Honestly, I would not even consider it at this point unless for some reason I NEEDED to. Eggs and other animal products gross me out. My love has other health concerns as well as celiac disease which makes it hard for him to be vegan as he gets deficient in nutrients and protein very easily so I've actually brought up the…

Also from Calgary!

if anything, I'd think it'd be the other way around (i.e. for running, rather than walking).

lots of studios offer a beginners class. I would recommend that over at-home yoga as it is easy to get the moves wrong and not even realize it and you can end up doing more harm than good!

This has probably already been said but this is completely wrong. The banana diet is meant as a GAIN diet. Many vegan body-builders use it to build mass. Bananas are fairly high in calories relative to other fruits and are full of starch, so I don't predict successful weight loss eating 100 bananas per day lol.

natures path !

I am not awesome enough for a marathon yet but I am a vegan and also a distance runner! I love clif bars although, like veggiebeat said, they are not as clean as lara bars or just dates. Vega bars are great and Vega makes intra-workout products as well so they might have something that would fit what you are looking for! I…

fruit veggies

When I was in New York in March we ate at Otarian which is a "fast food" place that has gluten free and vegan food... so that was the last time. Before that, I don't even know...

I guess you don't know what "sentient" means...

Updated most Used/Frequent list according to MFP: (1) Banana (2) Hemp hearts (3) Vega Bar - Original (4) Gluten Free Omega Flax Bread (5) Peanut Butter! (6) Carrots (7) Strawberries (8) Avocado (9) More Peanut Butter (different brand) (10) Cinnamon

Honestly, you can find books and studies and doctors that are proponents of really any diet. My doctor and the doctor of another lady at my work both recommend a plant-based diet with minimal meat and dairy for sustained health. As far as weight loss is concerned, you can eat **** on any diet (vegetarian, low-carb, etc.)…

Vegan! because: (1) Avoiding animal products is entirely sustainable in this day and age (and is actually becoming more and more recommended by health practitioners!). (2) The cruelty done to animals to obtain these products is more than I can even bear to think about. (3) Putting the above 2 facts together: there is no…

haha i always felt the same about seafood as you are describing! I finally started incorporating some salmon and tuna in to my diet right before i became vegan but it was really hard for me to stomach... seafood has always grossed me out!! thanks for your perspectives all.

Oh I am also gluten free but that is because my partner has celiac disease, not because i chose to eliminate it from my diet.

I'd recommend going mediterranean as opposed to paleo, unless you are planning on following the strict rules of paleo which include grass-fed free-range meat and the like. Meat produced in modern factory farms is not good for you and the amount that you'd potentially eat on that diet is not necessary. People I know have…

I am vegan. My diary is viewable by friends if you want to add me =) I also post some of my meals here symphonyofeats.tumblr.com

beer and peanut butter. not necessarily together, but that'd be okay too.

that makes complete sense, jsl! I think that is the mindset of a lot of fruitarians, who will only eat parts of the plant that (1) do not cause the plant to die and (2) fall off the plant naturally. ideally that'd be the way for us to live, but I don't know if we are advanced enough in our nutritional knowledge to make it…

I don't disagree with you ginger, however the comparison with milk is not an adequate one as obtaining the milk and eggs causes a great deal of suffering to the dairy cows and egg hens which are indisputably sentient beings. So there lies the question of what other creatures are harmed when we take the…

My partner has celiac disease so the majority of my meals are gluten free and most snacks as well! my calorie goal is 1900 and i don't count exercise calories, so my diary might be helpful to you! =)

and original post should say NOT sentient lol I was obviously in some sort of trance when making this thread.

OOPS thread title should say mussels, not shell fish

Detergents is a tough one... I went to walmart to pick up some and all of the brands there tested on animals (Tide, Sunlight, Gain). I checked at my grocery store as well and they had an "eco-friendly" laundry detergent that had the not tested on animals symbol on it, so I got that. I haven't used it yet though. In future,…

I will answer publicly just to bump the thread... 0: Are you are strict vegan, ethical vegan, or strict vegetarian, or other? I don't understand this question. I am a strict vegan for ethical reasons... also for other reasons. 1. How has your health changed since your transition into veganism? Has it improved? I have not…

i try to get as much protein as i can without worrying about it too much. always try to make sure there is some sort of protein source worked in to my meals in addition to the fruits and veggies that make up most of what I eat.

Do you have a fridge or microwave available to you? When I am at work I have both of those things, but at school I have neither.. so I can talk about both! I like clif bars, peanut butter sandwiches, and most of all FRUIT for on the go snacks that I can throw in my bag and not worry about until I need them. Apples and…
