  • I think you should stop looking at the scale as much..start monitoring your measurements. I'm 5'5, 126 and wear XXS -XS and 0-2 petite sizes and less than 17% body fat. Everyone's body is different but if you are eating 1200 and your weight increased to 115 I'd say you're body doesn't function well below that weight. If…
  • I have found my cord is too short to wear under my shirt as well, I typically put my phone in an armband then wrap the cord around my back and loop each ear cord under my sports bra straps to keep the cord behind me. I also use yurbuds, I have small ears and they are the only ones I can workout with and not have them pop…
  • what have you been doing to improve your running times? how far have you been running every week? And what kind of cold are you running in? Really the best way to get faster is to run faster and run longer. The below suggested distances are assuming you are already running about 16 miles per week. Lower the distances if…
  • This one is a personal favorite of mine, its a vegan recipe but you can add baked chicken or any meat you want to it. Nutittional yeast is the par that adds the cheesy kick so don't leave it out! And you can find it at any healthy food store like whole foods or central market in the bulk section. Butternut Squash Mac ‘n…
  • **mental note** never buying clif products again. lol so gross.
  • Have you been to beginnertriathlete.com? they have winter cycling plans, I am pretty sure they are free but I could be wrong
  • Try a green smoothie, I have a terrible blender so I stick with a very simple recipe but mine is this: 1 c. almond milk, unsweet 1/2 c. OJ 2 c. spinach 1 tbsp chia seeds (you can omit if you don't need the extra fat and want to make the recipe simpler) 1/2 banana 2 pieces ice blend blend blend
  • Personally I would still work out, mostly because working out always makes me feel less sick afterward lol I guess the endorphins numb the pain of sickness? With that said, working out while you feel sick is not the best time to push yourself too hard, you shouldn't be trying to run faster or lift more if you feel bad.
  • I did this too! Usually I avoid trying to imitate meat at holidays since people like to (good naturedly) poke fun. So last year I made a vegan butternut squash lasagna, vegan gravy, brussel sprouts and a vegan pumpkin bread. And everyone in my family enjoyed it! :)
  • Someone else mentioned beginnertriathlete.com which is a great site for tri information! And if you have an extra 15 bucks you should buy Triathlon for the Every Woman by Meredith Atwood, it's a great source for a newbie and provides a few laughs :) For my first triathlon my only gear was... swim: volleyball spandex sports…
  • x2 for hal higdon plans, he has great training plans for all types of runners. Just trust the training plan you choose and don't overdo your training, some people will add days of running or run longer than the plan says and feel burnt out by race day
  • I would suggest at least doing 10 minutes cardio prior to all of your weight workouts just to warm up your muscles and get them ready for a hard weight workout :) without the warm up you have a higher chance of hurting yourself. You don't have to do anything high intensity just something that will get your body loose and…
  • I just finished a half ironman in Austin two weekends ago. I did 2 sprints and 1 olympic this summer prior to my half and I'd highly suggest doing at least one other tri of any distance beforehand. Not necessarily to make sure you have the fitness levels (because if you do the training you will have them) but to prepare…
  • You might not even need the bike shorts for a 10 mile bike :) my first tri was about those same distances. For the swim I wore a sports bra and spandex volleyball shorts and in T1 (the transtition from swim to bike) I threw on a cycling jersey, socks and running shoes then was good to go for the rest of the race! If you…
  • Hi :) I am 5'4 and 126. I regularly eat about 2000 calories a day (my diary isn't always updated, but is open!) and I've slowly lost about 10 pounds and keep losing! It is def about a lifestyle change and not restricting your body to calorie intake you can't continue for the rest of your life! Keep it up :)
  • Cooking is obviously the best option, but back when I ate frozen meals I really liked Amy's! they have some really good burritos!
  • Happiness is a choice. Take it from someone who is dealing with severe depression. Being happy isn't necessarily easy, but if you only look at the negatives in life you'll never be happy. Why don't you make a list of things you are happy to have. Start with life and even if there is nothing else you still have the biggest…
  • I use Vega protein powders. No gluten, dairy or soy. Has a great mix of pea, hemp, rice, and alfalfa protein and no artificial flavors :). Thats just the performance protein, they also have a complete nutrition and some other things. But they are fantastic! I love my vanilla protein powder
  • Thank you all! I'm going to do it tomorrow haha I WILL wake up early and run! Y'all are the best!
  • Oh oh I live in Austin! Be my friend :P
  • I'm 23 :) feel free to add me! I eat a misty vegan diet and am terrible at logging my workouts lol
  • I used to run all the time, now I tend toward strength training and only run about once a week. My results have been 100% better with strength training! Especially super sets!
  • Haha this is so true! Guys expect a girl who can do it all but don't take into account that if I have a flat lean stomach he better have a six pack. Ive met a lot of guys who can't keep up with y physically and not gonna lie it's a turn off it's way easier to be fit and male than fit and female Maybe it's shallow but I…
  • Not sure if anyone has brought this up yet...but the book Food Inc has some great things in it. It's not necessarily about becoming vegan but shows how the beef industry has affected the USA and talks a lot about the fast food industry and such. I have up beef and pork real easy after reading that book and that was about 8…
  • I'd love a buddy! Friend me :) I dunno about you but I'm in Texas and most all my friends don't understand why I want to be vegan. I once had a guy who doesn't even know me find out I didn't eat meat. He then proceeded to say it explained why I'm pale and thin...and I'm really athletic and tan. Misconceptions man... I need…
  • I make vegan butternut squash ravioli! Just roast a squash, cube it and purée in blender. Add vegan butter some dried sage and salt and pepper (and whatever else you like) then scoop a tablespoon into a wonton wrapper wet the edges of the wrapper and seal it closed :) I typically make a huge batch and freeze for later, I…
