Good point. Thinking back on it, the people who end up with the best results were already pretty "thick" to begin with. It's too bad I'm so skinny and trying to go the opposite direction. I think it's much harder to do that!

Good job, man! You have made awesome progress. And you shoot Pentax, which is a bonus! I have a K10d looking to upgrade to a K5 one of these days.

I got the e-book in March 2013 and have completed two of the 10 week programs. I finished First Class and then Master. The exercises are definitely challenging in the beginning and left me sore for the first few weeks. I enjoyed the creativity that Mark Lauren demonstrated throughout the book that allowed me to get a solid…

If people at Walmart accept you as one of their own only then should you be concerned!

I think it's really important that we set goals in many aspects of our lives and do everything we can to achieve them. I would encourage you to keep persevering and don't give up. With that said, sometimes goals need revising. Maybe you can create some short term goals in addition to your long term goals to make it a…

Welcome to the YAYOG group! I've been doing the YAYOG program for about 3-4 months now. I started with the First Class program and just finished Master. My experience overall has been positive. The exercises included in the book are great and I truly believe you can get a solid workout without paying for a gym membership.…

Best. Thread. Ever.

Don't loose hope! Tighten it back up! It's really all about making a plan and doing your best to stick with it regardless of how many times you fall off the wagon.

Hey there. I originally started using MFP to lose weight after I'd put on probably 20-25 pounds during grad school through fast food eating. I don't think anyone would have considered me "overweight" but I was definitely skinny fat. So I lost the weight and now I'm trying to put on around 10-15 pounds of muscle and get…

Also doing Master level in week 4. I have also had concerns about not feeling challenged enough on certain days. I remember in high school and college when I would lift weights for an hour and feel exhausted afterwards. That's how I think I should feel post-workout. Anyway, my additions to YAYOG routine: - pull up routine…

I was always very weary of the possibility of slipping while doing let me ins so I chose a door that has nothing behind it except an empty carpeted floor. My wife, who is more cautious than I probably am, insisted upon it as well. It's hard to trust the door handle and/or your grip that much. I'm getting to the one armed…

I have had some pain in the back/upper area of my left arm when doing pull ups. This was really in addition to doing YAYOG, but it has affected my training in both. I slacked off the pull ups for about a week and it was ok when I tried today. I experienced maybe a tiny bit of pain so I think I'll be alright if I take it…

You've got the right idea for the ladders. You do 1 rep and then rest the amount of time it took you to do 1 rep, do 2 reps rest the amount of time it took you to do 2 reps, etc. When you get to the point of failure you will progress back down the ladder in the same fashion. Personally, I work out 3 days, rest 1 day,…

If you have enough hair back there to consider styling it maybe you should be considering a wax job instead!

That show is such comic gold sometimes. I am ALMOST not ashamed to admit that I watch and enjoy it!

C4RL05, I felt the same way when I started the YAYOG program. I wanted to make a concerted effort to increase my pull up stamina (maybe because I suck at them). I've been following the routines in these links: http://www.menshealth.com/fitness/pullups?fullpage=true http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2011/04/25/do-a-pull-up/ I…

I have the book but have not purchased the app yet. A lot of people seem to enjoy the exercise timer on the app but I have been using this simple internet timer and it really works for me. http://www.online-stopwatch.com/interval-timer/ I think what I would like most about the app is how they use videos to demonstrate all…

Well, I tried doing elevated one-armed pushups and they were not as impossible as I had imagined. So I went ahead and did the first day of the Master Class... It was way more challenging for me than any day of the 1st Class program. Also, the book makes it sound like ladders should be easy (high reps, low intensity), but I…

Hey guys, thanks for responding. I just found the minimum requirements for the Master Class and I already know I'm not yet up to snuff. I can only do 2 out of the 5 required pullups (couldn't do any a month ago) and the one-armed pushups are iffy. I also completed the First Class routine without being able to do 10…

It's even funnier that your name is candyass haha. I'm sure I could come up with some inappropriate joke but I'm going to refrain.

Have you tried to fry a mouse in olive oil (not extra virgin)? I bet she'll like that. Purrrrrrrr.

If I eat like that will I look like you? :) Btw, I saw your pics and wanted to mention that I went to USC (the REAL USC). I love the pic with Ray Tanner. I have a back-to-back national championship poster sitting in my office signed by Ray Tanner and Jackie Bradley Jr. GO *kitten*!

I got really inspired by the book: You are your Own Gym by Mark Lauren. The idea is that you can strength train without leaving your house if you are willing to get a little creative. There are literally a zillion (maybe not literally) body weight exercises ranging from easy to extremely difficult that do not require…

This may sound cheesy but I have found that songs from the Rocky soundtracks are great for running to. Any of the training montages are excellent. Check out John Cafferty - Hearts on Fire from Rocky IV - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swo51-CG9Ss *does some pushups*

I did straight cardio (stationary bike) for a few months and then HIIT for the last few months. I would say I lost about the same amount of weight with each type of exercise. I do like HIIT more because it keeps you "busy" and kicks your *kitten* in a shorter amount of time. Also, after a HIIT routine your body continues…
