 120 grams, more…

I enter it under cardiovascular, calisthenics vigorous effort. tho 2 hours will prob show a 1000 calories burned.

protein, try some healthy fats, eat eggs, avocado, nuts throughout the day or whenever you have a craving, omega supplements. I don't cut carbs completely but only get them from fruits and veggies, greek yogurt. anything too restrictive will fail.

Breakfast: Eggs keep you full longer than oatmeal. I buy frozen stir-fry vegs and put them in the freezer at work. then microwave a cup of vegs in a bowl as I scramble two eggs. toss together with two turkey sausage links cut up, nook for 2 minutes, throw a little bit of cheese. Lunch: Grilled chix breast for dinner, save…

you might be over doing it. I would skip a day of HIIT and just walk for the same amount of time. I've also overdone it before and my body thought it was starving so it wouldn't lose, so I had to increase calories to 1400. drink lots of water. is it a lot of weight gain or just a couple of pounds?
-
just remember to log everything, healthy fats are your friend, I bet you can make some yummy salads and dressings. log exercise activity to motivate you to do it. In my city, they have stroller walks for moms, so you may want to look into that. and it's not a diet, it's a lifestyle change.

that is awesome! I burn some major calories during Ski Season, out there all day long. It's cool to review your stats at the end of the day.

A PT does build confidence. Even after 5 years of weight lifting, I still get intimidated going to my new gym's weight room. I agree to start out going in the weight room when it is less busy. Also to go in there with a plan will help. There are cool workout apps. there are pull out pages of workouts in magazines, or…

oh and I make the whole pkg of turkey links and bring them to work, keep in freezer and take out two a day.
-
frozen stirfry veggies are the easiest way to get my veggies, I stir them into my eggs and microwave them with two turkey links and pepper jack cheese. I grill pork chops and chicken breasts. buy salad kits and throw the meat in. I usually make enuf for dinner today and lunch the next day. open a can of black beans, slice…

I've had 4 and they were all pretty good in the weight room, intervals etc. but only one would push the food issue. she weighed me every week and went over my food logs thoroughly and would tweak my macros if I plateaued.
-
I know I do better if I incorporate healthy fat into each meal, like avocado, black olives, coconut oil or olive. I'll have to check out the forum too.
-
the monthly fee seemed steep to me, then people complained about them taking money out even after canceling the membership. I totally get the weighing in part tho. When I was seeing a trainer who weighed me every week, I tried so hard to be at least a lb less than the week before.

drink lots of water, have black olives, avocado, almonds handy. when I am dying i'll pick one of the 3, either 1/3 an avocado, 6 olives, or 15 almonds.
