You have over 120lb to lose. You should focus on making healthy eating habits, incorporating strength training and cardio into your life and not worry about the number on the scale for a while. If you do this right you WILL lose weight. You're in for the long haul so don't get discouraged after 2 weeks!! There will be many…

Another nursing mama here. I'm nursing my toddler DD. When I started MFP it gave me a goal of 1200 calories and I didnt know about BF option. I stuck to it and still paying for that :( It has stalled my weightloss...I'm pretty sure that is the cause. I was exercising, nursing and netting under 1200 to keep under that goal.…

Are you nursing? If so, you need to eat your nursing calories too. Do a search under food by typing 'breastfeeding' and pick the appropriate one.

I'm a life long vegetarian. And so is my mother. And her mother. I don't know beyond that, but that's 3 generations of vegetarian women in my family, all in perfect health and live to be into 70s or 80s. My grandmas brother is almost 90 and vegetarian. Still living and doing better that many 50 yr olds I know!! I'm…

Exercise so you can eat more :) I'm vegetarian so I'm always looking for high protein foods that aren't meat. High fiber food will keep you full longer, so will protein. Anything whole grain is good (brown rice, multigrain/whole grain breads, quinoa, etc.). Eat some good fats too as they help keeping you full longer-…

Thanks princessleia..is that your DD? She's a cutie I am trying to switch completely to whole grain and brown rice. Sometimes I have long grain white rice because family won't eat brown rice..I tried. So if I cook for just me, it's brown rice.. Also tried quinoa recently and liked it. I eat wheat pasta when I cook it for…

As a fellow 2 C-section mom, it does not sound normal. It shouldn't hurt like that, and certainly not after the exercise is over. Did you have any infection or open stitches issue? It is best to check with your doctor before doing those moves. I had no strength in my ab muscles when I started 30DS (my second section was 18…

1600 is based on my TDEE..someone calculated it for me. My BMR is around 1300 and he advices eating well above that and he came up with that #. Not sure if it's too high..should I reduce it?

It inspires me :) I'm doing couch25K as well right now. I suck at running.

I have heard 20cals for each ounce you produce. If you pump it is easier than guessing when you nurse. I'm nursing my 21 mo DD who eats 3 solid meals + snacks and exercising. I'm having a really hard time losing weight. My calories are between 1600-1800 and I've gained weight the last month :( Don't know what's wrong. For…

I like seeing people's current pics in their avatars. Mine is from my Hawaii vacation last month.

It's because fiber is harder for body to digest so it uses up more calories to digest..hence the lower net calories compared to refined food with little or no fiber.

Learn to make yogurt at home. Learn bread making and you'll have fresh healthy bread ( its on my list of things to learn too). Beans, chickpeas, lentils are all cheap and great nutritious foods with rice. Best to buy bags of dry beans than cans. If someone you know has Costco membership, u can buy big bags of veggies,…

I like their veggie patty on wheat. Love to load up all the veggies and banana peppers. Their southwest dressing is great but high in calories.

I'm having a heck of a time losing any weight WHILE nursing. I increased my calories from 1200-1300 to 1600-1700 and have gained. So depressed. My baby is 21 months and nurses 3-4 times a night. Anyone else in the same boat?

Out of 35 items on his shopping list, I have 23 already in my house. Since I started eating healthy I visit the porcelain god every day. I don't think I need the cleanse but thanks for posting the link! I have been eating the right stuff, mostly.

It's so crazy..I was at Panera late one night grabbing a sandwich and eating it there and there they started throwing all the leftovers in the cans. I was still there! I paid not 10 minutes ago for the same stuff! 4 large trashcans full of yummy bagels breads and rolls. What a waste.
