  • Our motivation to quit had nothing to do with health. The price of cigarettes went up to $25 a pack? and I think they are close to $30/35 now and they are talking about making them in the $40 range. Can you try to motivate yourself with money? Give each cigarette a dollar value and for everyone you don't smoke, put that…
  • I view it like being an alcholic. You're never really "over it" you just don't do it. If an alcholic takes a drink they may start drinking again. For me, I know if I have one cigarette I will go from one to one pack in about a day. The doctors in the states wouldn't give me the champix because I lived alone, so I do…
  • The Champix really did work though. They say the hardest points are three days, three weeks, three months and three years. Physically I didn't want to smoke, after the Champix it's all mental. Down here they have you do a course of Champix for three months. My husband stopped at about 2.5 months, and I know I have a bit of…
  • My husband and I quit together using Champix. It's been 4.5 years. and I still think about having a cigarette almost everyday. The first three weeks were ... not pleasant in our household. The frame of mind I use to maintain is knowing that if I start again, I will have to listen to my husband go on about how he was more…
  • We have one. apparently writing down the numbers was too hard for my husband so we went bluetooth :p to get consistant readings it is best to use it the same time of day, naked, with clean feet. There are varying reports of accuracy, but my particular scale is within 1% of the DEXA scan I had done. That's close enough for…
  • ^^ what they said, but I'm having trouble understanding how anxiety is preventing you from taking a pill? they are small pills.
  • If I have bacon, eggs and hashbrowns for breakfast that doesn't leave much room (volume) for anything else. So now that I cut out the carbs from the hashbrowns I replaced them with the carbs from fruit. Instead of cake for dessert I'll have 100g of strawberries with whipped cream. Instead of mashed potatoes I have…
  • Labels aren't required to list potassium, so very few foods in the database have it. Odds are really good that you're hitting your RDI even though it doesn't show up in your diary. For example, I'm pretty sure the MFP listing for spinach shows 0 potassium
  • I eat more fruits (berries/melon/grapefruit) and veggies following LC than I normally did following a SAD.
  • Together they outweigh me by almost 50 kgs now. The big one was still skinny here ... Good thing they like me
  • I weigh everyday and use Trendweight (or Libra app is good too), so I can see the trends. as long as the trend is headed down, the daily fluctuations don't get me riled up
  • I use it. I have my calories and macros set off of my TDEE (monthly avg). I like it because I can set fixed calories for different days and set my macros to fixed grams instead of percentages. The constantly changing numbers through out the day were irritating me.
  • use the recipe builder, but then weigh the entire dish* and enter that weight for the amount of servings. So a casserole may weigh 568g. Then serve up what you want and weigh that. So dinner tonight might be 178g (serves) and lunch might be 135, etc. or if you want 100g servings, the casserole would be 5.68 kg and a dinner…
  • I'm going to guess part of it is because of all the "you control you" "only YOU determine ... " blah blah The diet industry (including these forums) have set it up so that if they cheat or go over, they feel as if they have failed as a person and have no self control. Instead of just having a bad day and moving on.
  • You might want to try Trendweight or Libra and weigh everyday for a while. I used to weigh Saturday mornings and never saw the scale move. Turns out Saturday monring is when I weigh the most each week.
  • I understand exactly what you were saying. I stand by my original comment.
  • No need to be so pendantic. Are some of you really wound so tight that you couldn't read between the lines and see that she probably asked her co-workers for support, not to fill out her MFP food diary?
  • This group will probably be able to help answer your questions better than the main forums. There is a great FAQ at the top http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/394-low-carber-daily-forum-the-lcd-group

  • Beer will have that effect on me. At first I thought I had a Gluten intolerance, but I'm finding out it's yeast that causes my grief. Beer, bread, all give me "5 month pregnant" bloat. Rice and pasta, not so much (unless I over eat)
  • OP, one other thing to think about is undergarments. My dress fit better and needed less alterations without them. They just added bulk. So if they are having you get into all sorts of girdles/corsets/spanx, give it a try without the extra stuff.
  • How is this working? My dress took 7 months from order to come in.
  • also, if push comes to absolute shove, they can extend the sides of the filler panel in your corset back with fabric taken from your hemming (dresses are also made waaay too long) and add longer ribbons Does the hip portion of the skirt fit?
  • Wedding dresses run small. That 14 is probably closer to a street size 10/12. Personally I would forget about focusing on weight and just go for inches. Put the dress on, find out how far off you are and hit the gym.
  • I use the .8g/ LBM or .6g per body weight. I need about 65g a day to maintain my current muscle mass. The other macros are calculated after that.
  • I do LCHF and my cholesterol dropped lower than the range. Over the course of a year I had started eating a lot of dairy for some reason and my cholesterol went up a bit. Doctor told nme to cut back on the dairy. Maybe replace some dairy with almonds or Olive Oil?
  • I bought it so I could set my macros by gram. In that aspect I'm very happy. I haven't really explored the rest of it yet. If I start my sport of choice again, the exercise setting per day will come in handy As for cost? It's less than one dinner out for two.
  • OK, so I'm assuming those who have never heard of it are either a) not catholic, or b) from cultures who celebrate in a different way. I am assuming you've all heard of Mardi Gras. Mardi Gras is also Shrove Tuesday/Fat Tuesday. Day before Ash Wednesday, the start of Catholic Lent.
  • It's Shrove Tuesday/Fat Tuesday. Many cultures celebrate with pancakes or donuts. ETA: The quote didn't come through. That was in response to the OP's "random Holiday" comment.
  • when I look at a friends diary the macros are listed at the bottom, just like they are on mine. I only use the app if I'm out and about, so if I look it's on the PC.
