Feel free to add me! My big focus is trying to get back to being active, and I'd love some support there. My diary is open to friends, but I can be inconsistent about logging, especially when I'm traveling.
-
Anyone can add me if they'd like.
-
It might be easiest to just spend a week or two eating as you usually do, but logging everything. That will give you an awareness of where you are today in terms of calorie consumption. I find the mobile app easier to use when trying to log, but that may just be me.

Inspirational! Thank you for sharing!

If you're looking to be toned in three weeks, strength training might be more important than your carb intake.

@Pawsforme That's exactly how I think of it. It's a mental thing, but I'm a lot healthier when I think of the long haul rather than a single day/meal making or breaking my fitness goals.

I planned on going with the Jawbone Up3 with heart rate, because I've used a BodyMedia Link for a couple of years, and Jawbone recently bought BodyMedia out. I originally went with BodyMedia because it seemed to be the most accurate available at the time, so I figured Jawbone was the way to go if I wanted to add heart rate…

I weigh daily so I can see trends, but the weekend weight and measurements are the ones that "matter" to me. I just like knowing whether the Saturday scale number is representative of the week, or just Friday night's dinner. :)

First, a caveat: based on personal experience, I'm not entirely convinced that you can't lost weight and gain muscle at the same time. After I graduated college, I took a physically demanding job, and suspect that I gained muscle even though my weight dropped. However, since I was moderately to highly active 10 or more…

For what it's worth, I've found that the steps are over-estimated and the calories burn under-estimated (on Fitbit Charge HR) versus the BodyMedia Link that I've used for the last couple of years. That being said, either one is better than me trying to estimate what I burn in my daily life, which is, sadly, not too active…

It was worth it for me. Less than I was paying for BodyMedia, and as a numbers geek, what I get is worth the price. Edit: Feel free to add me on either Fitbit at https://www.fitbit.com/user/382QNM or MFP (or both).

Aim for 100, with 70 as a minimum. I'll deliberately eat over my calorie goal to hit 70, but won't bother to get to 100.
-
Sorry, should have added: feel free to add me as a friend here on MFP, too!
-
Relatively new to Fitbit, and could use friends for inspiration! https://www.fitbit.com/user/382QNM

I don't usually initiate conversations, but will respond back most of the time if someone else starts one. I log on nearly every day, so feel free to add me if that works for you. :)

I just got a Fitbit Charge HR a few weeks ago. Feel free to add me as a friend. :)

Such an amazing difference! Thank you for sharing - absolutely inspirational, and gives me no excuse for not getting to the gym at 5:30am. :\

I use the calculators at http://www.gymgoal.com/dtool_fat.html to get an estimate. I don't know how exact it is, but figure it's a good way to figure improvements if nothing else.

Feel free to add me. I've missed 5 days of logging in the last year. Four of those were because I was on a kayak trip with no Internet access, so I've managed to be pretty consistent. ;)

Also, it seems like you're probably within your healthy weight range, so losses usually take a little longer than when one is significantly overweight. (As a reference, I'm just half an inch taller than you, and right now my goal is set to 132 pounds. I can be healthy anywhere from 125 - 143 pounds, and losses tend to slow…

There are several walk/run apps (for iOS, at least) by the same group: The Walk is a fun way of tracking daily steps and can be motivating on a day when I haven't had much reason to move around. Zombies 5K is another C25K app. I'm liking it so far as I try to get back into running after many years away. Zombies, Run! is…

This is one of those areas where I can only speak to my experience, but as someone with diabetes on both sides of the family, my sugar intake can be a concern. Over my lifetime, I have had a couple of learning experiences that might be useful: 1) As a summer camp counselor in college, I was craving a lot of sweets from the…

I'm closer to 50 than I can believe (less than 2 months away), and in the last couple of years I've realized that if I don't make changes now, I won't be able to be active and healthy when I'm older. Good luck in your progress, and feel free to add me a supportive friend.

I've been on MFP for a while, but wasn't too social until recently. Feel free to add me as a friend.

Wow! Just...wow! Thank you for sharing!

Thank your for your inspirational story and your wise words!

Hi! I'm pretty much in maintenance, but I log in daily and always try to be supportive. Feel free to add me as a friend. :-)

Thank you so much for sharing your success!! Truly inspirational!

Lots of good information in HeartsOnFire's and Hearts_2015 posts! Some of the ideas that help me are: - The scale is not the best tool for measuring success. Being fit and healthy is better than being skinny. - Moderation in all things. :-) - Build habits that will last for a lifetime, not for two months just to fit into a…

Ditto to this, and to the idea that the best time to start is now. Calisthenics is a nice way to ease into the concept of lifting and can be done cheaply and almost anywhere. There's all sorts of programs available for free on the web and various iOS apps (Android, too, I assume, but I have an iPhone). I also agree with…
