Okay, I am not a doctor, but have had more injuries to my back than most doctors you'll ever meet, and seen lots of them, physical therapists, and chiropractors, not to mention massage therapists and acupuncturists. Ice. Ice. Ice. NO HEAT. Heat causes inflammation. You don't want that. Makes things swell and hurt. Ice 20…

I'm 50 years old, 5'7" tall. Highest weight was 208 at the end of August. I looked puffy and shapeless, and felt terrible. I am down 22 pounds (current weight 186) and feeling so much better. Goal weight is 145. I set my goals according to MFP to lose one pound a week, and I eat back my exercise calories (um, hello, I get…

Three meals, two to three snacks a day works well for me. Depending on my schedule, I may skip snacks or save calories for a big meal. I find I am less likely to be RAVENOUS at meal time if I eat a snack between meals and I am better able to stay on target calorie-wise.

Wow! Looking good!

I'm a coffee drinker. I like coffee. It pretty much makes morning do-able for me. Someone tried to sell me Advocare Spark by telling me how great it was and it should get off coffee because all that caffeine is bad for you and Spark would give me plenty of energy. Guess what is in Spark. Yup. Caffeine. As much as a cup of…

I've dealt with depression myself, so I definitely feel for you there. You are a big guy, with plenty to lose, so maybe just letting it happen for a while makes sense. I don't know. I would say aim for eating as healthy as you can. You are doing really well so far with your loss.

I was thinking about you today and wondering how you were doing. Thanks for posting. Looks like you are doing very well and healing nicely.

I always have a question for people who ask this question. And I'm not intending to be a smart *kitten*, really. How in the world did you get to 344 pounds if you can't eat more than 1200 calories a day without puking? I wouldn't eat to make up the difference at 10:00 at night, but maybe plan a little better through out…

Hopefully, he's just trying to say he cares about you and isn't concerned with your size, and you are beautiful the way you are. If he's saying he doesn't want you to lose weight, like don't do it, he won't like it, that sounds like one big giant scary red flag slapping you in the face. You are pre-diabetic. You need to…

Yep, if I exercise, I can eat more. Pretty awesome deal. And it makes me feel good and makes me healthier, too. But really, I know I can eat more if I exercise. That gets me off the couch.

Due to a couple serious neck/back injuries, and a bad knee, walking is one of the few things that I feel comfortably safe doing , exercise -wise. Yes, you can lose weight "just" walking. Do it often, push yourself, even if that means just going five minutes longer than you did yesterday, and increase your speed and…

5'7", big boned and on the curvier side. I am aiming for 145. (currently 186) In college, when I couldn't afford food, I was in the low 130's, but as I said, I couldn't afford food. Since then, 145ish a few times, and that seems like a good, healthy weight for me, but I'll be very, very happy to get under 159 (the top of…

Big difference! Keep it up, you're doing great!

Fantastic news! I was at the doctor last week for some blood tests, and she wants me to re-do the fasting glucose because it was a tiny bit high. She's giving me two moths to get it under control and test again, so this is very, very encouraging to read. One of the reasons I finally decided ti get serious about losing…

My "skinny jeans" that I couldn't even get on a couple months ago FIT! Perfectly!

That's fantastic! Good for you!

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. And sleep.

Crossed that line myself recently. Feels good, doesn't it?
-
Congratulations! That's a great accomplishment!

Exercise.

I adjusted my ticker to show total weight lost (I lost 8 pounds before I found MFP). I worked for that loss and want credit for every damn pound!
-
Yes it works and yes you should eat them! For me, it's fantastic motivation to exercise. I like to eat. A lot. That's how I got fat. If I exercise, I can eat more. It's a good trade off to me.

This.

Congratulations!!

You are at the lower end of healthy normal BMI. It wouldn't hurt if you put on a few pounds, but if you are comfortable and healthy where you are no need to. More exercise/toning will help with your proportions. Looking at your profile, I do wonder how fast you lost the weight, and what/how much you are eating. If you are…

That's awesome!

Hummus, sprouted peas, and alfalfa spouts (or clover or broccoli sprouts) on some good whole grain bread. Yum yum yum.

I'm a mom of three, ages 22, 22(yes, twins!), and 19. The mantra around here for a long time has been education-career-marraige-babies. Now, of course if things took a different track, I could and would adjust, but I think if you are hoping for the best possible foundation, that's the way to go. Some people choose not to…

<<<<<< Tika, purebred black Lab. We got her from a Lab rescue group when she was about a year old. She had been pulled from a local pound. She was sick, skinny, and scared. We don't know much about how she spent her first year, but I'm guessing it wasn't too pleasant. She has turned in to the best dog in the whole world.…
