  • I totally get what you're saying. I've gone from a size 16 to a size 4. My response to "how did you do it?" is "hard work and commitment". Once they realize that diet and exercise was my little magic pill, they immediately lose interest. The only way to wake up skinny is with the help of a plastic surgeon.
  • Backpack? You're going to have to ditch that. Arm band with iPhone w/ Spotify playlist and RunKeeper. Headphones, obviously. Headband to keep the sweat out of your eyes. Waistbelt with water bottle. Inside are Sports Beans, a protein bar, and a thin cloth in case I need to to wipe the sweat. Wearing a Road ID bracelet with…
  • It IS hard! Anything worth having is worth working hard for. Here's my experience. Instead of retyping it, here's the link to what I posted about my journey... http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1254045-it-s-more-than-weight-loss
  • If you don't care then quit worrying about it. Losing weight is HARD. You have to care ALOT in order to be committed to the hard work and sacrifice. You have to be able to see the big picture. It's more than weight loss. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1254045-it-s-more-than-weight-loss If you don't care, then you…
  • The only way you can "win" this battle is to realize that your mother's issues aren't your issues. You don't get your self worth or your value from her. You don't. Just keep working hard and do this for yourself. Not for her. Not for your sister. Not for the cute guy that you have a secret crush on. Do it for YOURSELF.…

  • WOW!!! That's great!!!! Hard work and commitment pays off!
  • Don't talk about it. Just do it. You will find others who are on your journey that you can share your victories with. Just show your family/friends/colleagues with your results. It doesn't matter what they say. It doesn't matter what they think. This is about you.
  • Ahhhh dang! THANKS YA'LL!!!!!!!!!!
  • Thanks ya'll!!! And tonight...tonight I ran 13+ miles! I ran my very own half marathon!!!! Who in the world ever EVER thought that I, former couch potato and oreo addict, could possible run 13 miles???? NO ONE! Not one single solitary person. Not. even me. Now, to be honest I utilize the Jeff Galloway method and run 3…
  • You have to remember why you are doing this. I have gone from a size 14 to a 6 b/c I kept myself inspired. I read the success stories on MFP. I read success stories on-line. I looked up exercises. I planned my fitness routine. I watched videos about how to swim better or run better. Remain committed to your goals and do…
  • Skinny Cow ice cream bars! I have one every night.
  • What's wrong with walking? I run 20 miles per week...run 3 minutes, walk 1 minute. I run all of my 5Ks and 10Ks like that and will do a half-marathon by the end of the year. Google http://www.jeffgalloway.com/ to learn more about the run/walk method.
  • If I thought my kids were taking drugs or doing something I believed was dangerous, I wouldn't hesitate to search their rooms. They know that. They also know that I'd be happy to snip their hair while they are sleeping and send it for drug screening if I felt it was necessary. My kids know they have A LOT of freedom, but…
  • How badly do you want it? If you really and truly want it, then you will do it and will motivate yourself. No one on here can motivate you. You can read the success stories for inspiration, but your motivation has to come from within. I did it because I wanted it. I maintain it now because I want to. That's all there is to…
  • Ran a 10K on Saturday!
  • I agree with your fiancé.
  • Track on a cruise??
  • YES! Sign up!!! No one says you have to run the entire thing. The only bar that you have to reach is the bar you set for yourself. Run 2 minutes, walk 1 minute. check out this link: http://www.jeffgalloway.com/training/run-walk/ You will have so much fun, you'll get a cool shirt, take some neat pictures and have the…
  • I'm a new runner (2 5Ks and a 10K this weekend) and I have said ALL of these things! When you don't run, you just don't get it. I don't sail and don't have clue what starboard is, why should non runners know how long a marathon is? A 5K may not be a marathon, but tell that to my brain when I'm out running one. It may only…
  • ^Exactly! (Now they make MEGA stuffed oreos!!!!! )
  • I finished my 1st 5K in 35 minutes. I ran the entire way, slowly, and felt pretty good. I ran my 2nd 5K last weekend. I ran 5 minutes/walked 1 minute. It wasn't timed and I forgot to check my watch, but it was probably about the same. That said, your time doesn't matter. Just make your goal to finish.…
  • That's AMAZING!!!! Good for you!!!!!!!!!!! I'm running my first 10K on March 1st. The thought of a half-marathon terrifies me! I'm so proud of you and I don't even know you!!! :drinker:
  • C25K is great and that's how I started. However, I have decided that I prefer the run-walk-run method. http://www.jeffgalloway.com/ I run 5 minutes, walk 1 minute, run 5 minutes...and am doing my first 10K on March 1st. Start with the C25K. On your rest days, do the elliptical and continue to build your endurance. All you…
  • Work B***** - Brittany Spears You wanna hot body You wanna Bugatti You wanna Maserati You better work ***** You wanna Lamborghini Sip Martinis Look hot in a bikini You better work b*****
  • ^^THIS! I was literally forced to accept a dessert that I did not want. I finally said yes to get them off my back and then handed it off to someone else. That was nice of your coworker to bring food, but that doesn't mean you have to eat it.
  • Repeat after me: "No, you can't work out with me b/c it's too distracting. I'll call you when I'm finished." "No, I don't want to go out to eat with you b/c you always hound me about my food and it's tiring." She will either stop her ways or stop being your friend. Either way you win.
  • I'm 49 and have lost 33 lbs...gone from a size 14 to a 6, since July. Also ran my first 5K, have 1 next weekend and a 10K on March 1st. If I can do this, believe me, ANYONE can do it. The secret...HARD WORK and COMMITMENT. It's worth every second you put into it.
