  • Way to go! I love seeing before and afters. One day I'll be posting mine!
  • Slicing bananas to freeze right now! Now I know what to do with the bananas that are too ripe to eat as is, but still good. And I can have a totally guilt free dessert! Best idea ever. Thank you.
  • Well, I'm sure your dog is very happy about this new turn of events! I think walking instead of eating is a great strategy. Not only are you (and the dog!) getting exercise and avoiding eating, you are getting some vit. D and the endorphins from exercise. Keep it up! If it's not enough, it might be time to talk to a…
  • There is a condition, can't remember the name, but the problem has something to do with a drop in blood pressure when you sit up or stand. It can be no big deal or it can be a very big deal, like pass out/fall down/get hurt due to the drop in bp. Might be something to mention to your doc.
  • I had twins the first time and an almost 9 pounder the second time. My stomach has not and never will be the same. But i have three amazing kids. When I am thin, my stomach is better, but my bikini days are way behind me, and that's okay.
  • And there is definitely a genetics component... Even when I was thin I had a double chin. Just like my grandma's. My daughter has it, too.
  • Yay to healthy! Congrats! I am very close to moving from obese to overweight. One day I'll be healthy.
  • Inspiring!
  • Congrats! That's an awesome accomplishment.
  • There is a school of thought that if you eat more frequent, smaller meals you burn it more efficiently, and don't go as crazy when you do eat. Good for maintaining glucose levels with out huge swings. Eat more often to eat less over all. For me, I eat breakfast, a mid morning snack, lunch, a mid afternoon snack and dinner.…
  • One of the reasons I got as fat as I did is that my husband is an amazing cook. Like seriously gourmet, restaurant quality dinne revery night and often breakfast or lunch, too. When I told him I was tired of being fat and was going to start eating better and doing MFP, he said he wasn't going to change the way he cooks. I…
  • I like that I feel better than I did three weeks ago before I started MFP.
  • Are people commenting that you look like you have lost weight or look good? Try on a pair of pants you know was snug in the past. Are they still snug? Look at some photos taken when you were still carrying the extra weight- I bet you can tell a difference. Our heads do strange things to us. You may not be able to see it,…
  • I eat several eggs a week. Good protein, good nutrition. Cholesterol has never been an issue for me, and the latest is eggs aren't really the culprit they were previously thought to be.
  • <<<<<<<< That's my "before" picture, after loosing 14 pounds. It's down right horrifying if you ask me. But, I has really bounced me out of denial about how big I am right now. It's so much easier to fool myself when I only see the top half in the mirror (don't have a full length mirror) or when I hide behind my kids or…
  • You are growing a whole brand new human being. It's the most creative, amazing process you will ever be involved in. Talk with your doctor and a nutritionist to make sure that you are eating properly to grow your baby. You don't have to gain a ton of weight, especially if you had some extra to start with. Primary focus…
  • Moderation in all things. If you don't want them eating sugar before school (a very reasonable idea), let then have a small treat after school- ideally when they can go outside and get some exercise to burn it off before the dinner/homework evening crush starts. Your wife is an adult. You're probably going to have to back…
  • Air popped pop corn is only 31 calories for s cup of popped corn. And its really, really cheap if you buy generic popcorn. And it's a whole grain. And depending on how you are doing on fat calories, you can add a smidge of butter if you wish. And it's nice and crunchy.
  • You add 5 lbs every month due to you cycle and it stays with you after your period is over? That's 60 lbs a year, 120 in two years, 180 in three years...etc.... It's perfectly normal to add a couple pound of water weight for a few days each month, but then drop it right away afterwards. Eat like you always do, drink lots…
  • Great work! And congrats on nearing your goal.
  • I'm pretty darn close to this.
  • So far, I have not needed to cheat to eat what I want, just needed to think it through and plan for the day. I figure Thanksgiving and Christmas I'll not even think about calories and eat what I want, but by then, I'll be used to not stuffing myself, so I'll be able to not go too crazy.
  • I bet, with a little research, you can find some candy or treats that don't contain her triggers. Allow her to have a reasonable amount as a treat. She needs to learn self control, and that have a restricted diet due to health concerns does not mean being deprived.
  • And I do hope everything is going well for your son and his prognosis is good.
  • If you have a sick child, your focus of course will be on your son. Are things settled down with him now? If not, give yourself some grace to take it easy for a while, maintenance might be a good goal for a while. If things are settled with your son for a while, the advice still stands. Take a long hard look at WHAT you…
  • I just scanned through your diary. If It's accurate, you are NOT eating 1600 calories a day. There are days where you don't get withing hundreds of calories of your goal. Be honest with yourself. Also think about what you are eating. Are you eating lots of healthy, whole foods? Are you eating a balanced diet? Try eating all…
  • I like food. All kinds. That's what got me in to this mess in the first place... Good thing about veggies is they taste good and you can pretty much eat unlimited quantities of them. I like them raw or cooked. i make a huge salad with a couple kinds of lettuce and all the veggies in the fridge to go with dinner, and then…
  • This.
  • A quick look at your diary makes me think you need to talk to a professional about eating disorders as soon as possible. If your diary is accurate, you need a lot more help that you can get from and internet forum. Good for you for asking for help!
  • I'm a mom of fraternal twins, too! They turn 22 on Sept. 24. Nursing twins should add about 1000 calories to what you need to eat. Eat very, very healthy and drink lots of water. You can eat a surprising amount and loose weight while nursing twins! Mine hit their 12 week growth spurt the week of Christmas, and I lost 4…
