I mix it 50/50 with riced cauliflower. The blend takes away the flavour of the cauliflower.

Hi I'm ::gulp:: mid 50s and in FNQ and would love to join up in the tribe. I gained 9 kgs between May 2020 and March 2021 and I was already 19 kgs over where my doctor wanted me to be. I'm already down 4.7 kgs and my current small goal is to be back to where I was in May 2020 by the end of May 2021.

Here in Australia they use kJ, but most labels have kJ and kC listed. the only time I've seen a label in only kJ is if it's a local Australia only product.

Maybe you have the problem I have. If I exercise, weight loss does not show up. When you workout your muscles "swell" and my muscles hold onto that water. I was in a bootcamp type gym and actually gained 10 lbs, along with gaining inches. My clothes really don't fit now. I quit and lost 3 lbs the first week.

Well no. A pound of muscle weighs the same as a pound of fat, but the muscle does take up less volume.

For the casserole situation, I weigh the whole thing, subtract the dish, and enter that as the amount of servings. So the casserole may weigh 2300 g. that is 2300 servings and if I eat 187 grams, my diary entry says I ate 187 servings.

I weigh daily, but only record on Tuesdays. I picked Tuesday because I tend to eat saltier on the weekends and I shed the water weight on Monday.

I experienced the opposite when I went low carb. I now drop off in minutes and sleep straight through the night. How long have you been low carb?
-
That is a shame. But thank you for your quick reply.

So the answer to this question may be buried in the previous 104 pages, but here it is anyway. Is it possible to recomp without lifting? There really isn't much on earth I hate more than going to the gym and lifting weights.

I had a Dexa done and brought my Aria scale with me so I could see the variance and calculate accordingly on an ongoing basis. Turns out my scale is less than 1% off, so I'll wait until maintenance to get anothet scan

I'd hate to see what you would have answered if you were judging instead of "just asking" OP, I ended up with a premium acct so I can set macros by grams instead of percentage.
-
I cut my calories and my carbs. It took a few weeks, but I no longer get hungry between meals. While I was adjusting I would have small protein snacks. I lost 40 lbs between April - October. Working on the last 6 now.
-
Went premium so I could set my macros in grams instead off %. The constantly moving target was driving me nuts.

Absolutely. I went on a self imposed ban on all purchases until I reached XX weight. Now that I'm at that weight I don't need to buy anything. It is an incredible feeling to just grab clothes and leave the house. No stress about what's going to fit me today. I still have 6 lbs to lose and several inches. I have two dresses…

It's not a terrible amount. I'm a 5'5" female. Using the previously posted formula of .8-1 g per ideal body weight I shoul dbe eating 120-150 g a day.
-
I realized I didn't get heavy by eating "garbage food". I got that way by eating really good "foodie type" foods but my portions were out.of.control.

In April I was 196. When I got down to 167 I still didn't feel as if I'd lost any weight (looked the same, still in the same size clothes). When I recently hit 159 my mind caught up with my body and now I can SEE the weight loss and had to finally go down a size

I love the Fitbit, BUT I'm a data geek. I also calculate my calories and Macros based on TDEE, not NEAT. So I can see (roughly) what that is through out the day. I love seeing how I tend to stall on weight loss when my resting HR is high and my sleep is bad. I can also prove to my husband that, yes, he is exactly the…

My Aria scale is less than 1% off from the Dexa scan I had done. I weigh in the morning at roughly the same time. I don't get the wild readings everyone claims to get.
-
^^ This happened to me last year. Myweights were up and then down and then up ... found out my husband was using it (not as a registered user) and we were close enough in weight that itthought I was stepping on it. Thankfully I've lost enough that when he did it this morning, the scale registered him as Guest.

The US and Australia have Sodium on the nutrional labels. As MFP is heavy on American members, where would the people be getting Salt numbers?

It would take a lot more than a 380 step differential to stop me from enjoying a pile of New Orleans Jambalaya. ;-)

If you want to make it even more accurate, after you enter the recipe, weigh the finished cheesecake and use that as the # of servings. So say the cheesecake had 12,800 servings. Then when you cut a slice, weigh it and log it as "XXX servings. It allows for variations in slice sizes and appetite. I use this method for…

I carry a snack in my bag at all times. Every once in a while my blood sugar will crash (or spike)* and I need a bit of something to get me to where I'm going. Or, sometimes traffic is really bad and if I get stuck for too long and get too hungry, my sugar gets wonky. *yes, I've had it checked. Docs all say I'm "fine". I…

I was 196 and just lost 30 lbs in 4 months, eating around 1500-1600 calories and only walking as exercise. Do you already run that much? Your level of exercise on that low calorie level would have me falling off the wagon in about 3.5 days.

I use mfp for food logging and my fitbit ( in your case apple) for all activity logging. Less chance to double up.

Honestly I can't do the gym thing. Bores me to tears. Most I've been able to do is VERY expensive small group pilates classes because I'll be #$(#$*#)$ if I'm going to waste that kind of $$$. The one time I was able to stick out training at a gym is because I was training/rehabilitating for something very specific that I…

I've never understood this. If your fitbit is in your bra how is it moving more than your wrist? My bra and wrist pushing a cart are moving forward at the same rate of speed.
