What HRM Should I Be Looking For?

Hello,

I am fairly new to the world of fitness. Haha, gotta start some time! I was wondering what are considered the best brands when it comes to HRM or which ones do you find most effective? I've personally been looking at the Polar FT7 Women's Heart Rate Monitor, since everyone seems to use it. I am looking for a model that will track calories burned for running, carido, and walking at a 4-5 mph pace.

Everybody raves about the polar ones. I bought a Zephyr HxM that I like a lot because I wanted one that was bluetooth to talk to my phone.

Had a lot of trouble with Polars getting erratic readings... Got a Garmin now and none of the same issues!! :)

What are you going to use it for?
HRM have different functions and vary depending on needs.

A basic unit like the FT4 or FT7 is fine for most initial needs.
Search here, you'll fnd hundreds of threads on these.

I have a garmin 610. I use it mainly for tracking my runs (distance, course, heart rate, calories, pace and pretty well anything else you want or don't want to know). Absolutely NO problems with this unit. It can also be used inside as well. Had a Garmin 405cx before, it tracked everything accurately but I didn't like the Bezel control. i wouldn't recommend the bezel models

I have a Garmin FR60. My son manages a Sports store and recommended it. He says they won't stock Polar anymore. Had trouble with them.
