Make sure someone knows where your at, try to check in periodically. You can do it, it sounds like a great challenge. Though doing a loop might get boring. Any chance you could get someone to drop you off 26.2 miles from your car and walk back to it? Though doing it that way will make it harder to bail out if you need to.…

I bet your family is all overweight. For some reason it's tough for family to believe that you can succeed where they have all failed. My mom instead of being supportive that I lost 25 lbs told me I'd be emaciated if I make it to my goal. Your not doing it for them, you have to do it for you. Don't let where you are today…

Enjoy them while they fit. I was so excited to get back into my old clothes and in a matter of weeks I went right past that size on my way to a smaller me. In another thousand miles I bet you'll have to order a new smaller size. By next summer you'll be wearing a speedo at the beach.

Running for an overweight person can be bad for them. Just walking can be a challenge. You have to work up to it. You can't just get off the couch and run a marathon (most people can't). That would be bad exercise.

I'm seeing this advice a lot lately. This only works for people that are exercising, right? If a person was in a plateau on a low cal diet without exercise is upping calories likely to break the plateau?
-
The best exercise for you is the one you actually do. Some people walk for health others walk because they enjoy it. It sounds to me like you and your dog enjoy it. If your not seeing the results you want or you want to crank it up a notch then start incorporating in some running or lifting or swimming or racquetball or…

I dropped 2 cups of spinach into my smoothie last night and couldn't taste it. I'll definitely be doing more of that.

fact: That's awesome! Keep doing it. So what if it takes you an hour to do 5k. You can do it if you want to. First time it takes an hour, next time it takes 58 minutes, the time after that it takes 55. Before you know it you'll be doing it in 30 or you'll be doing 10k in an hour. Stamina is something you build and I…

Protein is a min not a max.

I've been rewarding myself with workout clothes, running shoes, an HRM. Stuff like that. I don't understand cheat days. For some that might work but for me it would derail my efforts. I don't limit what I can eat only how much. If I really want something I work it in.

As an over 40 life long hater of most vegetables it was tough for me to start eating vegetables as well. When I started trying to eat less processed foods I started trying vegetables. I went to a restaurant and for the first time didn't pick out the broccoli, zucchini, and other unknown vegetables. It was pretty good. So I…

Any radical change you introduce will not be welcomed if they don't want it. You can still make healthier choices and you don't have to eat the way they do.

Job well done.

I don't see relevance.

Interesting first post. You claim to be qualified yet offer no credentials. You suggest advice that is contrary to what most on this site would suggest. You make vague mention of international guidelines yet offer no source of your information.

Your diary goes up and down a lot. Start with consistently logging every thing you put into your mouth. Next aim for consistency from day to day. Its a lot easier to not binge if you eat consistently. Try not to drink your calories and try for healthier foods. They are generally more filling and better for you over all.

I agree with the ops view. Not partaking in office food seems to offend people and can be challenging for those of us who are struggling. I wonder how this thread would have gone had the op posted successfully avoiding these wonderful treats as a NSV and left off the comment about the fat woman. Though I didn't view it as…

Ask many restaraunts have nutritional info available. Its difficult for us to speculate on healthy choices without more information.

I think the first mile is the hardest. You know you can do it. Keep up the great work!

Wow even more bad information in this thread than usual. Read the book "born to run" and I guarantee you will look at distance running differently.

"If you run, you are a runner. It doesn't matter how fast or how far. It doesn't matter if today is your first day or if you've been running for twenty years. There is no test to pass, no license to earn, no membership card to get. You just run." --John Bingham 5k is not nothing to an overweight person. It's often the…

Everybody raves about the polar ones. I bought a Zephyr HxM that I like a lot because I wanted one that was bluetooth to talk to my phone.

calories in < calories out = weight loss

Starvation mode is overblown. If you've got weight to lose your body isn't going to go into "starvation mode" and eat up your muscle. If your making progress doing what your doing, keep doing it. If you find that you stop making progress then switch it up. Dropping your calorie goal is not always the answer.
-
How long do you expect it to last? How far apart are your meals? Have you considered smaller meals more often or snacks in between while still staying under your cal goal for the day? That's what I do.

Here you go - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troll_(Internet) First post? Really your all that gullible?

Again and calories in < calories out = weight loss

I doubt anyone is going to mock you here. I think your rocking it trying to do it and give you mad props for trying to do it right. I've read that some weightlifting forums have people that would be happy to critique your form if you video it and post it. I'm certainly not qualified as I've just started squatting. I read…

One reason you may be sore is it's a whole different set of muscles. Try going some distance on a bike at your gym and you'll probably feel a whole new set of muscles burn. This is part of why it's good to mix up your exercise and not just do one thing. Your body gets used to that and adjusts for it. This is part of the…
