I give myself a 3 lb range. Friday is my weigh-in day. I don't let myself get above 119.5. But, when I go up any, I work to get it back off. Losing a little more wouldn't bother me.

I am 50 years old and get this all the time from my Mom all the time now. I also ran into an old friend whom I haven't seen in years at the mall on Black Friday. She asked if I was ill....then she asked if I was anorexic. I think it's pretty funny, cause I'm no where near that thin! It doesn't bother me in the least. Now,…

I can't pick just one! I'd say continuing to log, keep up your workouts, AND weigh yourself regularly (I weigh once a week).

I am 50 years old, post-menopausal, 5'5", and my previous lowest adult weight was 142 (I was 25). My initial goal was to hit 140, with a dream goal of 135, but always wishing I could be 125. As of today I am at 120. My goal is to stay between 120 and 124.

Salmon is my favorite, but too expensive to eat all the time. I eat a lot of baked chicken! Fortunately, I found a really yummy recipe months ago that makes the best chicken I've ever made. It's easy and comes out perfect every time.

Hey, sorry that I can't help with your question specifically, but I have have been using Jay Robb protein powder for nearly a year. I chose it because it was the only one I could find that didn't contain sugar. I have seen the bars at Whole Foods (where I purchase the powder), and they are sold individually. Based on my…

I think maybe it's more your attitude that is setting you up for failure. I know it's really hard, but you just need to take this journey one meal at a time. Make one good choice, then move on to the next. I have always struggled with beating myself up when I make a bad choice, and feeling like I've blown it. I had to come…

I have not had any type of weight loss surgery, buti can definitely relate to the weight struggle, which has pretty much been lifelong for me. I have successfully lost weight (at least to a point where I felt ok aout myself) several times with Weight Watchers, but I always ended up gaining the weight back, plus more. Last…

I have the FitBit Flex and absolutely love it. I'm competitive (and maybe a little obsessive...), so I love having the step goal everyday and meeting it. It definitely gets me to move more.
-
Hi! I use a FitBit flex and love it! I find it very motivating. I like to make sure I get at least 10,000 steps in each day. I've been known to walk laps around the house before bed if I'm a few steps short;) I'm 50 and started my fitness journey on August 20, 2012. I discovered MFP about 3 weeks later and gave been hooked…

Hi, kboyd:) Yesterday was my one year anniversary for beginning my fitness journey. I turned 50 in April. I'm a Mom of five and grandmother of two. My goal was to get fit and stay fit this time! I have been on many successful "diets" in my lifetime, but never really figured out how to maintain for more thank few years, at…

Don't worry. I'm guessing the weight gain is due to all the extra fluid. I did not weigh myself for a week or so, but when I did get on the scale I had actually dropped 5 lbs. I definitely understand worrying about weight gain. I was far more worried about gaining weight as I awaited my surgery, than I was worried about…
-
Well, for me, the scale definitely plays a big part....I don't want to see the numbers move up! I worked too hard to go the wrong direction now. And the more fun part....I love buying size 6 pants and size small shirts. I want to still fit in the ones I have and I'm looking forward to buying an all new fall/winter…

Hi, Christine:) I'm 50 and 3 of my 5 children are older than you, and afraid I am slightly addicted to MFP;) I am 5'5", 125.5 lbs and basically maintaining, although I wouldn't mind losing another 1/2 lb. I joined MFP last September, after starting my fitness journey last August 20. I really did not intend to take…

It can be done! I have lost 89 lbs in less than a year. All but the last few lbs were lost within 10 months. If I can do it, you definitely can! I am 50 years old, have always struggled with my weight, and pretty much hit rock bottom (and my highest weight ever) last summer. I was *hoping* to lose 65 lbs, but have been…

I so agree. Last year at this time I was wearing size 20/22 pants, now I am in 6s and some 8s, size small or medium tops. I definitely look at them and think these can't possibly be mine. And I don't feel like I look like a size 6 or 8 either. I think after being fat for so long, it takes the mind a while to adjust to the…

I eat the sesame variety, but I can only eat it toasted. It's flourless, so it's not the texture we are used to in bread.
-
I take a multivitamin and do not log it...actually I never even thought of it having calories! Now I'm gonn have to go look;) I do take a sugar-free calcium chew that is 15 calories. I do log that.

I'm sure many would disagree, but I wouldnt be worried about being under, as long as its not a frequent occurrence. Of course, if you are hungry, then you should have somehting to eat:)

I think you'd have a problem no matter what brand of shoes you were wearing, considering they are six years old! After a certain # of miles, your tennis shoes definitely need replacing (wish I could remember the #). I've also heard to replace every 6 -12 months. I love my Nikes. I am currently wearing Nike Free 5s for my…

I have lost my weight using treadmill walking with an incline as my cardio. I recently read an article stating that walking was just as good for your cardiovascular health, as well.

I have found one brand of brown rice (and I've tried quite a few) that I really like. It is called Riceland. I add some salt, along with some chicken bouillon granules.
-
It has worked great for me, since I got my FitBit flex in May. Yesterday it was fine, but today, I'm having the same problem as you. My calories burned are not syncing from FitBit to MFP. Interestingly enough, though, the food and water I have logged on MFP is still syncing to FitBit just fine. I'm wondering if this is a…

I use a combination of medication and therapy. I suffer from major depression and anxiety with obsessive tendencies. The combination has been very helpful to me since I started both, a little over a year ago. I go to therapy twice a month.

It takes a lot more pounds to drop a size in the larger sizes than it does in smaller sizes. I think i lost aout 10 lbs, maybe a little less, between size 8 down to a 6. I think it was closer to 20 lbs to drop a size in the beginning of my weight loss. In other words, there is less difference in size between the smaller…
-
I think it really just depends on you, and whether or not you feel good at your current weight, and like the way you look. If so, then there's no need to continue losing. Best of luck with your decision!

Hi:) Getting fit for 50 was part of my motivation when I started on my journey on August 20 of last year. I was 49, peri-menopausal, and at my highest weight ever. I turned 50 in April and had a hysterectomy on May 23, so now I'm in surgical menopause. I take estrogen, so no yucky symptoms:) I am in it for the long haul…

Just have to chime in, as a mother-in-law! I'm not a food pusher.....don't give us all a bad name;) I make it my business to stay out of others' business. I don't offer unsolicited advice or try to sabatoge anyone elses diet. I only give my opinion when asked, and even then, VERY CAREFULLY.

Once I hit my original goal (which was the highest acceptable weight for my 5'5" height), I began setting five lb mini goals, so I now weigh 24 lbs less than my original goal. In the past, my version of "thin" was a size 12, so I was aiming for that, and dreaming of a 10. Now I am in 8s, some 6s, and small/mediums. I would…

I started August 20, 2012, found MFP 3 weeks later, & ate 1200 calories the whole time. I am 50 years old and have surpassed my original goal of 140 lbs. I got down in the 120s for the first time in my adult life (126lbs). I lost steadily, never experiencing a plateau. A week or so ago I changed my goal to lose 1/2 lb a…
