  • I get mine online (usually Amazon) and use it all the time! Love making Vegan Queso (add almond milk and chickpea flour and salsa), sprinkling it on baked potatoes, and in soups. At first I wasn't crazy about it but now I love it. It's not super cheesy but I never liked cheese.
  • totally just assumed UK based on your diary, btw.
  • :/ I dunno. I would say keep trying to eat well and see how your body does after exams? One meal that I love is roasted veggies (anything I can get my hands on tossed in herbs, nutritional yeast and a bit of oil roasted for about 40 mins) over quinoa or brown rice. I'm also learning how to make soup and made a delicious…
  • Sensory issues are a very real thing! I don't have many sensory issues relating to food, but my sensory issues affect my ability to go to work and the gym (smells) and relate to my husband (sensitive to touch). I don't know how much help this site can be, try something dedicated to sensory eating difficulties? like…
  • From quickly looking at your diary and not knowing much about you I have two guesses: sodium and stress. Both can make you hold on to water. As much as you are able, making fresh food might help. One thing that I like to do is spend one day a week making a big batch of a curry or stew or something and freezing it in…
  • I went vegan to limit my environmental impact. I try to search out and use vegan hair/skin/cleaning products. Currently I have a lot of leather products that I have mixed feelings about since 1) I've had them forever and I don't want to contribute to waste since they are still serviceable and 2) pretty much everything I…
  • Just because she looks healthy in film/pictures does not mean she looks healthy in real life. Getting healthy and fit is very important, but the scale does not define your worth. Not that you said it does, just a reminder.
  • Are you friends? You could just suggest having a Girl's Day of pampering and shopping to celebrate your hard work.
  • the only thing i really hate about yard sales is when i run across a 'phantom sign' and can never find the dang sale. I hate driving around like a creeper.
  • I think it's an important issue. I work in a school and last year our classroom had candy and treats (along with pencils/toys/puzzles) that they could purchase with their positive points. This year we've switched to only doing experiential rewards (so far the most popular is strangely "have lunch with the teacher") and the…
  • I really love Yogaworks BodySlim. When I bought it, it came with a Beginner Yoga with an AM and PM workout. The beginner workout is a good place to start. Both DVD's also have a tutorial section where they break stuff down.
  • Scored some adjustable hand weights at the thrift store. $7.50 each for 35 lbs plus whatever the bar weighs. Really impressed the cashier that I hoisted them onto the counter myself. Some lady cheered for me in the parking lot. I managed to get them all the way to my car (and I parked in the back) without breaking a toe.
  • Today I was told that I didn't look like my driver's license picture and that I won the Healthiest Cart of the Day award! (Not a real thing, of course)
  • I try to go with the mfp settings, getting extra protein if I can manage it. I like to work out hard and if I don't get enough protein I feel really sore.
  • sometimes I have a hard time sleeping/staying asleep because I feel so muscley. a warm bath (or very very cold shower) helps with the pain. or deep pressure. I make my husband sit on my legs to reset them.
  • i got gallstones after losing 55 pounds. didn't get my gallbladder removed, though. i discovered i didn't have any troubles if i avoided dairy.
  • What I am eating RIGHT NOW ( or intermittently as I type) Quinoa I seasoned with a bunch of stuff but you could just use Taco Seasoning from a packet Chickpeas I seasoned with a similar bunch of stuff that you could also use a packet for (plus some almond milk) done on the skillet Some "Vegan Queso" I made with a little…
  • Sounds like the problem isn't that he's 'vegan' but that he is using 'veganism' as a magic pill to avoid personal responsibility. Personally I'm a vegan for environmental reasons, but I try not to be a jerk about it and be responsible for making sure I have my own, healthy meals. Make him take responsibility for his…
  • also i am usually too busy feeling sore to notice anything else.
  • How many calories/protein/fat are you getting? The only time I've had strange stomach feels has been when I wasn't getting enough food.
  • Vegetarian for 1 year, Vegan for maybe 6 months? Aside from being the only vegan most places I go, I've found it pretty easy to transition. Usually I don't crave anything I can't make vegan, but today I was watching a cooking show and they made ribs and ugh now I want ribs. Just gotta keep thinking about that carbon…
  • Another thing they don't seem to talk about on the biggest loser is hormones. Personally I swing up to 10 lbs a month just based on hormones. Keep eating healthy and being active and focus on a monthly weigh-in. If you keep it up you might get used to your swings and know when you are going to drop. It's hard not to see…
  • Sounds like the doctor may be getting paid by the gruel co.
  • nothing like actually eating 1200 calories for my weight loss to STOP. I lose the most when I aim for 1500-1800
  • Every time I eat anything with aspartame in it I get sick. Not 'i've been poisoned' sick. I come down with a cold. I can taste when aspartame is in something without it being listed (a lot of alcohols have aspartame and don't list their ingredients) and it can give me a headache as well as a sore throat. I think it's…
  • I thought I could never be a runner because running for a minute made me start to lose vision. The day I ran a mile without stopping was a huge victory for me!
  • One thing I used to do (back in my omnivore days) is make a deal with myself that if I only ate food I brought to work and didn't snack on the seemingly endless selection of cakes and cookies in the staff lounge all week that I could go to Cold Stone on Friday and have a treat. I tried shifting the treat to something…
  • I lost 60 pounds but have gained back about 15. I had stopped strength training and counting calories, and decreased my workouts from 6 intense workouts a week to 5, then 4, etc. until I had a few months where I got to the gym only a few times a month. My 'skinny jeans' stopped fitting, then my bigger pants started to get…
  • I started having gallstone pain about a year ago. I had lost about 50 pounds by then and decided to go vegetarian for a month. During that time I 'compensated' by eating a lot of cheese and stopped watching my intake because I was afraid of losing too much weight. Obviously, though, if you eat a lot of anything you'll…
