I would also invest in a Heart Rate Monitor. It tracks your heart rate and gives you your TRUE caloric burn. The number on the machines are very generic and are definitely not the same for everyone. My burn on my HRM is never the same or even close to what the machine says. Polar makes amazing ones! I am on my second one…

Brooks GTS 10. As someone stated earlier, they are pretty costly, but SO worth it. I used to have issues with my shins when I ran, but when I bought my Brooks, no problem since. I am currently on my third pair! Love them.

It is about metabolism. If your body goes very long with adequate nutrition, this slows your metabolism heavily. You should try to eat 1200 calories spread over 5-6 smalls meals a day, which keeps your metabolism engaged constantly. Hope this helps!
